Mandela effects and personal Mandela effects thread - Bernstein/Bernstain, Pikachu Tail, Mandela, now we got those out of the way.

But his name is spelled "onyx" it always has been? Its been burned into my brain as long as I can remember being "onyx" you know like the rock.

Am I the only one that remembers the fact Jackie Kennedy died with her husband by the same ricochet bullet that killed John at the Dallas motorcade? But now she died just over 30 years later.
What you are remembering is an episode of the original version of Quantum Leap from the 90's. (She was supposed to die as well, but all Sam's jumping saved her life. It was a biiiig twist at the time because she never died in our reality.)

My printer used to have usb port (you know, that specific usb printers use, annoying shape) rotated so it is onto its side, which was a complete ass due to it being located in a really deep hole.
I fiddled with it so much, I remember that shit very clearly.

But it changed to being located normal person way, horizontally. I am happy about that, but it made my paranoia fire up fierce.

Otherwise, I often get disappearing objects that fall on the floor, then are nowhere to be found when you move things, but this is not Mandela, just general reality bullshit.

I remember it being onyx, too. But it's allegedly always been onix. I guess we can chalk it up to seeing what we expect to see.

The Fruit of the Loom cornucopia is the only example I truly believe in. I have a very clear memory of learning the word cornucopia by asking what the curly object on the logo was while folding laundry with my mom. She told me it was a “horn of plenty,” a cornucopia.

What I also find interesting is that the commonly shared render of the cornucopia from the logo is almost universally agreed to be accurate. Many cornucopias are not nearly as curved as the one shown in that image. Yet whoever recreated it captured the exact form people remember, which makes it feel especially convincing to me. It was exactly like that.

This absolutely happened, I remember it too. There have been quite a few celebrities incorrectly reported dead (most famously Abe Vigoda on multiple occasions) and media NPCs jump on the "thoughts and prayers" tribute train before anyone bothers to contact the person and find out they're actually still alive.. I recall during Facebook's heyday it seemed to happen a lot, someone would just post "Morgan Freeman has died, RIP" and all of a sudden mainstream news were running their prepared obituaries
Oh yeah. It was the old school version of Sam Hyde being responsible for all mayhem in the world.

I don't really care for 'typo' Mandelas because people have shit literacy and dyslexia as it is, so they just get argued over inconclusively. Sometimes these are visual typos though, which have the same problem but are more fun. My favourite is the Volkswagen logo:

... which never actually looked like that.

Even though joining the V and W is aesthetically pleasing (to the point that people will draw it that way themselves without realizing it), it has never been done that way in the history of the company. There is always a gap between them. Even when forged out of metal, they take a chisel and stamp a mark separating the letters.

I just experienced a Christmas Mandela effect!

I was so sure that while the Dr Seuss book and 1960s TV special were called How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the 2000 Jim Carrey film was titled simply Grinch or possibly The Grinch. Apparently not, it used the full title too. This one has spooked me because I was utterly convinced and arguing with my sister about it. I even found it really odd that she was saying How the Grinch Stole Christmas instead of just The Grinch.

I also remember the Jim Carrey one being just "the Grinch," I always thought they retitled it to make the connection more clear.

One I consider an even lesser sub-set of "typo" mandelas is when it involves anime. Literally I saw a video of "anime mandela effects" and it was shit like "Zoro from One Piece is now called Zolo!" and like... dude, that's a translation issue, not reality changing.

A real anime mandela effect would be something like my own memory of there being a version of Negima where Negi has green hair.

.............

I forget if I mentioned this one, but does anyone besides me remember the sidescrolling platform game Titus the Fox being on the SNES? Apparently it never was, but I distinctly remember it being previewed in Nintendo Power. In our current reality, it only came out on PC, possibly Amiga, and the Gameboy Color. EDIT: I actually did mention this a few pages ago.

I can't find the video of Donald Trump in a fur coat walking through the tunnel towards the football stadium, where the camera whips around. Yet I know it existed as a meme.

Two lines from movies and tv I could have sworn were real and aren't.

TV: I thought when Lee and Kara first see each other in the BSG Miniseries and she was in the Brig for punching Tigh I couldn't have sworn their exchange was Lee saying, "In the Brig for hitting a superior officer" and her replying "Only a Higher Ranking one". But neither said anything like this.

Movie: Coming to America when Eddie Murphy gives the money to Don Ameche's Mortimer right before he looks at the money and calls for Randall, I could have sworn he said "It's that Nigger" a call back to when he called him a Nigger in Trading Places and again it never happened.

Congrats my friend, you are NOT experiencing a mandela effect.

The original posters AND original trailers for the movie just had "The Grinch".

It only got the full "How the" title after it hit theaters and started getting home media releases.

Not that I don't believe you, and really needed any flimsy excuse at all to rewatch BSG again.. but I'll give it a rewatch just to make sure you're right.

At this point
I wonder, is it possible to trick people into thinking they've been mandela effected?

like, you drive past your neighbour, wave at them and wish them good morning wearing red
then drive around the block and pass them again, wearing a different colored shirt and say the exact same lines.

to convince them that they got shifted into a different universe thats slightly different.

I have a few where I watched a movie in a cinema and then watch it again years later and the scene plays out differently than I remember.

One is from Team America: World Police. At the end, after Gary gives his speech and Alec Baldwin can't beat it, Kim Jong Il says "You are worthress Arec Baldrin" in a threatening tone. But I swear, when I watched it in the theater he screamed "You are useress, Arec Baldrin!"

The other was Freddy Vs Jason, one of my first R rated movie experiences. Watched it a few months ago and was surprised at how many cuts there were in scenes I remember being one take. Especially the ending, I remember it being Jason stomping out of the water towards the camera holding Freddy's head, and then as Jason walks past the camera, Freddy's head is in center frame and that's when Freddy grins. I even remember it being a bad CGI job. But then I watch it on DVD and it's clearly just Robert Englund lying in the water pretending to be a severed head.
