I've grown to despise Disney so much these last several years that I just can't be excited for anything they are doing.

The well is thoroughly poisoned.

Of the problems with the two Amazing Spider-Man movies, Garfield is low on the list for me. Heck, I thought The Lizard was actually a pretty strong villain all things considered. Of course, people would reeee because of the "disabilities are not a thing to be cured" narrative in 2021.
Like his issue is more that he doesn't sell that he is a nerdy guy as Peter and acts way too cool. Like his acting is fine but the narrative he is in didn't work.

Imagine how low your self-esteem must be if you lived in a world with Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Scarlett Witch and literally dozens of other incredible heroes, and you choose to idolize Captain Marbles. A character whose only notable achievement on Earth was dragging Tony Stark back to Earth after his ship ran out of fuel.
Yeah like that would be fine if Captain Marvel did more in the MCU and shown to be an actual hero to the public. The movie doesn't show this and her biggest role on Earth is basically being glorified transport.

Reading that really makes me think the Captain Marvel movie should've just been a standalone story during that time showing her heroics and actually helping people with flashbacks explaining her origin. Would've been a better way to establish herself.

Like it really feels like the stuff post-endgame aside from maybe the Spiderman and Guardians films had not much of a plan to them.

I read somewhere that they show is changing her powers, from discount Reed Ricards since that offends the muslims and she will now have a magic ring that gives her energy powers (basically discount green lantern) anybody know if that is at least somewhat true?
Honestly who gives a shit. Can a show really be sustained by "It was Agatha all along" memes? Are consoomers just going to consoom as long as it has "Marvel Studios" attached to it?
Silly goy, Marvel drones would watch paint dry for 2 hours if it had the Marvel logo on it

Don't know about why (Think it's more likely that Green Lantern Powers are easier special effects than stretch powers), but the switch is true: they released some promotions for the show a couple of weeks back, I think, that had Kamala's powers represented as a bit purple crystal fist over her hand.

Edit: found it

Wow, at least I'm not crazy, although to be fair strechy powers look disgusting in live action, the Kamala From the Square Enix games looks disgusting when she stretches her fists

the reason we all love Tobey over the others can basically boil down to Tobey being an adult, even a young adult for most of his films, while the other two are still in high school. So his spiderman is a hell of a lot more relatable, and his problems feel organic, his superhero stuff could easily be a substitute for any addictive hobby or volunteer work, like being into D&D or working at an animal shelter, or even moderating a forum. its a hassle for him but he still does it because of a need to help others and a slight enjoyment, even if it fucks up his personal life.

modern day high school spiderman is always a trust fund-esue kid, for the reasons we all said. the other problem is that there has never been a real explanation for why all these heros don't help each other with their problems, marvel never bothered giving a good answer 50 years ago and still haven't
I've had so many non-Spider-Man fans lecture me about how "Spider-Man should always stay in high school" and how "his stories only work when he's a kid." Of course, none of these people have picked up a single damn comic book in their entire lives, lol.

In 2018 alone, we got two great Spider-Man stories: Into the Spider-Verse and the Spider-Man PS4 game. Both praised by fans, both praised by critics, both wildly popular among normies, etc. Both stories involve an adult Peter Parker. 'Nuff said.

I've always felt that Into the Spider-Verse served as a criticism against Spider-Man's bad writers over the past 15 years or so. Whether that criticism was purely coincidental or not, it doesn't matter: Peter B. Parker in Into the Spider-Verse was basically pointing out to hack writers out there that if you don't let Peter Parker mature, then he's more than likely going to become a man who is way past his prime.

I don't get Marvel's obsession with pressing the reset button on Spidey all of the damn time, and how he always starts back in high school. When I was a kid reading Spider-Man comics and watching Spider-Man cartoons back in the day, I watched Peter Parker grow up ... And I still was highly invested in the character. Marvel and Disney think that Spider-Man needs to stay a kid in order for kids to get their parents to buy Spidey merch for them. It's all so, so dumb.

Sam Raimi is the only director that has let Peter Parker grow up on the big screen. The fact that his Spider-Man movies are still talked about on a regular basis almost 20 years later says something. The fact that the new movie's advertising is hyper focused on Raimi movie nostalgia says something.

I think the issue with the subsequent Spider-Man reboots is that Amazing Spider-Man was clearly trying to go for the young adult demographic, and MCU Spider-Man wanted to make him younger since that was never depicted before. But it doesn't work since ASM makes him too cool and MCU tries to tie him down to the cinematic universe.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man feels like a Spider-Man that had full creative control behind it (except with Spider-Man 3 but that still had a unique vision to it.)

I don't hate Ms Marvel as a character. I quit Marvel around the time she came about, and maybe the really rancid stuff they did after her made it seem less vile in comparison. I thought she was alright, and her introductory run was OK if crossover boosting heavy. I feel the same about this trailer. I'm not excited for it, but its not awful looking. Hell, she's already 2nd place in terms of likable characters for Captain Marvel 2 behind Monica Rambeau.

I think what Disney-Marvel actually wants is Miles Morales Spider-Man, but 1) he doesn't have the Q-rating of Peter Parker and 2) they have to play nice with Sony, so they're basically grafting Peter's head onto Miles's everything else. Fuck, they didn't even bother to do the backstory this time around- I don't remember, has Uncle Ben even been mentioned in this particular iteration of the character?
