I'm calling fakery on this, he used a payment method he knew would decline as a way to appear tight on cash. I'd like to point out that when he was asked in this about exercise equipment (meaning a machine as opposed to a kettlebell or something) he only voiced his concern about the room he doesn't have to fit anything inside; he did not, even once, mention the cost of say, a rowing machine. Am I supposed to believe that someone with supposed overdraft issues would say they're not picking up a piece of exercise equipment because they take up too much room and NOT say they can't afford a gym membership (which he went on to mention as something he'd love to have, without addressing cost) or $200+ piece of equipment for the home?

I've been in those really tight situations financially. Your first thought about anything is the cost, not fantasizing about whether it would fit in your laundry room or Kat dungeon.

He'd love to have a gym membership? But you're busy, DSP, you have no free time you work your ass off. A 9 to 5 is easy compared to your job, where is your poor soul going to find the time to go to the Gym

He gets his exercise on his days off when he wakes up and eats breakfast at a restaurant, he has to walk to do that and it's super strenuous because he's not used to that.

My favorite was when he said, "Until I pay my credit card debt I'll NEVER be able to pay taxes!" Pretty telling about how he characterizes the Federal Tax liability on his $+100K income as "their stuff" and everything else he pays as "my stuff". I also love how he's instructing his paypigs to spend $25 to give him $7 and also receive social ostracization in T-shirt form. The problem is you're thinking logically like an adult who understands finances and cause and effect. Phil never thinks about his finances if he genuinely wants something. He just throws credit cards at whatever he wants until it is his. If Phil genuinely wanted to exercise, you know he'd look up the most expensive equipment, brag about buying it while his paypigs throw links at him for way cheaper but still effective items he just ignores, then bitch and moan about having no money. This is Phil though, so we don't ever have to worry about him getting the desire to suddenly exercise.

Phil for sure lies and exaggerates about his finances. Everyone knows he isn't in danger of losing his house month after month like he claims. I think the debt is real though. His "that's what credit cards are for" insult the other day pretty much sums up how he views finances, and is all the explanation you need for how he ended up in debt/how he continues to dig himself deeper into debt.
