Can anyone recommend a good nude eyeshadow palette, that's cheaper than a Naked palette? I have the L'Oreal one and it's TERRIBLE. The shimmery shades aren't too bad, but I can drag my finger across the matte shades with Kailyn-like gorilla strength and my finger looks completely clean when I look at it. The shadow just doesn't transfer onto my skin at all.
 
I don't have a suggestion for a Naked dupe, as I mostly haven't tried any of them, since I have several of the actual Naked palettes, but I'm chiming in to agree about the L'Oreal palettes being terrible. I bought them, swatched them, was incredibly underwhelmed, gave them to my sister. I don't know if she even uses them. She's where makeup I buy and don't end up liking goes to die. She has kids and I don't, so she can't afford to spend vast sums of money on makeup.
 
I have finally gone in for a haircut, after letting it get a little desperate over Christmas, which in my case pretty much just means having the no. 4 razor run over it and my fringe trimmed. I am now attempting to actually do something with it.

This probably isn't the best place to ask, but does anyone here have any experience with 'Johnny's Chop Shop' products? I've just seen them in Boots and they appear to have a pomade, which I would like to give a go - I wear the old greaser quiffs surprisingly well, but it takes a combination of mouse, wax, gel, several Bobby pins and enough hairspray to make me a fire hazard to get them to stay in place. I don't want to spend money on hair stuff that that will end up not being used, though.

Any other suggestions on hair products would also be appreciated.

Perversion is definitely a good pick. I'm also a fan of TF's Better than Sex (the original, non waterproof version). Buxom Lash is fanfuckingtastic, but I can't remember if they're cruelty free off the top of my head.

Also, my hair is naturally wavy, and I had a sidecut for a pretty long time. IMO sidecuts look better on people with wavy or curly hair anyway.

I bought Perversion at Ulta, thanks to the gift card I got for Christmas, and I love it to bits.

I am currently debating on getting the Pastel Goth palette from Kat Von D at one point.

Some of the Makeup Revolution palettes are pretty-much-kinda dupes for Naked. I know that some have had issues with pigmentation in some of them but I have had really good luck with this one. I can vouch for the mattes actually fucking transferring to a finger or a brush. They're really inexpensive so I'd say even if you didn't like them it's not a lot of money wasted. I'd at least hope there's a shade or two in there that would be awesome for you :heart-full:

Hate when the pigmentation in shadows is janky. I played with the Sweet Peach in Sephora tonight (got my makeup remover cloths YAAAY) and I was so disappointed. I wasn't planning on buying it anyway but it was so fucking inconsistent in swatching. I like the packaging (like chocolate bar) but not for shadows like that. Those Black Magic remover cloths are the real fucking deal.

Go for the Jasper Conran ones. The wedge looks off on the black faux fur ones.

You know what, I hear nothing but good things about that primer. I must actually try it.

I've gone dark brown again and now all these pots of bright dye I bought are going to go to waste lol.

This might sound like a weird question, but when I find I wear more makeup whenever my hair is darker - it's as if the darker hair contrasts with the redness on my face. (I'm naturally pale and rosy, it's a pain in the ass.) Does anyone else find that their hair colour has a say in how much makeup they wear? Am I just nuts?
 
Got the heels, hopefully you all helped me dodge a bullet with the wedge.

I have naturally dark hair but used to be blonde and definitely needed more makeup with light hair! It felt like my skin and hair blended into each other so I needed makeup to define my face a bit.

Also Sephora sells minis of that primer if you want to try it!
 
You gals have any good tricks to get rid of the dark circles under your eyes? Sometimes they get too dark and it makes me resemble a Tim Burton heroine but i can't rely on concealer all the time (sensitive skin- too much makeup- get pimples everywhere).

Otoh, I bought a little flower crown the other day. dumb as shit and won't probably use it except for chilling at home or at a special party, but i like it. it prettifies me. :heart-full:

It's stupid expensive, but I have a really bad dry scalp and psoriasis and the only things that work well for me are Aveda's invati shampoo (smells like dirt and curry though because of the tumeric) and alterna caviar scalp facial. The Aveda is about $100 for a liter of the shampoo, but I use it about twice a month and have only gone through 2/3 of the bottle in a year. (I use Everyone shampoo in between. It's like $10 a liter at the health food store)

It doesn't completely clear it up, but it's the closest I've gotten to clear in a decade of trying stuff. In a pinch soaking your hair in alchohol free witch hazel helps a bit too.



Best foundation, bb cream, etc for really pale people with dry skin? I was using the tonymoly pikachu cushion but it's too dark and too dry. I have some missha #13 on the way though.

Ooooh ty for the rec bb. I will order up some of that. I used Aveda for a few years and it worked well for me, so I'll try this one. I also like curry so the smell is acceptable.

I am also super pale. I use Nars in Siberia and it covers well. When I can't be arsed actually doing a proper base, Lush sells these wee Colour Supplement pots that are a colour you can use alone for a heavy coverage or mix a blob into a standard non-tinted moisturiser to tint it. If you react badly to some moisturisers or frankly just like the one you use and you wish it was tinted, it works really well. You can also control the level of coverage by the size of the blob you use. Anyway, they make one called Jackie Oates which is especially for ghost faces like you and I. It is TREMENDOUS. It also means I can tint up whatever moisturiser I'm needing to use at the time and it's a good proper-pale pale. I have also had success whacking it into eye cream if I don't want to bother actually concealing.

@circé if you can get the Garnier two-layer stuff for sensitive skin/eyes (there's a clear layer and a blue layer, shake to mix) it's really cheap and also DOESNT HURT and it shifts everything in a swipe or two. Everything.

Not necessarily, because my routine is more or less the same year-round, but I pay a lot of attention to what I'm wearing. I see all these girls on Instagram in particular who'll just wear any color on their face, regardless of what color their hair is, and I don't get it. Like, say I dye my hair green, I'll put away any lip or eye color that doesn't look good with that shade and only use the ones that do.

It's probably overkill and nobody else gives a shit, but I do.
 
I don't wear much other than to hide scars and dark eyesockets so the sheer amount of stuff for your face is baffling, but it also interests me. I mean, apparently, there's a setting spray for your face to keep the powder or cream-based stuff from smearing off. That's hella tight in an artsperg kind of way.

-I'm a little sad that stains haven't taken off as well as they could have, because that stuff looks better than matte liquid lipstick on just about everyone. No exfoliating your lips every night, even.
 
i use a shit ton of concealer for my under-eye too, i personally swear by benefit's bo-ing. the lightest shade matches me really well and coverage is so good i barely have to blend honestly.
 
Anyone have experience with Shape Tape? It was one of those products that r/mua was going nuts over but I don't know how many of the people reviewing it were paid shills.
