Bought this cute little dress on sale today! I'm thinking about wearing it tomorrow. Though it's very cold here so I'm gonna have to wear some leggings and a cardigan with it.

Ladies, please let me get on my hype shit. Ditch the magnetic lashes. They don't sit right, we know this. Drove me mad that you couldn't stand them up 'on the band' so to speak.

If you can spend a few coins, Lashify is the best lash product I've ever used. After years of extensions I don't think I'll ever go back. Beautiful lashes that last about a week, zero damage to my naturals. It's brilliant. A little pricey, but nothing compared to extensions.

There's also a FB group about it that is full of lolcows, but that's just an added treat.

Wow, this sounds like the kind of thing I'd like. Part of it is I just don't like going to salons on a regular basis to get stuff done, I'd rather do it at home.
How much do you end up spending on refill supplies? They don't come off with makeup cleanser?

Been making these headpieces out of cable ties (it's so easy and cheap to do, give it a try if you're ever bored)
Would you buy something like this for a party or festival or whatever? If so how much would you expect to spend on it?

I'm real bad at pricing things. They didn't cost a lot to make or take a lot of time so I won't be insulted by ur answer

So to get started you buy their 'control kit' for $145, comes with the essentials and two sets of lashes (they call them gossamers). There are a few add ons I think are important, but the basics will do you. I was so impressed so early I basically jumped on their membership program straight away. Which is discounted products and super flexible - it's just a minimum of 4 products, at a frequency that suits you (weekly, up to 2 monthly). You can change what you get delivered every time as well, if you wanna mix things up and what not.

I currently do every 2 months, and it's roughly putting me back $150. So $75 a month... but I prefer their volume lashes which are more expensive, and am usually picking up an extra product or two. If I was being thrifty I could probably get by on about $40/months worth. Which is nothing compared to the money and TIME I was spending in a salon chair. I can get a basic set on in about 10 minutes... something more advanced/dramatic that involves stacking etc about 20.
Also, the lashes aren't designed to be cleaned and re-used, but a lot of people do. I prefer a fresh set, but if they come off in decent condition I'll clean and put aside for a rainy day.

I will say there's a bit of a learning curve, and some people struggle with longevity (oily skin, if you sleep on your face etc)... but I've not had problems. I usually prefer to do them in 4/5 day cycles to change up the style and give my eyes a proper scrub/a break. As to cleansing, same as extensions - no oil, breaks down the bond. Micellar water on a pad to gently remove eye makeup, cleanse face as normal.

They may not be for everyone, but for natural lash health, convenience, they are just the best thing I've ever used. They look a million times better and more natural than strips. They look like extensions.

Damn. I am sold. Gonna order some. My lash lady isn't stupid expensive although with infills it can get costly and they do last a good while but you're right. The time spent is the worse thing to me. I'm lazy. I want pretty eyes in like thirty mins and that's it.

How are they with sleep? I tend to sleep on my back with extensions but a lot of the time I'm a face plant sperg in pillows and tend to loose my lashes quicker that way.

As a tall lady with nice legs, I'm sick of dresses and rompers being so short that they show the cheeks. I may be hippie trash but it isn't the micro-miniskirt 60s anymore - I want to wear cute, summery/spring things without having to worry about the general populace seeing half of my ass.

Maybe I’m just a huge dork, but have you tried wearing bike-type shorts underneath those type of dresses? They have them at H&M for cheap. I also have a long torso and those can be helpful if only just for peace of mind!

How much do you have in them material wise? They would be fun for like a party in the same way party hats are used.

If you have $1 worth of material in them, I would sell them for not more than 5 if you were selling them at a booth or something. You could probably get away with 10 with a bunch or rich millennial hippy types. If you were selling them in quantity, like say 25 for a party, maybe 4 a piece?

These aren't a durable item, more of a disposable type item, so price accordingly.

I get into these slumps in life where makeup just isn't a priority but then the expiry dates creep ever closer until I have to throw away a barely used product for my own hygiene. I treated myself to non shitty mascara last December but the last time I used it was over a month ago, if I go by the three month rule for eye makeup it should be dumped by now and I'd feel like I wasted what I spent on it. How do I get around this problem without cutting the issue out completely? Makeup makes me feel more presentable when I need to be and learning how to do it right has been surprisingly fun, I don't think I can go back to swearing that it's 'pointless' to save my money cuz im not like other grils

just buy trial/sample sizes. less guilt at throwing away. also, I absolutely do not throw away at 3 months. I throw away when used up or flaky.

Agreed on the sample mascaras. I get them in my Ipsy bags and just use those now instead of buying full tubes. I also use a fan brush for mascara. I bought one from Elf when they were having a moment, and now I can't find them anymore, so if anyone knows which companies still makes mascara fan brushes, I would love some recommendations. Otherwise, I may have to try one of my unused fine art fan brushes.

You could get one in a set if you looked around, but then you'd have a whole set you don't need. I don't apply mascara like that but if I was in your shoes I'd just do the art brush. Probably better quality anyway.

Also I'm a nasty bitch that uses mascara forevvver, i just add some sterile saline solution when it starts gettin dry

Actually, I am exceptional. There were several brands on Amazon when I just looked. I wonder what I searched for last time?

Imagining reconstituted dried mascara anywhere near my eye makes my corneas twitch in horror. But it's probably fine and I'm just being a baby.

I’m a pretty big makeup user but I have never thrown a mascara away in three months unless something was terribly wrong with it. Mascara probably averages 6 months before it’s either used up or dried up for me, and then I throw it away. Everything else keeps waaaaay longer. Expiration dates on makeup are nonsense. If it doesn’t smell bad and it hasn’t changed color or function, it’s staying.

I have some lipsticks that are most definitely way past their expiration date. They still perform fine, they smell normal, and my skin hasn't had any reactions to them. I throw my lippies out the moment they start to smell "off" to me.

I've held onto eyeshadow palettes and powder blushes for several years, too ... And they still perform just fine. I stay on top of cleaning my makeup brushes and I don't share my makeup, so ... Why throw it out if it still performs just as good as it did when I first got it?

And yes, I use my mascara up until it starts getting gunky and flakey. Never had issues of "eye infections" or anything of the sort for holding onto a mascara past 3 months. On average, I probably buy myself a new tube every 4-5 months (as mascara is actually one of my most used beauty products).

I have many perfumes that are past their expiration date, too. The key is to not expose the bottles to sunlight. I've never done that, and my perfumes last.

So yeah ... It's all about taking good care of your shit and keeping things clean, I'd say.

Expiration dates are usually just conservative estimates but as makeup ages it tends to break down and accumulate bacteria that can do some nasty shit to your skin.

You do you and all but it can get sketchy.

Depending on how short you're talking you can also just do leggings.

Or go all 16th century and wear a petticoat.

Shorts can work okay but it really depends on your proportions and the dress length imo.

I haven't used anything they've made myself, but I've heard mixed things. Sometimes you get stuff that works, sometimes it's garbage and their customer service is nonexistent. They also seem to be lying about about the "made in the USA" thing considering how dodgy they are about it last I heard, if that's an issue for you.
