I don’t know if this is the right place for this. I need to lose weight. I was very sick for 6 months and between the sickness and the meds to cure it, I gained. I have no clue how to lose it, what to eat, when to eat....etc.

Lands' End has tons of longer shorts. They can be a little pricey, but the quality is good.
Perfect call. I looked and they've actually got a lot of shorts on sale right now, including lots of longer ones. (Which makes sense, at the end of the summer.)

For anyone unfamiliar with Lands' End, they're a great place to pick up boring basics like layering tees, professional skirts, etc. when they run sales. By no means are they a place to express yourself but it's the perfect place to get workable stuff that lasts and lasts. Don't buy outside of sales, though.

I just did an impulse buy and got these shoes. I got them online so it will be a while until I see them in person. I just hope they fit

thanks I need them. where'd you get them?
They are from Irregular Choice. It’s a store from the UK. If they don’t have your size at the moment you can sign up for an email alert for when they are back in stock. Most of the reviews said they ranged from being roomy to just right.

For all the Spongebob fans out there, I got this bag a few weeks ago from Hot Topic. It’s a really great bag and it is very roomy despite being a mini backpack. 5/5 for me.

Skincare question from a guy for all you lady Kiwis- I'm really pasty and I need a high SPF sunblock, lest I turn into a lobster with more than an hour of sun exposure.

I find most of the creams really greasy and nasty-feeling (the best was the Neutrogena SPF 110, but even that I found somewhat heavy) and I hate applying them. I usually use a spray, but I recall hearing somewhere that they dry out your skin. Is there any truth to that, or am I fine using a spray?

you live in canada gorl (I hovered over your username and it says canada), you don't need spf 110. try neutrogena ultra-sheer dry-touch. edit: I skimmed your post and didn't see the part where you said you burn after one hour of sun exposure. if that's true you should see a dermatologist or something.

as for spray, idk if it would dry your skin out. sunscreen is cheap enough that you should just buy one and try. that being said, sprays aren't great for sun protection. most people don't apply enough, or don't apply evenly enough. they aren't as user friendly and their efficacy is a bit questionable.

Do you take any vitamin D? It might help you use sunlight better if you don’t already, also beta-carotene is good to supplement.

As for sunscreen suggestions, apparently I’ve heard decent things about some of the Korean ones not having a white cast and sinking into skin well. Biore UV Aqua rich 50+ is quite raved about with a lot of beauty communities. Finding a broad spectrum is ideal. And 110 spf, if you’re paying extra, isn’t worth it.

(Edit: Apparently they changed the formula for the one I was recommending, so that’s pretty gay. Still Korean ones in general still good).

Hands down my absolute cannot be beat sunscreen (and trust me I have tried well over $500's worth over the years) is Make P:rem UV Defence Sun Gel. Zero sunscreen smell, zero white cast, zero stickiness, high broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection factor, just all around wonderful formulation with this one. It is a bit pricey. but IMO totally worth it. If you're in Canada you absolutely do need a high SPF especially when it's snowing and you have the UV reflection off the snow amplified. Also remember to reapply every 30 minutes or so if you're spending your time outdoors. I know that seems extra AF but it's really necessary if you burn the way you say you do. Best of luck out there friend!

ETA: This one would be for the face only unless you're rolling in dough. For the body anything with Meroxyl would work well for you. Anything from Avene, Bioderma, or even Ombrelle will work beautifully for the body! Sunscreens have come a long way in the past 10 years and if you're in Europe, Asia, or Canada we get to enjoy the good stuff that the slow AF USDA hasn't approved yet.

You don't need anything higher than 50 SPF. SPF's benefits drop off pretty quickly. For example, 25 SPF blocks about 96% of UV, whereas 50 SPF blocks 98%. Higher SPF numbers are a scam to get more money. I use Neutrogena Water Boost SPF which does not get in my eyes, does not feel tacky, and also moisturizes

Ladies: Are there any elegant comfortable heel brands? I usually wear flats but lately I've been trying to project a more ~elegant~ image. I looked for comfortable heels online, but they are all kind of dowdy. Do you know of any stylish pump brands that someone could stand and walk in for 8 hours without foot pain or am I going to have to bite the bullet?

I like very basic, staple shoes, so I'm not sure if these might be seen as "dowdy". These are my absolute favorite pumps. Clark's makes these same pumps every year, but makes slight adjustments and calls them a new name. These are my absolute favorite (in the black leather, but also comes in patent nude and patent black): https://www.clarksusa.com/c/Kaylin-Cara/p/26145688

I've found that there's always one or two pumps from their Artisan collection that I like, too. Lots of ugly old lady shit, but they also make a few good things for young people. Plus, I can walk in them all day (and often do for work).

I like Clark's. They're so comfortable and once you look past the dowdier options they have some really cute things.
Fwiw my favorite shoes brand is Jeffrey Campbell and I also like Clark's. I think if the rest of the outfit projects the right vibe, the Clark's will blend in.
I have also heard good things about everlane, and they have that classy vibe. But I haven't tried them personally.

former all heels, all the time wearer here. shockingly,, steve madden makes the most comfortable heels that are 3 or more inches high.

for more comfortable, less hight, less stiletto type- earth origins makes mostly sensible shoes but can have found more stylish /heeled ones once in a while. you can wear those days on end.

white mountain has a line called rialto which also bridge the gap between real heels and sensible that can be worn comfortably for dayz.

a large part of my criteria for comfort includes non slip. because, fuck falling. however, I got a pair of Patrizia slingbacks that were a dream for comfort however are slick as shit even though they look nonskid

Does anyone know where to buy good camisoles that aren’t sheer and have built in bras? I buy some of mine from Buckle, but I have to always cover them up because the bra shows through.
