would anyone be willing to start a r/makeupaddiction thread? i'm not a heavy enough reader of it to make a good op, but i love pail princess and cultural appropriation drama so i'd love it if someone else did
Do you read r/muacirclejerk? It's pretty funny, though the women there are total cows too.

Anyone have any beauty subscription box recs? I just canceled both Sephora Play and Ipsy. Sephora was sending me such junk and despite Ipsy having that extensive profile to fill out, they managed to get it wrong one too many times.

I was thinking of trying Boxycharm but I am open to ones I may not have heard of or are less popular. I like getting brushes and actual makeup more than hair or skin products. Don't want black eyeliner every month.

If you have a Walgreens near you that's the best place to go to try the product out. They carry a wide variety and if you get there during the sales time, they're sometimes buy one get one half off. The one where I live is currently doing that. Vanilla Bean and the Coconut tard cum (uh...m.i.l.k. lol) one smells delicious tbh. I swear by the Vanilla one. It makes your hair smell like warm vanilla. Also most of the scents are perfect for summer time.
(LOL, I just saw that edit.)

Got the Coconut mi1k one, oh my God! It worked wonders! Sorry i forgot to update earlier, now i am gushing because i have sweet smelling hair! My hair feels so much better now thanks a lot:lol:

Btw did some research on Bath and body works, they brought the lotion back as Cool Coconut Surf, it's a little different than the colada, but it has the same moisturizing and cool feeling on your skin, totally recommend it:) they discontinued the soap too*sigh*

Hair question! I have black hair that I had highlighted, and it's a bit brassy for my taste. Will purple shampoo help or just fuck my shit up?

For the very brief period I was blonde (not my style really) this Clairol Professional shampoo helped with maintaining the color, it's my best suggestion for you.:) They say there it's great for highlights.

I'm glad you enjoy it. I love how soft it makes your hair after using it.

Are there any good tricks to tighten up pants? The ankle length houndstooth pants fit pretty well, but I wish they were a bit snugger on the waist area. These pants don't have belt loops so I can't work with that.
But if there are any quick tricks to tighten up pants, I'd like to know ones I can do.

What's the fabric mix?

I'm a sucker for ~ beauty influencers ~ and I'm seriously considering buying Farsali Unicorn Essence. I love the feeling of tacky, fresh skin and I want it!
Has anyone used it?

I haven't used this, but looking at the ingredients, I'd call this an oil based serum - so taking that into account- do you want an oil based serum? I find like... they're really useful types to have in your repertoire, I personally switch between this type and more acid based or whitening (often neutral) ones depending on what I've done with my skin that day. It looks good, would you layer it with any other products?

Thank you!! On the way from Amazon.

So I saw that H&M is having a sale, but I've heard mixed things on the quality of their clothes and I've never bought from them before. Does anyone here have experience with them?

@Lackadaisy Their quality varies quite a bit so it's best to shop there in person if you have a store near you. Their cheaper things are definitely disposable fast fashion that will fall apart, but they do have higher-quality garments. They can get pretty pricey fairly quickly, but I've been happy with the things I've bought from there.

My wedding dress for November. It's going to be a morning wedding hence the tea-length.
It's actually a lolita dress, so I want a Victorian hairstyle, but I'm not sure what that would entitle exactly so I need suggestions. It definitely needs to be an up-do because the dress is a bit top heavy so my neck needs to be visible.
I felt a bit guilty spending 800 bucks on a single dress, but hey some people spend thousands on a wedding dress so I guess comparatively it's not horrible. I also need to find tights, I was thinking lace(??)

For all I know, you're married by now but on the off-chance you're not, Victorian hairstyles didn't really differ that much from Regency, and you have a lot more photos to work with if you type 'Regency hairstyles' into google. Mostly they're kind of Greco-Roman inspired, lots of nice updos that are fancy without being too elaborate.

Anyway, the main reason I popped in here was to see if anyone had seen an instagram video making the rounds recently...it looks like someone giving themselves a severe chemical burn to either treat some pigmentation issue or create a permanent contour? It looks pretty horrendous either way.

If you can pull it off, you should get someone to make you a replica of the wedding dress Axls bride wore in the Guns N Roses music video November Rain, that was pure class and elegance and sexy all rolled into one dress! Best.Dress.Ever! (mic drop)

Not to be gross but I am a sweaty lady. What are your favourite anti-perspirant products? I am aware that the aluminium ingredient in it is (maybe) bad for me but my genetics fucked me over ok

I'm assuming you're in the US? I use Secret Clinical Strength which is p good, with the exception of the clear gel formulation which is some weaksauce shit.

Seconding Secret Clinical as the best over-the-counter anti-perspirant, it worked longer than a couple of prescription ones I've tried. Dry Idea is also pretty good. Hyperhydrosis is a bitch, Miradry or the surgery is pricey but worth every dime.

Lol, I remember an episode of True Life where a girl had this condition and so she dressed like a goth every day, despite being a "prep" and hanging with preppy girls, all so nobody would see her pit stains. She acted like it was this terrible life-ending affliction. Then when she "came out" to her friends about her "condition," one of them was like "uh yeah I have that too."

Oh, and side note, there's no clinical proof that the aluminum salts in antiperspirant are in any way dangerous unless you're eating the stick.
