I am a sucker for candles. It totally counts.

I always go for Tuscany Candles and Candle-Lite since my local store usually has those on sale. I used to get Bath And Body Works ones, but they cost way too much for something so small. Which is a shame because there's a lot of glorious scents from BABW.

There are a lot of good candles on Etsy too. They have some unique "flavors" that can be really nice.

This is just my opinion

FTM:
- de-emphasize the hips, it’s one of the #1 giveaways of male or female. Do this by wearing longer shirts or things that don’t fit tightly around the hips
- baggier clothes can help add more bulk. Men are generally bulkier
-consider shoulder pads in all jackets, as they help make shoulders look broader
- wear dark colors on top to minimize the chest. Darker colors help give the illusion of making things look smaller
-go for a typical male hairstyle that goes with the face shape, not against it.

MTF:
- de-emphasize the hips, as stated in the FTM
- if you do wear a dress, wear one with sleeves or wear a cardigan/sweater/jacket with the dress. Sleeveless and strapless dresses emphasize the shoulders more
- when wearing pants, make shirts go past the hips to disguise lack of hips
- if you can’t get boob surgery, get bras that some breast cancer patients wear after a mastectomy. These can create the look of boobs even if there are aren’t any. Wear tops and dresses that don’t show the bra
- consider hip and butt padding. It’s not foolproof, but it can help give the illusion of shapelier hips
- don’t wear skinny pants or skintight leggings unless you have small calves and lean legs. Many men have big calves and bulkier thighs, so wearing skintight pants/leggings emphasizes how large they are
- go for a neutral makeup look. Bright colors often have a habit of emphasizing less desirable features. Troons make this mistake a lot by wearing bright pink and red lipstick
-learn to apply makeup properly, too many troons still can’t find the right shade of foundation and don’t have any idea of how color theory applies to makeup

Most of the tips focus on either disguising parts that would giveaway someone being a troon, or are things normal men and women wear. Blending in is one of the best ways to pass, but many troons try their best to stand out, which makes them easier to pick out.

When it comes to kibbe, basically the body types are about the overall vibe. Someone with a weird torso but who is overall mostly gamine would still be gamine, someone with stubby looking legs but who still had overall look and height for a dramatic would still be a dramatic. Of course macromastia is a thing that heavily affects the outer appearance in a way that you would look weird no matter what, but honestly with that kind of extreme issue I think all you can do is just to try to work with it, like with any other extreme body deformity.

Basically but it depends from the feature, like I think someone who is all romantic but has a sharp and big nose would still be romantic, but height on the other hand can affect your type a lot because taller people tend to have bigger bones overall and shorter people usually have smaller bones, which affects the body type. Gamine is basically a "teenage girl" type, youthful and kind of tomboyish looking, and soft gamine would be someone who has more romance in them so to speak, so she could have a bigger bust like you said but I think also some other soft features that lean to the romantic side of the scale, like rounder face and so on. Though bust size is a thing that really affects your silhouette, so it can't be "ignored" in a same way like nose, nose won't affect the way shirt sits on your body and so on. I wouldn't say over all one feature alone changes your type, but it really depends from the feature, like eye shape is going to affect the type less than height like I mentioned.

And yes, basically it is about how your body presents, like Tilda Swinton is a dramatic, but someone who is soft dramatic, still in same type group, looks very different from her.


Soft dramatic is similar looking body type compared to theatrical romantic which I am, with the biggest difference coming from height. I would drown in some maxi dresses which would look very good on tall soft dramatics, and with my shorter stature comes overall smaller bones, my shoe size is 5 (I think, 35 here where I live) which adds to my romantic features by being small and delicate, and I am not sure if it's common for very tall women to have that small feet? Like could they stay up at all if their feet were so small compared to the rest of their body, lol.

Ladies, I sliced one of my fingers on a vegetable peeler last night. One of my fingernails got absolutely rekt'd. Luckily I only got a small cut, so there wasn't much blood at all after I put pressure on it ... But my fingernail! It was cut halfway down my nail bed (in a funky "U" shape, even). It still hurts like a motherfucker even after 24 hours. To quote Elf, "my finger has a heartbeat."

But the thing I'm most upset about is that I love having cute nails during Christmastime. Some of the holiday nail art stuff and colors that I have are some of my favorites. This accident definitely foils some of that fun. Damn it!

My issue was that I got a manicure, but the acrylic they used was MMA and now my nails are DESTROYED. They're so soft, I can't even grow my natural nail out past the nail bed without them folding back or peeling off

I did acrylics a few times as a teenager. Never ever again.

I enjoy vintage fragrances, though I don't actively buy them. I love getting handmade fragrances from craftspeople though. I know a lovely lady who's been mixing and selling her own essential oils, perfume oils, and scent oils for 4 decades around various renn faires. I buy a few samples of scents here and there to experiment with and find ones I like. I have an addiction to handmade body products in general though.

On another topic, I trimmed my hair myself for once. I hadn't gone to a hair salon in over a year, partly due to covid. My hair was past my waist, and I ended up cutting off 8 inches. My ends were bad, and while it's not 100% neat they're a whole lot straighter now. Now to start growing it long again, but with regular trims every few months.

I have Shalimar parfum de toilette (1980ish) an 80s Mitsouko edt and extrait, the vintage Shalimar edc (this is really good and maybe my favorite of the bunch), the old 80s red bottle of Samsara, L'heure Bleue edt and I haven't gotten it yet but I hunted down a decant of Apres L'Ondee edp.

My husband is in the antiques business so we go to tons of estate sales/thrift shops etc and most of what I have found has been really cheap, the only thing I splurged on was the Apres L'ondee but I wanted to try it so bad!

I have a fairly extensive collection of vintage Estee Lauder minis as well.

I've been into perfume for as long as I can remember and I've seen vintage bottles at the thrift stores for a long time but I overlooked a lot of them because I thought they'd be too "old fashioned" for me, but then I just started trying them and I ended up really enjoying them. The Guerlain's especially, now I have a huge list of their perfumes I want to try.

For the past few years I was mostly into niche natural perfumes and a lot of those have something a bit old fashioned about them because they use a lot of the old school tricks of natural fixatives in the base notes, so it sort of expanded my ideas about what I like in a perfume and a lot of vintage perfumes have those same qualities and tbh even some of the pricier ones are more affordable than the naturals I was into.

could you actually hear me sigh 'yeeeeessssss'? I also have had both the 80s samsara and Shalimar but they didn't start as vintage to me Shalimar was 'my' perfume for YEARS when you actually had to go to the department store and purchase perfume. I got samsara in my first online order of perfume. I LITERALLY just ran out of the last of my early nineties Shalimar. It was my first adult perfume and was SO expensive (or seemed it when previously I had worn body spray or VS crap).

in short, I envy you currently.

I love Shalimar. It's a beautiful classic perfume. It was my grandmother's signature fragrance. Every time I smell Shalimar, I think of her, and it makes me smile. So yeah, I pretty much always have a bottle of it (a small bottle, mind you-- that stuff's expensive lol).

In terms of other vintage fragrances I enjoy, I really love the OG Dior Poison. It definitely smells like something from the 1980's (in a good way). Dior Poison is what I enjoy wearing during the Fall. It makes me feel a bit goth-y (in a good way) whenever I wear it.

I have Opium by YSL- late 70s, I think?. I also have the newer Black Opium. I'm not super into perfumes so all I can say is that they both smell good and I like them both.

Do any of you guys vintage shop online, like on TheRealReal or Vestiairecollective? I've been trying to get into that, but it's intimidating. I hear all the time that it's better to get, say, a $200 coat or bag second-hand that cost $1000 originally than a new $200 coat because the craftmanship's better and it will last longer, but it seems like a lot of work to sift through all of those pages, inspect the photo for stains/imperfections, and then buy it without trying it on/seeing it in person.

Handbags are a whole other animal. Should I buy a cheaper one that I like, or should I save up for a timeless classic? Should I be focusing on "good investments"/resale value? Usually by the time I've gone through the long and grueling "is this worth it?" checklist, it's gone.

Another thing I worry about (probably wrongfully) is that someone will see me with something with a logo on it and immediately think I'm a pompous, wealth-flaunting dick even though the thing is ~20 years old and I bought it at a 90% discount. At the same time, buying stuff secondhand has some stigma to it.

I had a plan to get a ton of staples on Cyber Monday, but I ended up only getting a pair of jeans. I've heard a lot of good things about Agolde's Riley jeans (mostly that they're super flattering) and I'm excited to try them out. I was considering getting a Babaton Slouch Wool Coat from Aritzia in the sort of beige color, but it was sold out.

Pretty much. A friend of mine who is FTM did exactly the stuff you mentioned, but on top of that also used hair grower stuff for men to get facial hair.
