I know you can sometimes get their palettes cheap as shit at TJ Maxx etc. but the rest of their site can rarely be found at this deep of discount.
  • I wish they hadn't discontinued their blushes and highlighters (haven't tried the new shit).
  • Love the setting spray but have a stash already and it's not a must-have there are tons of great sprays out there
  • I love their lipsticks but hate that new packaging SO MUCH I refuse to buy them. Cap isn't secure whatsoever.
  • I dislike the reformulated lipgloss.
  • I still love their eyeliners and lipliners!
  • Single eyeshadows are hit or miss but if there's shades you know you love it's a good time to stock up (although I have seen just the single eyeshadows go on deeper discount occasionally).
  • I have a few UD makeup brushes and love them but they aren't a must-have
I'm tempted to try a bunch of their new shit with the sale but I'm not gonna tbh. One of my holy grail eyeshadows is Mushroom and I bought "a backup" even though I have like 3 already; got 3 Moondust shadows (finally got Diamond Dog before it sold out uwu) and a few pencils.

UD lipsticks are high quality. Jilted is an all time favorite shade from anything.

I'm trying out the sensationail home gel kit since salons are still locked down where i am. It actually has been pretty good, lasts about two weeks which is less than a salon but it will boll me over until the reopen.

Their post on Twitter blew up. A lot of people went through the same thing you did. Scalpers bought a bunch and reselling them for a ridiculous amount of money.

I'll get that palette one day...
 
Quick review of a new set from YesStyle and their ordering process:

I recently purchased the Moon City matching set in Almond. I ordered it on June 8th and it arrived yesterday, so it took about 11 days to arrive via FedEx.

The measurements on this set are SO. OFF. The cardigan and turtleneck are nice but the skirt is obscenely short. The size guide says that the skirt will fit anyone with a waist between 24 and 35 inches. I'm convinced they just pulled this out of their ass because its stretched to almost the limit on my ~26 inch waist. If you have any form of an ass, this skirt is just straight-up not going to cover your pussy.

Overall I'd give my experience a 4/10. I'll probably end up wearing the cardigan, but they need to get their sizing in order. The skirt was really disappointing.

I had a similar experience with yesstyle skirts. One skirt I got was 2" shorter than the measurements, and one was 7" too long! I still like them and was overall happy with my order, but wtf.

Most of the skirts I got came with built in shorts though which is nice. I ordered 4 skirts in total and the other 2 didn't seem different from what I expected, though I didn't actually measure them.
 
So anyone else breaking out because of mask wearage? I'm lucky that my brith control does a good job of handling my skin (just the occasional white head near my nose/chin etc) but now I've got like, constant red splotches especially under where the straps are. I'm trying my best to deal with it with my limited budget and skincare knowledge but it's starting to really bug me.

One thing that has helped me prevent breakouts is moisturizing twice a day (once in the morning and once before bed). I use CeraVe, which isn’t too expensive and it does the trick. Also, look for skincare products that use hydraluronic acid (this ingredient helps get rid of and prevent breakouts).

^^^ this. i'm such a shill for the ordinary's aha/bha peel, it's definitely my favourite product they sell - i must have convinced half the people i know irl to try it by now.
i use a lot of their other stuff too so figured i might as well chime in with the ones i think are worth buying:

  • 'buffet', hyaluronic acid + b5 & niacinamide + zinc are all really thick and moisturising solutions, i like to use one of these after doing the peel, it makes your skin look so shiny and new
  • ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate + vitamin f is a much more viscous oily product but it absorbs super well into the skin and makes it appear visibly bouncier, like i massage it into my face and any fine lines just disappear
  • anything with salicylic acid is good but you don't wanna use it at the same time as the aha/bha as that'd too much corrosion which could lead to irritation

I also recommend their Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% it does wonder for acne scars, pretty much my entire skincare is made of the ordinary products, it's cheap and their ingredients are nice also because Hyram said good thing about that brand and that's one of the only youtuber I'll trust when it comes to skincare products reviews because he isn't biased and knows what he's talking about.
Can also recommend their retinoids and retinol (retinol is really strong so get the retinoid if you got sensible skin/not used to that type of product) it's really nice for textural irregularities and anti-aging, you're never too young to start caring about that.
The only downside I got for that brand is that they tend to have out of stock products really often, it was impossible to get my hands on the salicidic acid 2% solution I even went to one of their physical store and other websites it's sold out everywhere. I finally found the exact same product on EtatPur it was a bit more pricy (around 15e) but work nicely and you don't need much.

I've been getting blackheads/clogged pores in the areas where the mask kind of digs into my face. I've been doing the salicylic/mandelic acid peel from makeup artists choice once a week and it has cleared my pores like crazy.

I love those makeup artist's choice peels, they're pretty cheap and they work really well. I stopped doing them for awhile because I hated going to work with a flaky face for 2 days after the peel, but now I can hide my flakes behind the mask, so that's pretty nice.

Speaking of masks, I really miss lipstick! It's usually the only color makeup I bother with for work since it's fast and easy. I love wearing coral/peach colors in the summer but now I only ever wear them hanging out in my garden. My favorite lately is Urban Decay Liar.

I've been doing bolder eyeshadow looks than I would usually wear to work though, I feel like the mask keeps it from looking too overdone. I am really into using a matte periwinkle eyeshadow around my lashline lately, blended out with some variation of dusty pink/lavender.

If you like capes, they sell plenty on Etsy. The shop I ordered the cape from is called CostureroReal (it’s based in Spain). Here’s some other capes from that store:

Most of the capes are around $100 (US) or more. That said, the pricing isn’t too bad (especially for something so niche).
 
While they’re not really capes, I thought about purchasing a hooded shawl from this Etsy shop at some point.

Also, I finally picked up the Juvia’s Place Warrior palette from Ulta along with a eye pencil for my mom. I thought about getting the Nomad palette but I am going to wait more on that one since it is more like a fall palette.

Those hooded shawls are super cute. They seem like they’d be a really cute winter accessory. They also look pretty versatile. I can see your hesitation though, they are pretty expensive (but handmade stuff is expensive in general).
 
OK, I'm starting to change my mind on leggings. When I actually wear them for working out, they piss me off. One of my thighs was rubbed raw by the rough seam on a cheap pair, but I just don't trust women's activewear brands these days and don't know who to buy from. Not after seeing Fabletics and Lululemon be such shit. And Nike leggings are like seventy-five dollars a pair. Fuck leggings.

In other (less hostile) news, I decided to try out Zeesea Cosmetics. They're a Chinese brand, so God only knows what's in it, but they had some palettes produced in collaboration with the British Museum and I'm a slut for anything ancient Egypt-themed. And the reviews weren't awful. I ordered their "Mysterious Egypt" eyeshadow palette in Cherry Wine. If it's junk, I can crumble the cakes up and use them for art projects, but I'm hoping I can actually wear it. Anyone have any experience with Zeesea?
 
Ok Kiwi ladies, let me tell you about my weekend.

On Saturday I tried to take a road trip. 2 hours one way turned into 2.5 with all the traffic. My car decided I had had enough AC for the summer, and would only blow hot air. Sweaty and miserable, I opened up the windows and just let the wind bash me in the face. Then the rain rolled in. My windshield fogged right the fuck up. How do you solve windshield fogging? By blasting hot air at the windshield and keeping a window cracked. So now I was wet and sweaty. I got to my destination and shopped at a store that also had no air conditioning, wearing a face mask, so my hot breath blasting up from the top of the mask made my bangs an absolute mess and kicked up oil production in my T-zone. Then a two hour drive back in torrential rain, window cracked and a towel on my arm, after getting lost and being almost brought to tears.

Today I went motorcycle riding with Mr. Polexio. I have a 3/4 helmet and goggles, but wind was still blasting me in the face. Sun streaming down on me. 83 degrees. 70 miles per hour. 4 hours of riding.

And both last night and tonight I looked in the mirror, my eyeshadow had not BUDGED.

Colourpop eyeshadow with NYX Pigment Primer lid primer.

I had run out of the NYX and used it Cosmetics primer and Tarte primer for the past few months and neither of those did nearly as well. The it Cosmetics brand was ok but at the end of a sweaty day I would have a big nasty crease. Even Urban Decay primer didn't even come close to this magic combo. I'm so completely sold.

In other news, ipsy sent me Kohl of Intense Honor Kajal by Sugar Cosmetics (shade is Black Out) and it's also glorious. I just put three dots along my eyelid and blend it out to a smoky look, and it too stays right where it is. Also big props to Ciate London Wonderwand mascara, it might be less good over time but right now it's excellent. Gorgeous definition, no clumping, and no blasting myself in the face with a hair dryer to make sure it doesn't smudge my lids. The brush seems so un-innovative but damn if it doesn't work. (ipsy is 3 for 4 with great mascaras incidentally)

Oo I’ve been looking for a good kohl liner, I’ll definitely have to try the Sugar Cosmetics one out.

In skincare news I foolishly tried to replace First Aid Beauty’s ultra repair cream (~$34) with a slightly cheaper alternative (Illiyoon ceramide cream, ~$20) and ended up flaring up my eczema for the following few days:)). Ordered a new tub of the FAB stuff right away, now my skin is back to normal, thank goodness

Has anyone tried Japanese “toners?” Instead of focusing on astringents, they are purely hydrating; I’ve been using Hada Lobo’s Gokujun Hyaluronic lotion “moist type” (~$12) and it has helped to soften and hydrate my skin so much! Definitely recommend, especially for sensitive skin!
