So three nights ago, I started applying antibiotic ointment and bandages over these breakouts before I slept to keep them from touching the pillow. And it's clearing up already. I'm so incredibly happy that I finally found a solution to this, and it's way simpler than I thought it would be.

Oh, yeah, I've been doing that for years! I don't get zits as much anymore (thanks, birth control!) but my face used to be really gross and this does help. It doesn't work so well for cystic acne, unfortunately, which is the only kind I ever really get nowadays...

And I LOVE Sugarpill Cosmetics! I can't wear the shadows on my eyes anymore, since my eyes suddenly started freaking out at the intense shadows I used to wear, but I do use them for my eyebrows. I press them on top of whatever pencil I used to draw the brows on and then set them.

I got a new primer today, the Nip+Fab viper venom mattifying primer. I'll let you guys know how it works out, I've been eyeing it for a while and I needed something new, since I've been using the NYX tea tree balancing primer for like a year and a half.

OK so me and my big sis have really been into make up and the other day my big sis order some lipstick online and it's so good.
It's called unicorn blood and it's a limited addition color from the jeffree star makeup collection.

and masochist
problem is things sell out so quick.*sigh*

My big sis order some lose eyeshadow from them and it's so pretty I'm planning on ordering from them.

Oh man, I have both Androgyny and Gemini (which came in on Monday) and they're pretty great! I'm looking into getting Doll Parts, Prom Night, and Unicorn Blood in the furure.

Has anyone ever gotten nailbox before? It has good reviews but I'm curious if any UK kiwis have gotten it. My sister is a nail polish and nail art freak (she got me into nail stamping) and a short gift subscription of nailbox seems like the perfect birthday gift for her.

Alright, kiwis, I need some opinions.

I've been trying to grow my hair out for years and I've decided that I'm going to dye at least half my hair black so I'll have to sit on my hands and actually let it grow. Problem is, black hair dye is a commitment and I have to be sure about the placement. It has to be relatively simple, also, since I do it myself. I've narrowed it down to two that will be easy enough to maintain.

Things to consider: I have very thick hair and I prefer to wear it textured, rather than straight, and I part down the middle to hide some thin spots on the left side of my head.

Pictures under a spoiler:

The Half-and-Half

Pros: more blonde, simple but fun
Cons: you literally cannot part your hair any other way or it messes up the overall look

HyKrUtX.jpg

The Rogue from X-Men

Pros: easy as fuck to maintain, can be parted anywhere
Cons: a little blah

What do you guys think? I figured I would just ask instead of drawing diagrams and writing notes to myself like a crazy person, lol.

I have otherwise good hair (fast growing, blond and I like the colour, thick, wavy) but I have a little bit of frizziness. How do I fix the small amount of frizziness

A leave-in conditioner would help with that, most have some level of frizz protection. Personally I don't like anti-frizz-targeted products because most of them are heavy and easy to use too much of, even on my own thick, coarse hair.

This might seem like a dumb question, but do you have any friends/family you can recruit to help you dye it? When my hair was two toned (horizontal rather than vertical) I got my best mate to do the back. I just parted it and told her what to do and it came out fine.

PS I love white skunk streaks so I vote Rogue. :D

No. All of my friends are either in other states or they're just too busy for me these days. I don't have a lot of family, or at least none that are willing and/or able, and I can't afford to pay someone else, so it's just me. It's a pain in the ass, but I can do it. I've done it for years now, it just takes an entire day because I have to do it all in stages. No problem, I just make sure I have no errands to run, fire up my GameCube, and hang out while each section processes.

You're right, though, I am leaning towards that one. If I went with the half-and-half look again, I'd just have the blonde side be a triangular piece so I can see the lines and I don't have to, like, set up a complicated system of mirrors to try and see the back of my head.

I'm also dealing with growing my undercut out, since I'm tired of having to touch it up every other week, so that's gonna be fun. I'll probably have awkward hair for at least another year. I got this really cool thing called the De-Bulker:

And I'm so excited because my God does my hair get heavy and awful to deal with when it's long. Not to mention the extreme texture, seeing this thing in action is really awesome.

Oh that looks like such a neat product. My undercut started growing out a little much for me (got it done at the end of March) and I ordered some $20 Wahl clippers from Target. I'm really proud that I didn't shave a stripe across the back of my head while I was trimming the short part. I'll probably keep it up through the summer and then try to grow it out again and keep up with my ends this time.

As for dyeing your hair I like the Storm idea. I also like the half and half look but that does really limit your parting options. I've done some selective color on myself before without assistance with a lot of use of hair ties and some clips that you could find at any beauty store. I'm good enough that I can pat my head and visualize it accurately but you could easily take some pics with a webcam/phone cam to be on the safe side.

Those big mirrors with handles on them (the kind that hairdressers buy from Sally's to show you the back of your haircut) are invaluable for awkward dye jobs (assuming you don't already have one, @fire_fly.) They're the only reason I could dye my old mohawk without having to paint my sides as well. (I liked having them my natural colour while the rest of my mohawk was dyed black.)

What's the texture like on them? I've been looking for a good, lasting, black lipstick (don't judge) and I know Lime Crime is shit (and full of lies/drama) despite their pretty packaging

We need to set up some kind of Kiwi hair circlejerk because I need someone to help me tone my roots so my hair isn't a patchwork of yellow and purple (my hair is supposed to be white but upkeep is such a pain *sigh* )

I have to do mine every other week, since my hair grows so fast. That's part of the reason I'm giving it up, I just can't deal with it anymore.

I do! I've got quite the setup for myself, honestly, loads of equipment and products. I just tossed out a bunch of stuff, you wouldn't even believe how much free shit I get (on top of the things I buy because my favorite brands never send us anything, of course) and it just accumulates. Most of it is stuff that I can't even use; everyone sends us volumizing stuff and volume is the exact opposite of what I need, so it ends up being passed off to someone else or in the trash.

Also, I used to do that, but my mohawk was platinum blonde! I never spiked it or anything, I just pinned it up like an updo.

Lime Crime is garbage. I bought one of their loose "eyeshadows" a few years ago, I was so excited, and it turned out to be a jar of fucking TKB Trading glitter and nothing else to actually make it an eyeshadow. And then the owner turned out to be such a horrible person, I can't believe they're still in business.

If you're looking for a good black lipstick, not sure if you want matte or glossy, but I like House of Beauty a lot. It's a liquid lipstick that you have to apply with a brush, but it's one of the very few things that don't give me desert lips (WHY MUST EVERYTHING BE MATTE) and I recommend them to everyone. Lots of great colors and I've never had an issue with their products or customer service. If you follow them on Instagram they post about sales all the time, too.

Also, if you're toning your hair yourself, put it on your roots first, let it process 5-10 minutes (depending on the color's processing time), and then pull through to your ends.

This thread makes me want to buy so many things...

Which makeup and skincare youtube tutorials/channels do you guys like? I'm pretty basic with my make up and want to learn all the secrets.

It's matte, but it feels very comfortable on my lips. Personally, I have some difficulty with applying it (because my lips are small), but it stays on like a motherfucker so there is that.

Speaking of JSC, I am curious on how Prom Night would look on me, but the thought of bright colors on my pasty skin makes me cringe.

Been pondering whether I should get my hair dyed like this if I get the chance:

latest

I intend to leave my own brown-black hair on top, and my hair is at chest level. I've always liked the idea of having a Zorro-esque cape of hair.
What are the practical considerations of this kind of dye pattern? I'm warm-toned, pale olive.

What color were you thinking of doing on the underside? That's the only thing that really needs to be considered. You want something that will look good with your skin tone and not clash with the natural tone of your hair (if you have reddish undertones in your hair, for example, blue-based colors aren't going to look as good).

The placement would more or less be the same whether you had a fringe or not. Your hair texture, density, and layers in your cut will have an effect on how much of the color you see, but no matter what, it'll still be a diffused effect.

I got these earrings at a discount from my work and they're so adorable I love them

Cute! I don't really wear studs anymore cos my ears are gauged but sometimes I'll run across a fun pair of dangly earrings and I always have such fun looking for them. I love earrings.

Recently I ordered a custom-made set of titanium bead capture rings from Le Roi, with oil slick anodization, and I can't wait to get them! If they're as nice as they look in pictures, I want to preemptively order jewelry for my septum to match, since I want to get that redone someday.
