LEGOs of the '80s and '90s were more generic theme sets (like castle, city, space), and later original series ("Ice Planet", some undersea theme, etc). In Current Year, seems LEGOs are "hey kids build this exact thing from this famous corporate franchise" now.

Also LEGO guys of the past had a generic face, but now they're all specific characters. Gotta suppress that budding creativity?

any deviation in between exactly how the board has decided the consumer will feel about the product and how the consumer feels about the product must be eliminated. The future is a direct line connecting you and the product, all ambiguity lost, no room for your thoughts to squeeze in around the cold, perfect monolith. All preconceptions will be wiped clean to make room and they will verify the integrity of the transmitted message and it will be uncorrupted.

edit: in some way, you could see these chunks of “idea product” as legoes forming a nice neat wall to shut away your soul. neat.
