Asian Incel:The Movie probably broke even. it did amazingly at the box office compared to most films the last 2 years, and basically signalled to studios that audiences are desperate to go back to theaters, it basically proved that the box office would go back to normal if people weren't incentived to stay at home, basically it was the bunt sacrifice. ever since that film the studios moved their schedules about and 2022 went from looking like another shitty year where the domestic boxoffice is as depressed and small as it was in the 70s, to going back to 2000s era at the very worst.

Hell just October was roughly on par with 2009-era box office, and september was in the 90s-era in terms of gross. This also really helps with forecasting for the studios themselves, obviously if the box office was going to stay under $4 billion for the rest of time, superhero film budgets would drop to the point where they'd be on par with porn parodies from a decade ago, and every film would be as dogshit as the ones netflix releases. but now studios can sort of see how streaming services and theatrical releases can co-exist. Which means they can and will keep releasing these $200 million productions, hell we still don't have word on China's view of their films, but if the eternals is anything to go by, marvel is perfectly fine telling them to get fucked from here on out if need be. no more iron man 3 extra hour of footage.

As for Pete, just based on what's been projected its going to be the first marvel film that is "back to normal" box office wise, obviously 20-25% less because China won't be there to prop it up, but it will probably be the first billion dollar grossing film since ROTS, the shitload of actors returning and just the story itself means people will be flocking to it. its pretty much been the only film people have been hyped for in the MCU since FFH was released.

all signs point to it basically being the start of phase 4 really anyways, the other films were pretty much the pre-season/padding episodes. if the Spidermen don't put asses in seats than Feige would probably pull a Budd Dwyer, but again tracking shows that people are so hyped for this film that a surprisingly high chunk of the population would pay $100 just to see it now, 4 weeks early.

No way home has actually been sorta confirmed for a Chinese release by the looks https://variety.com/2021/film/news/spider-man-no-way-home-china-release-1235107273/

Asian Incel I'm gonna call this movie that from now on, there is no doubt the movie broke even or at least wasnt a flop, what did happen was that it underperformed, they can blame the coof all they want but the fast and furious outgrossed it and nearly made as much money as they used to make pre corona, but the main issue with Asian incel is not its revenue, its the fact that its sole porpuse was chink pandering, and the chinks refused to air it, its why the movie is pretty much forgotten at this point since it failed its main purpose.

And I agree on Holland's peter not being really relatable, both Tobey and Andrew's characters depict a guy who struggles between not having a lot money, supporting his elderly aunt, studying and working and trying to have a social life, meanwhile Tom's spidey is basically just a pampered zoomer who has a rich sugar daddy and gets everything on a silver platter.

Lastly, this most likely wont happen (but an autist can dream), but part of me wants them tl pull a Wandavision Quicksilver 2.0 with spiderman, have Toeby and Andrew play just actors or cosplayers or soemthing, and do jackshit in the film, the amount of coping from all the fans would be hilarious to watch

They’re actually the guys who run around Times Square dressed up as superheroes trying to grift tourists to take pictures with them.

Personally I’m in the minority but Holland’s Parker is fine for a Spider-Man that is a modern teenager. His issue is more of a problem with the MCU where they need to connect everything and bring in other characters. It doesn’t help too that Spider-Man is the most quippy character in every previous iteration but the MCU has almost everyone quip which makes him feel not as special. But he does well with what he has and does better as Peter than Spider-Man.

Personally Tobey is probably the only Spider-Man who feels 100% relatable since he’s a normal guy and pretty much is the only one with a normal life. It helps that Tobey can do both Peter and Spider-Man well where he can play the dorky post-grad photographer and the quippy Spider-Man.

Andrew Garfield acts like someone whose too cool and is more of a protagonist of a young adult novel, like he does well when acting as Spider-Man but he’s a shit Peter. His backstory is pretty convoluted especially with the plans Sony would’ve had like making his dad actually some sort of secret agent guy and have this ongoing war or whatever against Oscorp.

tl;dr Tobey > Holland >= Garfield and Holland’s issue is really due to the MCU’s flaws of trying to connect everything and have everyone quip.

Black Panther 2 Star Letitia Wright's Unvaxxed Status May Further Delay Filming (Archive)

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Letitia Wright's unvaccinated status may lead to further filming delays for the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

The Black Panther sequel recently halted production to allow Wright time to recover from an injury she sustained while shooting a stunt, with Wright heading home to London. Problem is, as The Hollywood Reporter noted, the CDC implemented a new rule on Nov. 8, requiring all non-immigrant, non-citizens flying to the U.S. be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and give proof of their vaccination status before they board a plane to the country. Given that Wright is neither vaccinated nor a U.S. citizen, this will presumably complicate her return to filming the movie stateside.

Wright, who plays T'Challa's tech-whiz sister Shuri in the MCU, found herself embroiled in controversy after sharing a video with anti-vaccine and anti-trans commentary on her since-deleted Twitter account in December 2020. Then, in October, a report emerged claiming that Wright had been espousing anti-vaccine views throughout shooting on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Shortly after, Wright released a statement in response to the allegations, reading, "Anyone who knows me or has worked with me, knows that I work incredibly hard at my craft and my main focus is always to do work that’s impactful and inspiring," However, as many pointed out, Wright didn't actually deny that she expressed anti-vaccine sentiment on the Wakanda Forever set, nor did she mention COVID-19 (either directly or indirectly) in her post.

For the time being, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's hiatus isn't expected to affect its scheduled theatrical release. Marvel Studios had already shuffled its film slate for 2022-2023 prior to the development in October, resulting in the MCU sequels Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, The Marvels, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania being delayed by as much as five months from their previously announced dates, along with Wakanda Forever.

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is helming Wakanda Forever, with much of the first movie's cast reprising their roles for the sequel, save for the obvious exception of T'Challa actor Chadwick Boseman, who tragically died from colon cancer in August 2020. The film opens in theaters on Nov. 11, 2022.

Even the worst Spider-Man still pulled in 700 million. The franchise is a money printer.

I think it's too late for that. The character isn't as engaging as people think he is. He's already depending on Dr. Strange's star presence already and he can't really function withotu having a strong male figure being "the mentor". Whether he's an antagonist or not really him (as some theories say), he's still Benedryl Cucumber playing the part.
Even if you don't like Tom Holland (and I personally think he's alright), I have to ask... Do you seriously think that Bengay Cumberbitch is meant to be the big draw here? To me, it's just meant to be a nod to the shared universe, and that doesn't bother me at all... I bet he's just going to be a cameo. (Also, he's clearly filling in for Mephisto, the people who make MCU shit these days have already admitted that they don't know who the fuck Mephisto is when asked, despite clearly cribbing from stories where he originally appeared multiple times now.)
No matter how they play this in Far From Home, I can't imagine it being even remotely as offensive as One More Day was.

Everything else aside, I actually thought the first Doctor Strange movie was kind of dull. It had some trippy visuals to be sure, but I don't think many people would call it their *favorite* MCU movie. I know I don't.

I know Cumberbitch had a lot of fangirls many years ago for some reason, but I would hardly call him a "major" star these days. Outside of the MCU, the only other big film I've seen him in was *literally* the worst Star Trek film ever. (He was pretending to be Khan Noonien Singh). I believe he also played Julian Assange in a movie, but I never saw that shit.
My point is, I don't think that Cumberbitch showing up in Far From Home is a case of them bringing in a "bigger star" to carry the lead, especially when it's already been confirmed that Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, (and Tom Hardy?) not to mention *supposedly* Tobey Macguire and Andrew Garfield, are all going to be in this movie.

I enjoy the MCU Spider-Man movies. They do have flaws that prevent them from being great, though. Personally, I do not think that Tom Holland is one of those flaws. His performances are really good; the problems with the character are within the writing. The writing has made Spider-Man more like Iron Man's successor rather than ... Well ... Spider-Man.

The MCU Spider-Man movies have also benefitted from having great villains. People can say what they will about MCU Spidey, but I don't think that a lot of people can deny that Vulture and Mysterio were really well-done villains with good performances from their actors.

Perhaps I would be a much harsher critic towards MCU Spidey had they not come after the two absurdly shitty Andrew Garfield movies? Fuck Andrew Garfield ... I still have not watched a movie that he's been in since those Spider-Man movies. I cannot bring myself to watch his stupid face in anything anymore, lol. He is hands-down the worst Peter Parker to date, and I don't even think he was a good Spider-Man. His quips sucked, and he said those quips at the most inappropriate times. Spider-Man's quips are supposed to annoy and rile up the bad guys, not the audience!

Tobey is "my" live action Spidey. He's the only live action Spider-Man that has truly felt like Spider-Man to me. Tom Holland is more of a Spider-Boy/Iron Man Jr, and Andrew Garfield was Edward Cullen with a forced Brooklyn accent. Tobey Maguire was Spider-Man to me. You can't have Spider-Man without a good Peter Parker, and Tobey is the best Peter Parker, hands down.

All this Garfield hate, damn. His movies were pretty good, I thought, certainly better than Spider-Man 3 or any of the shitty MCU ones. The big mistake was retelling the origin story a mere ten years after the Tobey origin movie. Nobody liked that, and I feel like the series was never able to escape that misstep. I liked the action, I liked Emma Stone, and I liked how slick it was without all that Xena/Hercules wire-fu rubbery CG model shit Raimi pulled.

45-year-old manlet Holland doesn't even feel like Spider-Man. Like others have said, his Peter is a spoiled rich kid with a hot aunt and a billionaire sugar daddy who loads him down with all the latest tech. When I was growing up Peter was a working man trying to balance superheroing with working a full-time job and pleasing his model wife. Now his biggest challenge is trying to bang black girls while keeping up with the quipping comedians known as The Avengers.

Who is the actual villain in this thing? I can't imagine any character from a Sony movie is going to be in it for more than a few minutes.

I am really growing to like this girl. Must be hard to stick to your guns on this in the movie business of all industries. I hope it doesn't harm her career too much.

I thought the Dr Strange movie sucked. It felt like a shittier retread of Iron Man 1, except he also inexplicably becomes the strongest sorcerer in the world for poorly explained reasons.

It also totally wasted Mads Mikkelson on a completely nothing villain. I don’t even know why they bother casting relatively big actors to do these roles only to give them absolutely nothing to work with.

the reason we all love Tobey over the others can basically boil down to Tobey being an adult, even a young adult for most of his films, while the other two are still in high school. So his spiderman is a hell of a lot more relatable, and his problems feel organic, his superhero stuff could easily be a substitute for any addictive hobby or volunteer work, like being into D&D or working at an animal shelter, or even moderating a forum. its a hassle for him but he still does it because of a need to help others and a slight enjoyment, even if it fucks up his personal life.

modern day high school spiderman is always a trust fund-esue kid, for the reasons we all said. the other problem is that there has never been a real explanation for why all these heros don't help each other with their problems, marvel never bothered giving a good answer 50 years ago and still haven't

lol, easily the worst character from Black Panther besides Dog Barking Guy. Hope she gets cast alongside Alec Baldwin.

Yeah, I was fine with Garfield and thought his recasting was premature. Tobey wins out as my favourite based on the first two films, but both of Garfield's run were competent enough to me.

Holland? I can't stand this zoomer attitude in his films where all the teachers are excessively retarded to make things happen, and Zendaya is a terrible MJ. I wanted to be okay with FFH, but it felt more like The New MCU Film Featuring Spider-Man rather than a Spiderman film of its own.

Yeah also another benefit to Tobey’s Spider-Man over both of the other ones is that he isn’t tied down to a cinematic universe. Holland’s Spider-Man films are less of an issue with him and are more of an issue with the MCU (like they’re still competent films. Garfield’s could’ve been great if his films were not just a messy attempt by Sony to make their own cinematic universe then make good films (which is the main issue with Amazing Spider-Man 2 among many others)

It also helps that even Spider-Man 3 is still a fun goofy movie to watch whereas Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a shallow attempt to make a cinematic universe where as a bad MCU film would be boring as hell.

Agatha looks to be getting her own show. In the comics she was something like a mentor to Wanda so it seemed a bit goofy she was a pure villain in Wandavision, so I guess they're doing a show to help turn her into something more positive so they can bring it more in line with the comics.

Based Nigga how long until she is demonized and called "literally hitler" and they revoke her blackness?

Of the problems with the two Amazing Spider-Man movies, Garfield is low on the list for me. Heck, I thought The Lizard was actually a pretty strong villain all things considered. Of course, people would reeee because of the "disabilities are not a thing to be cured" narrative in 2021.

Honestly who gives a shit. Can a show really be sustained by "It was Agatha all along" memes? Are consoomers just going to consoom as long as it has "Marvel Studios" attached to it?
