Altar Houseline is made in the US and they have plus sizes which they make to order: https://www.altarpdx.com/collections/altar-houseline

Their website doesn't really do their brand justice. Everything I've seen from them has nice quality materials and the place has a cool witchy aesthetic that doesn't really come across online. They probably have other made in the US clothes on their website too.

Sorry if this is late ... I have long, straight hair (medium-thick coverage but fine strands) and my experience has been that braiding it or putting it up to sleep is really more of a pain in the long run. If you move around at all during the night, even a loose braid or bun will end up putting tension on your hair at some point, and you'll get uneven breakage. I think a certain amount of matting or frizz in the morning is the lesser of the hair evils.

For what it's worth, my hairdresser recommended conditioning the middle and the ends (but not the scalp), and sleeping with loose hair. I've never had a bad experience or damage from sleeping with my hair still slightly damp, but YMMV.

And now my general question for the thread ... Does anyone have any recommendations for a good women's clothing brand that's made in the US? A lot of the stuff for plus-size women is the Chinese-made fast fashion, but I've never been happy with the quality of those pieces, and I'd prefer to support US-based businesses if possible.

I presume they're not US made but don't actually know BUT Lands End makes everything in plus size and it's very well made, basically indestructible, timeless and often on sale. on sale enough actually that I just go to clearance or dresses sort low to high.

Has anyone tried those detangling brushes like Curltastic, EZ Detangler Brush or Felicia Leatherwood? I know they’re more for anyone with kinky/coily hair, but I am curious if they could be better for dealing with knots. I wear my hair up in a ponytail a lot and I get these huge knots in my hair to the point where the brushes I have aren’t effective.

I use a tangle teaser for my hair. It's really good for detangling and getting out those really tiny knots. It works for all hair types as far as I can recall. Not just coily ones.

if you have some acne, don't want to wear makeup, but live with room mates or a partner and don't want them to see your shame, dab a bit of clay mask onto the spot. explain nothing. now its a cute habit, you're just a girl with some white dots on her face.
i hope having acne cream on 24/7 just becomes a trend. I have an acne fighting concealer but I dont like the idea of it sitting on my pores when im just chilling at home on a weekend.


another thing i'd like to trend for those of us with too much hair is the reverse mullet. pull your hair to the front and just chop the back, now you have less hair to deal with but at least from the front you look the same. blame it on a bad breakup.

I've extracted them, used different clay and charcoal masks, and make sure to really get all of my makeup off everyday, but theyre always still there. Right now I'm washing my face every other night with the Juice Beauty Acne Cleanser, and the other nights I don't I use the Fresh Soy Cleanser, then follow it up with the Clinique Acne Gel. I definitely make sure to use a heavier night cream too to combat the gel from drying my face out.

You might want to try an AHA/BHA peeling mask to help with exfoliation. I use The Ordinary AHA 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution a couple times a week. Its inexpensive, and you can get it at Ulta and Sephora. It's a bit tingly when you apply it, but you only wear it for 10 minutes and when you rinse it off your skin is very smooth.

I know you can sometimes get their palettes cheap as shit at TJ Maxx etc. but the rest of their site can rarely be found at this deep of discount.
  • I wish they hadn't discontinued their blushes and highlighters (haven't tried the new shit).
  • Love the setting spray but have a stash already and it's not a must-have there are tons of great sprays out there
  • I love their lipsticks but hate that new packaging SO MUCH I refuse to buy them. Cap isn't secure whatsoever.
  • I dislike the reformulated lipgloss.
  • I still love their eyeliners and lipliners!
  • Single eyeshadows are hit or miss but if there's shades you know you love it's a good time to stock up (although I have seen just the single eyeshadows go on deeper discount occasionally).
  • I have a few UD makeup brushes and love them but they aren't a must-have
I'm tempted to try a bunch of their new shit with the sale but I'm not gonna tbh. One of my holy grail eyeshadows is Mushroom and I bought "a backup" even though I have like 3 already; got 3 Moondust shadows (finally got Diamond Dog before it sold out uwu) and a few pencils.
 
This hair brush is pretty amazing. I've been having a hard time with knots in my hair and this does the job well.

Has anyone tried products from The Lip Bar?

^^^ this. i'm such a shill for the ordinary's aha/bha peel, it's definitely my favourite product they sell - i must have convinced half the people i know irl to try it by now.
i use a lot of their other stuff too so figured i might as well chime in with the ones i think are worth buying:

  • 'buffet', hyaluronic acid + b5 & niacinamide + zinc are all really thick and moisturising solutions, i like to use one of these after doing the peel, it makes your skin look so shiny and new
  • ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate + vitamin f is a much more viscous oily product but it absorbs super well into the skin and makes it appear visibly bouncier, like i massage it into my face and any fine lines just disappear
  • anything with salicylic acid is good but you don't wanna use it at the same time as the aha/bha as that'd too much corrosion which could lead to irritation
 
Does anyone have recommendations for wavy hair products? I'm trying to get the waves out of my hair after treating it like straight hair my whole life. I'm kind of lost because most of the things I see are for people with curly hair or wavier hair than me(I'm 2A)

Yesssss totally I love that brand. Their stuffs all reasonably priced, well-made and comes super quick in the post. Been buying from them for years. This was the last thing I bought:

I'm super excited to have found this thread. Here's a quick review of a few things I bought off Shein just because it was much better than I anticipated.

The first thing I bought was these leggings. They're amazing. Very soft and not completely see-through like I was expecting. 9/10.

I also bought this set. It's 100% polyester, so not the most comfortable in the heat but my expectations were very low. 5/10.

Overall, the quality was higher than I expected. Everything is 100% polyester (so don't put it in the dryer) but it's cheap as shit so whatever. I'll order again. The sizing is very much in line with what you see on the website, which is always hit or miss with these Chinese websites. Shipping also wasn't insane--half of my package arrived in about 5 days, while the rest got here in about a week and a half.

It's been such a long time since I bought anything from Boohoo that this may not be the case anymore... but I stopped buying because the quality was shit lol

What Twinks said. I rotate out some of their basic tees (they are actually super soft and have a scooped hem which I like) in my 'clothes to slob around home in' drawer, but otherwise stuff falls apart pretty quickly I find.

In addition to an AHA/BHA (for me it’s The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% on the nose) you could also try an extractor tool. Little steel bar with two different sized loops at each end. That plus using an active should knock them right out.
