Has any girl here been cursed with hooded eyes? I have it and anyone who has it knows how annoying it is to do makeup on them, I currently do my eyes with a soft doll/aegyosal style to make them bigger, does anyone have any more tips?
The type of makeup look that would be the most flattering will depend on your color season. It sounds like you like to wear quite a light makeup?

This website offers good detailed recommendations for the types of makeup will be the most complimentary. My sister and I have different coloring and when I try her makeup style I end up looking jaundiced and ill and when she tries mine she looks like a drag queen.

Tips I have heard for hooded eyes is keep liquid eyeliner thin and defined. You could also try tightlining with either a pencil or transferring it onto a brush (which is softer) if you want your lashes to have a fuller look, using a waterproof formulation will prevent transfer. Curling your eyelashes will help in opening the eye.

Some women also use a white or nude eyeliner to waterline to make their eyes appear wider.

I've never researched this color season thing much, I generally only wear brown or black tones and when I feel adventurous I use pastel tones, but I think I'll try

The tip about doing thin eyeliner and white eyeliner in waterline is great, the more space on the eye the better, I also always do a smoky puppy eyeliner, it's much easier for hooded eyes

I have never even heard of tightlining and can’t wait to try it! Not sure how it could have passed me by, what kind of shitty female am I.

Has anyone had microblading or the like? I would love to not have to tint or even fill my eyebrows in at all but now that I’ve spent time browsing the microblading sub I’m thinking something more permanent is a really bad idea lol. The thought of just always having on point brows is so, so tempting.

I do love this stuff for my eyebrows but it doesn’t last as long as I’d like it to

My kid gets freaked out at me walking around at bedtime with crazy dark eyebrows when I use that stuff lol. Also the gel dries through the night and peels off in one go and there’s been a couple of times where I’ve woken up thinking there’s a spider on my face cos the little dried up black bit is hanging down and tickling me a bit.

I've not tried microblading but I have considered brow lamination. It is essentially a perm for the eyebrows which reshapes them and locks them into place and lasts around 4-6 weeks. You can buy at home kits that you can do yourself which makes it less expensive and some ladies also tint their brows as well.

I know a lot of Japanese brands carry styles like this, since I like the style too, from the top of my head the best brands for this style is:
Ank Rouge, Axes Femme, Liz Lisa, Tralala, Angelic Pretty, L'est Rose, Swankiss, Lizmelo

They generally go for cheap on Japanese Mercari too. I use Buyee as a proxy and they often have coupons that save you a certain % on listings or international shipping fees. Avoid sites like Depop for the Japanese brands as resellers tend to charge unhinged prices

thank you so much! axes femme, l'est rose and swankiss have such beautiful clothes!
also, you're 100% right with depop (i avoid it at all costs), in general clothes on there are way too fucking pricey (cough cough abercrombie and fitch and those emo studded belts)

My thighs touch, they've touched my whole life and even at the lowest I've ever weighed they still touch. Now they're muscular so the problem is even worse in certain ways.
Can anyone suggest some shorts that won't make me look like Anna O'Brian that I can use for things like hiking and exercise that won't ride up? I have one pair that go to the knees but they're stiff.

I am literally useless at bring a woman.

Barely wear make up, only really just starting wearing dresses I make myself, hair is just.. there. But I am trying! I own make up now, and a decent mirror. I think I just need to sit down and play beauty salon on myself

If you are unsure what to do with your hair, a good starting point is to identify your face shape.

From there, you can find guides on the rules for each face shape. Oval is the only one who can pull off any hairstyle.

With accessories like eyewear and jewelry you want to wear styles that oppose your face shape in order to bring balance. Long/short, angular/rounded.

OMG you're an utter lifesaver! That helps so much! I know I have a round/square face, so hair up with a longer fringe/bangs swept to one side is pretty much a go!

I'm also kinda pale, but I best suit teal'y greens and blues, darker blues, purples and the odd bit of pink! Also, greys and deep reds.

From the colors you like it sounds like you could be a winter or possibly spring depending on whether you are warm or cool toned. Each season has 3 subcategories where it blends into the next and you can also 'borrow' colors from the group directly either side if needed.

Definitely more winter and cool toned. Some of the lighter stuff washes me out

I only learned this year that a good test for if you're actually olive-skinned is if you have an easier time matching colors when you have a tan. The reason being that the redness of the tan (not the darkness of the tan itself) is affecting the natural green undertone that is most obvious on light-skinned olive-skin people.
If your skin is mostly red-blue, that's "cool"
If it's red-yellow, that becomes "warm"
If your skin is mostly blue-yellow, that's "olive", so if you get a tan it adds more red.

It's an undertone, not a skin color.

Any reco's for a proper gold eyeshadow?
Not strictly gold but if you're going to make a purchase at Colourpop, I like I heart this which is a taupe with champagne glitter and sailor which a warm beige with iridescent green micro shimmer. If you like iridescent eyeshadow their jelly much eye shadows look interesting but I haven't tried those. They usually have decent sales around this time of year.

Soft pink can also help to make the eyes look bluer as does using mascara.

I guess Tor ate the post I was trying to make so I'll rehash it

I have greasy/oily eyelids and Colourpop is the only eyeshadow I can get to stick. I use it with Ulta store brand primer but other kinds have worked too. It stays all day on my eyes and even holds up to water if I use a setting/fixing spray that I recently purchased (which smells like the same kind my high school theatre department used)

However, the jelly eyeshadow does not stay remotely as long and goes on really weird if I try using primer. Doesn't hold up to water at all and fades/creases, even on very calm low-activity days where I just sit around. It's a pretty shimmer and the one I have has a nice colorshift effect without being too overpowering, but the longevity is just not there for me at all.

That's good to know, do you remember which colors you had? If you still have them this lady shows 2 ways to use them.
