You know, Scorsese has worked to preserve African cinema. HERE

I didn't even know African cinema was a thing until I heard Scorsese was working to preserve it. And of course he does it because, you know, he gives a shit about the history of film, and you know, thinks cinema is an important part of culture and is worth preserving.

So before we start saying "He didn't like Black Panther because he's white", know who you are talking about first.

lmao Black Panther was just shitty wish fulfillment for the WE WUZ KANGS variety of black people, there's nothing deep or significant about it.
Has he forgotten that there's only 2 white people in that movie and that it takes mostly place in Wakanda?

All that talk about 'their culture' being on display just comes off as horrifying when you think about it.

A while ago, Howard Stern tried to get RDJ to say something about Scorcese but he was having none of it ("He's preserving my dad's movies too!") and dismissed any allegations that he was jealous of the MCU sucess ("Why would he be jealous? He's Martin Scorcese!")

Why can't everyone just follow RDJ's example and simply agree to disagree with Scorcese?

Because RDJ knows firsthand how it feels like to have everyone in the media and Hollywood dogpile on him.
All of that

but also Marty has a point.

But he is also unfair

Winter Soldier, Avengers I, Infinity War are good movies with moments of being great
Black Panther is good with moments of being great largely on what it did in the cultural zeitgeist
Thor 3 is Good with moments of being great from a comedic perspective
GotG 2 is good with moments of being great

Now Joker is great but its not yet High Cinema but its in the running for it. TDKR is also Great but its not yet high cinema

This isnt a bad portfolio for the theme park rides. Marty should talk about how you get them there

Everything else is a theme park ride

Unfair, but he can have his opinion regardless. I imagine he would have felt this way when his friends Lucas and Spielberg made their own theme park ride movies back in the day.

I would say while they are GOOD movies I dont think [From a Cinema art perspective] anything is good as a New Hope or Empire in the marvel docket yet. Nothing as good as Raiders

COPE readings are off the charts!

Yes, and they immediately brought them back in the next one, proving Scorsese's point. How many main characters have ACTUALLY died in the MCU? Stark. Black Widow, who is still getting a solo film. Who else, right Tony Stark.

Kevin, you sound like a butthurt faggot. Just stop it.

And, once again, I AM AN MCU FAN. Also a huge Scorsese fan. Jesus Christ, people are allowed to have opinions about movies ... Especially Marty.

Why does everyone love Infinity War so much? It has an overpowered villain we're supposed to care about with no build up (no cameos do not count as build up) and nonsensical motives. It was average for the MCU, not great. Thanos was wasted by the job they did with him.

Who here is hyped for Black Widow? Who here is hyped for The Eternals? Who here is hyped for Shang Chi?

Who is hyped for Doctor Strange 2 [in about 2 years] Spiderman 3 [in about 2 years], thor 4 [in about 2 years], BP 3 [in like 3 years], Blade [in like 3 years], and GotG 3 [in 3 maybe 4 years]
I'm hyped for the first Jay Jonah Jameson movie since the aughts, personally. Spiderman does traditionally get more screentime than he deserves in those, but it's worth it.

With Thanos only winning cause the good guys were completely tarded in outright refusing to do anything they needed to do to stop him thru the whole movie. Thanos outright told them several times that.

To be fair that's pretty standard for comic and comic based plots.

It's amazing how powerful Thanos is in and of himself vs. how useless having the infinity gauntlet and multiple stones turns out to be.

Boseman the Clown with his hot take:

"You don't like my children's movie? Well, you've got less melanin than me."

Fucking brilliant.
He can't even make a legitimate counter argument because there are none.
Scorsese is 100% correct. He's also the only living director who has delivered nothing but quality for decades.
It's like a MacDonalds employee talking trash because a 5 star chef said that their food is just empty calories.

This may have been shared in the past. But do these characters (in the movie version) look appealing to you at all?
And it's an obvious cost cutting measure because they all look the same, when the original designs looked so diverse.

All these suits look almost identical.
Not just to each other but also to the ones from all recent movies.
That's Disney for you, once they find a formula, the creativity immediately stops.
I've also read that it's just 1 guy making all the designs so maybe that's part of the problem as well.

Black Panther is used a lot when it comes to Scorsese's comments. That film must be the most protected film in the business, like it has this wall that protects it and makes it seem like it's some fucking cinema masterpiece to the general audience but when you take a look at the wall it's just average and an agenda piece. The fact it got an oscar nomination was fucking embarrassing and not for the fact it's a capeshit film but for that third act, that lazy CGI third act and it gets oscar nomination? Holy shit, that scene alone showed such unprofessionalism that if Scorsese happens to watch it one day, he is not going to change his mind lol he is going to laugh his ass off for being proved right or fucking cry at how cinema has fallen this deep.

If there is one MCU film that maybe possibly could be somewhat enjoyed a little by Scorsese is Winter Soldier (I loved it) but even then I imagine him saying "who the fuck are these people and why should I care? Do I have to watch fucking 5 plus themepark films to understand this one?" cause thats's just how the MCU is, it's just tedious television.

But some are really showing such amounts of lunacy when it comes to Scorsese and the MCU. I like Chadwick Boseman, he is a good actor but he fucking ended up looking like an idiot in that interview. Just ignore Scorsese lol.
I mean like, to be fair, what the fuck is he gonna say? If he’s asked about Scorcese’s opinion, he’s not in a position where he can just say no comment, because that will be taken as a tacit agreement, and for the woke that’s pretty much the same as being a race traitor.

I honestly sympathize with actors a bit in this respect, in that they really can’t state their true thoughts in the name of maintaining an image, and can’t even abstain from comment without people drawing their own conclusions. If my million dollar paycheck was on the line, I can’t say I wouldn’t embrace surface-level wokeness if it keeps the dough rolling in.

Don't forget that many actors have to sign contracts where they have to not say anything negative about the movies they worked on too unless it turns out to be a real flop.

They've had this problem for a long time. Understandable to an extent, it's hard to make comic book costumes look good in real life. But on the other hand, they use CG for this now and Mysterio looked great and true to his comics version.

Black Panther is one of the most mediocre of the MCU movies. There, I said it. The only standout is Killmonger, and even then, he's not in the movie enough.

And don't get me started on the final 20 minutes of the movie. That entire action sequence is among my least favorite of the entire MCU. It's horrible. Only Playstation 2 would be jealous of those effects.

Chadwick Boseman is a toolbag if his only argument is "Well, I'm black, so ..." Fuck right off with that. Have fun with people shouting nothing else but "Wakanda Forever" at you for the rest of your life.

He can take the RDJ route and look much better in the process but implying Scorsese is racist is going a little too far.

I don't even mind the people of the MCU saying that they disagree with Scorsese. That's fine. But all of them except for RDJ have looked like whiny clowns in the process of defending it. Gunn acted like a crybaby by saying his fee fees were hurt, Feige won't shut up about it, and Boseman is now crying racism. Clowns.

I don't fully agree with Scorsese's assessments. I agree with it in context to modern day cinema in general, but I think that some MCU movies have been blockbusters that have had just a little bit more on their minds than others, like the first Iron Man, The Winter Soldier, the Guardians movies, and Infinity War.

But guess what? Who cares. That's what opinions are. It's amazing how butthurt these supposed grownups are acting. Over superhero movies.

Excepting Winter Soldier where I can already see it, what more was on the minds of Iron Man, Infinity War, and both Guardians movies? This isn't meant as a rebuttal or anything. I'd like to know what you see.
