My grandma brought over one of my great-grandma's Coach bags with the hopes I could sell it for a good price but fuck no I'm not doing that, because:

1. It's a good quality leather purse in great shape, and I have needed to upgrade for a while. The size and design are way better than what I have now.

2. It still smells exactly like my great grandma's perfume (:_(

I do think Grandma will agree it is better to keep than to sell it, also if I pair it with the fur coats I posted upthread I will be the baddest bitch in Trader Joe's :
Visiting my great-grandfather today and he wanted me to have great-grandma Reldnahc's fur coats, fur bag, and mink stole:feels:

My idea of fashion and grandma's idea of fashion were always very different, the larger of the two coats has some full on Cruella deVille shoulder bumps going on. But I still love them, the one in the middle I could totally wear (Though I don't want to have the crap kicked out of me by PETA!).
Grandma was built way different than me though, she was very petite and I'm taller and broad shouldered so the zipper doesn't go up all the way.

Does anyone else use a color theory chart to pick out their clothes and makeup?

https://gabriellearruda.com/seasonal-color-analysis-what-season-are-you/

In most cases, people seem to instinctively know what will look best on them.
- Unless you are one of those people who try to completely alter your coloring for whatever reason.

Wearing the wrong colors for their complexion can make a person look older and/or unwell.

Once you know your type, you can find advice on what patterns will look best on you as well as which finishes of makeup and jewellery you should be wearing.

If you are between 2 seasons where your veins look both green and blue, you can use the pattern in your iris as a guide.

Shit you not, it was Brittney-fucking-Venti who made me realize as a grown adult what my actual skin tone was. Bitchy pretty girls can be knowledable.

Color analysis sounds pseudoscientific (tbh it is) but it will save you much cash and sadness on wrong purchases.

Finally, after discovering it, I learned why nice beiges, browns and autumnal tones made me look like I was in end stage liver failure.

Not convinced by the body-shape one (Kibbe?) but mostly just because I'm not the cute dainty elfin type I would like to be.

It was reassuring to finally understand why bronzer and nude lipsticks made me look uglier.
Blue-eyed women being told to wear orange and warm brown eyeshadow colors is terrible advice.

The Kibbe system is a pretty useful tool, it removes a lot of the guesswork to what shapes will suit which I appreciate.

Learning about the weight gain patterns for each type was useful when I was trying to more deeply understand the difference between each type:

I also heard about this from Brittany Venti and was vindicated that my childhood assertion that I was an autumn was correct. I keep a color palette on my phone to consult for every clothing/accessory purchase now. It pays to know what complements you. Of course, it didn't take a innernet quiz to know neons weren't my thing, but it helps to keep in mind instead of buying simply whatever pattern or color catches your eye at a given time.

Oh lawd, this might be weeby as shit but when buying a new hairbrush on Ulta I came across a Naruto themed eyeshadow pallate. The reviews were kind of mid-range saying that the pigments don't go on very bold, but I don't want them to look that over the top anyway.

i got some cuteass press-on nails. the actual adhesive sucks ass so i got nail glue for it the next day, and after filing them down to a non-handicapping length i've grown super fond of them. i've always kept my nails super short and cut them as soon as the white grows in but these are so cute and aren't a pain in the ass like polish. i've never gotten acrylic or gel nails done but now i want to check out a (gossiping chink free) salon.

Re: the color typing convo itt: Maybe it's because I'm an autist (I'm not) but my whole wardrobe is made up of the colors black white and grey which I've found makes it possible to roll out of bed and throw on something random and have it look put together and purposeful. That being said, I am attempting to branch out and bring in a little color - so far the most adventurous I've gotten is a beige trench coat (so avant garde, I know).

I know I'm a bright winter which are supposed to wear jewel tones and highly saturated colors but those are so far outside my comfort zone at this point that the thought of an emerald green or something gives me heart palpitations. Idk how you gorls with colorful wardrobes manage it. I worry I'd just look a mess all the dang time.

I'm bright winter too and I have the same problem which is how I got into color theory in the first place. I like to color-block so I wear almost entirely black and darker shades or prints that have black in them. I introduce color into my wardrobe by wearing colorful lingerie and with my nail polish and lipstick.

AAAAGGH I LOVE SHAVING I LOVE BEING SMOOTH :schizo:
anyway, i actually did all my skincare and shit for once :) i got olaplex and i swear to god you don't even need the conditioner except for the very tippy ends if you have super long hair like me. the shampoo itself makes your hair feel washed and conditioned. it's like if those 2-in-1 washes were actually real

Ooh I need to get some Olaplex! Someone was telling me the other day that Aldi has started doing a really good dupe (in the UK anyway, not sure about elsewhere?) so I might just jump straight to the cheap shit lol.

What are some good product recs for someone who is semi-regularly in chlorine? (2-3 times a week)

I bought a leave-in conditioner from Sally which is supposed to be used before and after swimming, but my ends are still a bit icky, and I'm trying to grow out my hair so I can't go to the salon and get them cut that much.

Products can't contain be coconut oil based since coconut oil fades my color.

A swim cap? Sure it's not as pretty, but the simplest option is often the best and making already dead material (hair) nice when it is destroyed is essentially impossible and you're just masking up the damage.

One thing you could try is wetting your hair with fresh water before you enter the pool so your hair cuticles can't absorb as much chlorine.

Also apparently when your hair is damaged by chlorine, it is then more susceptible to copper deposits in shower water so it might be an idea to invest in a filtered shower head. I've heard good things about the ionic stone ones which contain stones whose minerals also soften the water and increase shower pressure which helps to save water.

Not really an option for a couple of reasons, but thank you!

Doyyy. I really should get in this habit. Thank you!

I haven't heard about the copper deposit thing, I'll look into that too! Good excuse to replace my existing "Walmart special" showerhead.

Is my bra system autistic?

When I open a new bra, I write it on a list (in the laundry room) with its incept date.

Then when I cycle through bras, I go in order so I'm not always wearing the same two as they come out of the laundry. (When I have two of the same color, I embroider a little letter or number on one of the straps.)

I don't have a set length of time a bra must serve, or a length of time that a bra has to be discarded by. Mostly the list is so I spread wear out evenly, and so as I start to suspect a bra has become Too Old, I can look at my list and say "oh, OK, that's reasonable" and switch it out for a new one.

That is extremely autistic, Carol, but I can't fault you for it. It's genius.
That system is a feat of home economics.

Thank you; I did kind of suspect, but who knows what other people are doing with their clothing management behind closed doors?

I always second-guess myself on throwing bras out; I'll mend a tear, but when the elastic dies, better to give up. For a similar reason, I write the opened dates on cosmetics. Not for safety (other than eye makeup), but so I can reassure myself that something was expensive but it did last X months, so it's probably not a terrible indulgence.

(I don't mean shampoo or deodorant, more like anything that has "serum" in the description or comes in a glass bottle.)
