Question, why do you need big producers' opinions to validate your hatred of popcorn schlock?

Seriously this autistic hate boner some of you guys have for the MCU is just as annoying as guys like Moviebob comparing it to Citizen Kane.

Now, I don't need anyone's opinion to validate my hatred of the MCU.

But I'll admit that it is kind of cool to see two of your favorite filmmakers hate on the MCU and call out Disney for it.

Martin Scorsese is my favorite filmmaker of all time and I'm also a huge fan of Coppola's works too, The Godfather Trilogy and Bram Stoker's Dracula most of all, although I also enjoyed his adaptation of The Outsiders.

Fair enough I guess, but Steven Spielberg has been saying that superhero movies are nothing but a passing fancy for movie goers for years now so filmmakers dissing the MCU isn't exactly as profound or notable as you make it sound.

I know it's not notable in the grand scheme of things, but I still think it's awesome to me on a personal level.

Still, even if superheroes are here to stay, I really wish the MCU would die already and I'd like to see more popcorn flicks that are outside the superhero genre and outside the Whedon style of writing as well.

Joss Whedon has a fun style. But its been stagnant since the late 90s

we need to move past it.

People doing Joss Whedon imitations are even more stale then Joss

ANODA ONE

Keep in mind if you don't know who Ken Loach is, he's easily the most successful director at Cannes. He won the Palm D'or twice in ten years, won the Jury Prize three times and won the FIPRESCI prize three times.

Cannes still has a boner for Polanski and they fucking awarded that hack faggot Dolan and put Elle Fanning on the jury one year sooo...........

The MCU films are becoming overrated messes yes (except Black Widow I will defend muh espionage shit til I die) but tbh I'm not expecting avant garde cinema. (Notice Hulk is the odd one out. Ruffalo is a shit actor but its strange they aren't planning anything for him)

I do like that Scorsese loves The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus (two of my favorite films)

I wonder if all these directors just started a group chat. "Okay Ken you go after Francis"

I love the MCU films but to say they left a major cultural impact outside of introducing a cinematic universe (which really is just a series of big budget TV episodes played in the movie theaters) and superhero films are naive.

I do wonder if part of the reason people rabidly defend the MCU is the Disney brand.

If Fox or Sony had beaten them to the punch and made a cinematic universe surrounding the X-Men/FF and Spider-Man characters would we see the same die-hard fanboyism?

Why's everyone getting so uppity about capeshit lately? Just one guy getting defensive over another guy, so a third one gets defensive over that and it all just spirals like a tornado of 'tism?
I like these "asked and answered" posts. It's not really a secret that Hollywood is more incestuous than the Hapsburg dynasty.

People are getting all up in arms about directors having opinions. Like, whatever, man. I think that Scorsese saying what he said gave confidence for other directors to speak up ... Which is fine. Not everyone wants to make capeshit movies, and I understand their worry about the lack of variety in cinema at the moment.

I think that the best criticism against the MCU recently has come from Jennifer Aniston. She basically said that with things like Marvel movies being so popular, actors aren't given much of a choice on what roles they want if they want to remain relevant. Plus, Aniston hates acting with a constant green screen. She said she wanted movies like When Harry Met Sally to be big again ... Simply because those are the type of movies she enjoys watching and being in.

All legitimate complaints, I'd say. I think Jennifer Aniston just wants more variety ... Which I agree with completely (even though I have loved the MCU)!

Why do I bet anything white supremacist girl genuinely believes that nonsense? I've seen so many Disney/Nu Wars/MCU spergs admit liking only their mediocre movies because of politics "muh lesbian princess/Give Cap a Boyfriend/Stormpilot is Real/We are WAKANDAAAA"

because they arent as smart as Todd Phillips or Nolan to make a cape art film

Film doesnt HAVE to be high art to be Commercial art bruv.

The better MCU films are good films, and flirt with greatness
the bulk are just average
and several are outright drek...but not really bad drek

its more consistently watchable and/or entertaining then most brands

Universal and Toho have had cinematic universes since the middle of the last century.
