What kind did you get? I got a free Ultra Matte one and I'm impressed. The color is Saturday and it's a dark red/brown. I have some Ultra Satins but I'm making myself wait until Christmas to open up the rest of my goodies--most of the Hello Kitty collection that was left. The ultra matte was definitely long wearing for me. Drying, yes, but long-wearing as fuck. I always put balm on about 15 minutes before applying and then wipe off excess before applying color. I know that formulas are sometimes different from color to color but my first impression is definite satisfaction. Wasn't tacky like the liquid suedes and dried to a texture similar to KVD and Lime Crime.

For face masks, I occasionally use the Queen Helene mint julep mask on trouble spots since it's worked well for me there. Smells so wonderful too. My other obsession is Daiso masks. I have two sheet masks, one is coenzyme q-10 and the other is collagen, I believe. They come in a decently sized pack and I do them about once a week or so. I haven't had issues with them tearing or being hard to line up with my actual face. I believe both of them also have that snail goop. The other treat I love from Daiso is this peel off pore mask that comes in a tube. If you do your whole face you will absolutely look like old timey blackface and you really don't need to do your whole face anyway. Avoid eyebrows/any facial hair as I have seen other people's goofs with this thing ripping brows out. I treat my nose every now and then and my god peeling it off will make your eyes water but it's so fucking satisfying and pretty effective.

After my full-torso-arms-and-face hives debacle I figured out it was likely the deep cleaning I was trying to give the house before vacation. I was almost gutted because I thought it might have been the Pixi Glow Tonic since that was a new product for my skin and hardly anything ever causes issues for me. Was terrified it was my new mascara as I had fucking hives on my eyelids, but when it spread over the rest of me it was a little clearer. Fucking sucked regardless.
I got the Can You Knot bundle which is a glossy, satin, and a matte since I wanted to try out a range of them. I'm counting down the days until Christmas so I can use them.

Also got my first Ipsy box which was a total win in my book.
The Ciate London Liquid matte lipstick in pin up is kind of to die for and I'm addicted to how pretty it is especially as a color I wouldn't have typically picked.
I also received tarte maracuja oil which I feel like really makes my skin soft and moisturized and is so helpful with the dry air rn.
Also NYX prismatic eyeshadow (at least in Fireball) is pretty nice and I'm pleased with the copper shimmery color.
Also received Hikari liquid eyeliner in Iris(purple) and mark Anthony argon oil deep conditioner which I also appreciate

I had to return my Pacifica cleanser I've been using because I'm allergic to it. It makes sense, I guess; their products are sulfate-free and, like the shampoos I've used, whatever they replace the sulfates with irritates my skin. I exchanged it for the Andalou Organics Meyer Lemon milk cleanser, which didn't feel so nice when I used it a minute ago, but I'll put that down to my skin being irritated.

Also, I've been switching up my regimen lately (mostly due to me trying to figure out what's making my skin upset) and I think maybe I can go back to liquid foundation? I've tried a few different combinations of products and I used my Kat Von D Lock-It foundation today and it held up pretty well. Which would be great because I can go back to using a product that'll last several months versus something I go through like I eat it (i.e. powder foundation). I'll hit up Sephora tomorrow before work and get a sample of the KVD primer so I can try it with that, too, see how it does for me.

Update: Liquid foundation still hates my face, apparently, regardless of my primer situation. So that's a no-go.

BUT! I do have some good news! In my desperation- because my face has been an itchy, burning pile of misery for weeks now due to repeated allergic reactions- I broke down and got a sampler kit from Skyn Iceland that I've been eyeing for a while. I figured I could use it for a few days, since it's formulated for sensitive skin, and it might help.

Y'all, I've seen so much improvement already and I've only used everything once or twice. The red patches are nearly gone, and my eyelids feel normal again after weeks of feeling like sandpaper! Absolutely everything works for me and now I know what I'll be working into my regimen as things run out. Tomorrow I'm going to return something to Ulta and I'll be grabbing the ANTIDOTE cooling lotion because that's an essential. I almost cried when I put some on this morning, it was the best my face has felt in ages. I'd recommend it to anyone with sensitive, easily-inflamed skin, particularly if you're combination and need moisture that sinks right in and won't make you greasy.

La Riche Directions dyes are beautiful but they do not last, despite using SLS free shampoo. I have to touch up my hair every 10 days to 2 weeks, and my hair takes dye well. I'm disappointed. When these tubs are all used up, I'll be going back to Manic Panic and special effects. I will say that mixing an orange with Vermilion Red gives a nice warm red, it knocks out the pink tones.

Recently, I went back to using Illamasqua Skin Base in 02 because I noticed a week or so ago that my foundation never matched my neck. It applies flawlessly whenever I use a damp beauty blender. Using a brush just leaves a lot of brush marks.

Stay away from charcoal face masks, if anyone needs telling. Apparently this happens.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=NrElFQg5au0
It's worth noting that the mask she says she used - PILATEN Suction Mask - consists of polyvinyl acetate, black dye, a small amount of humectant, and preservatives. No charcoal at all.

There's no need to spend ten bucks on a dodgy product from Hong Kong - PVA emulsion is pretty much cheap as free, if one thinks it is a good idea to smear an archival sealant and fossil consolidant on one's face.

Or, one could just use a normal charcoal mask like a normal person.

Fun fact about activated charcoal: it works for black face! Sort of.
For my own activated charcoal/ clay mask I ended up with a thin layer of black on my face. It was kind of surreal. Thankfully, a good wash with cleanser or an exfoliate sponge took it right off.

I picked up that charcoal peel-off mask from Daiso and that thing is intense. So fucking smooth afterwards. Definitely some tears though! I've seen enough videos of folks applying it over their whole face and ripping off their eyebrows to know not to do that.

Last night I was killing time while the battery in my phone got replaced and ended up with the ABH Modern Renaissance palette. That's been my biggest beauty splurge in a while and after swatching it in store and playing with it today it felt very worth it. I got a couple Pacifica rollerballs at Ulta (Persian Rose and Lilac) because it seems like those scents are hard to find on their own.

My Too Faced sweet peach palette should be on its way to me soon. I am excite. (and the correcy shade of lipstick that I actually ordered -glares at Urban Decay-)

I also /finally/ got storage and displays for my Origami Owl jewelry, thank god. I was getting real sick of having to unknot like five chains at any given time.

Too Faced totally lost me with the Sweet Peach bullshit. If they have an entire collection centered around it now, then there was no way they didn't already have that in the works when the palette originally came out. So all the limited edition stuff was always a lie in order to inflate demand and increase buzz around the brand, which was probably deliberate, in order to get more money in the sale to Estée Lauder.

I like Sweet Peach. I think it's a great palette with some truly beautiful colors. However, I don't enjoy feeling like a company thinks so little of my patronage that they are willing to manipulate and frustrate me when all I want is to give them money in exchange for a product. It took me several tries at multiple websites before I lucked into one of the Sephora restocks. Had I known that the palette (and friends) was going to be back in a matter of months, I could have waited.

Now, when Too Faces releases a product, I just side-eye it and go on about my business.

Anyway, all that said, I'm sure you'll love it. All the actual peach colors in it are especially pretty.

TF is probably my favorite makeup brand (with Urban a close second), so I'm willing to put up with a lot of their bullshit. My eyelids are super oily so their primer is the only thing that helps my eyeshadow on, and they actually have a foundation that matches my weird "fair but warm" skin tone.

I really wanted the peach highlighter palette, but that went out of stock everywhere in like three seconds, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'll be satisfied with the eyeshadow palette for now. I totally get where you're coming from, though. (Also, was anybody else super taken aback when EL bought them? I didn't know they were independent.)

Personally I'm about to buy that Sugarpill Pumpkin Spice liquid lipstick because oh boy that is a pretty color and i want it on my face even if I can't pull it off.

Anyone have any input on the brand?

From what I hear sugarpill is a great brand. It used to be contrasted with Lime Crime, because they both were startup makeup companies around the same time, but lime crime is shit and run by a lolcow and sugarpill is actually good.

Sephora had a sale on urban decay smoky palettes for $27 so I bought one.
I am not an eyeshadow person at all but I really I like it.
I've always just used a few eyeshadow or generic pallids, I have a ~routine~ I don't deviate from much, but I want to use eyeshadow more

I hate eyeshadow.
My eyes are kind of deep set so there's not much lid visible. Eye shadow just doesn't really work for my eyes. I've tried to find tutorials online and YouTube which was a fruitless endeavor. I've heard some people tell me to just apply stuff higher, but that has never worked for me.

EDIT to avoid double posting:

I saw people talking about makeup subscription. I used to love these, especially since I don't wear makeup everyday so samples tend to last me a long time. I did Birchbox for about a year and a half and really liked most of it, but I kept getting goofy things like perfume samples and shampoo. I have about 12 perfume samples and since I only use the stuff once or twice a year, I'm pretty set for a long ass time. I tried ipsy but it really felt like a knock-off of birchbox. Seems like no matter what I did for my profile I would get the same black eyeliner, eye shadow (see my above comment *sigh*) and gooey lip glosses made in China. I actually have a box fill of products I'll either never use or am saving for when I move out. I also got tired of re-samples. I dunno, I want to love these types of things since getting mystery mail is awesome. And honestly, DIY-ing just makes me look at all the stuff and think to myself 'yea I can make that'.

I tried Korean ones which were a bit better, but I really don't have the money to splurge on this stuff regularly anyway.

I love sugarpill. I have their liquid lipstick in "trinket" and I fucking love it. Sugarpill is my favorite indie makeup company, hands down.

Really? I keep hearing that, but I find it doesn't hold up that well for me... Maybe it's just my body chemistry, I dunno. My go-to is usually the UD Primer Potion, although I kind of want to try the new KVD color-correcting primer stick.

I love Sugarpill. I've been using their stuff for years, the products are great, I'd wholeheartedly recommend them!

How drying is their formula? I have a hard time with matte products because my lips are naturally so dry, especially since I've been having these repeated allergic reactions this year, but I've been dying to try some of these gorgeous liquid-to-matte lipsticks I've been seeing around. Particularly "Kim Chi", MY GOD is that a pretty color! <3

I've only worn mine a handful of times, but I didn't notice any dryness beyond what's considered the norm for liquid lipsticks. But I'm also a lip scrub and balm addict, so take that with a grain of salt.

I'm never without lip balm on my person at any given time (lack of lip balm = desert mouth) and I exfoliate my lips daily because if I don't I shed like a snake. Should I just give up on it? :heart-empty:

I'm assuming you already put lipbalm on first before you apply a liquid lipstick...if not, try that--it makes all the difference in the world. If you have tried that, another idea is to use a clear pencil (the UD ozone chubby pencil is great for this) to create a barrier between your skin and the lipstick.
