How many? All of them. It’s interesting how many of these pop acts require a tard wrangler or how vital their producers are like Patrick Leonard in her case.
It’s a shame, because there are many female artists who can write and make amazing music on their own, but they’re never anywhere near the ‘biggest’.
Behind every single Madonna, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé there are various - invariably male - writers and producers making it all happen. There’ll always be ‘well ackshuallyy…’ types that try to say that because the artists are also named as writers they probably provide most of the input, but when you see people like Max Martin, Jack Antonoff and The-Dream with their fingerprints all over so many different artists shit, it’s clear that they’re the common denominator making the songs and albums what they are.
I saw some short comic strip once that was titled: “The Story of The Spice Girls: The Making of ‘Girl Power!’” And it was two besuited, bald male music execs saying: ‘let’s get some singers together and make a girl group’, then toasting each other with cigars and champagne at the success. That sums most of this shit up, all the comic was missing was the panel where they link them up with the producers and the execs were missing their yarmulkes.
Dead-eyed mannequins like Sabrina Carpenter are just next off the factory production line. Gives me a bit of an uneasy feeling seeing Madge basically ‘anointing’ her, wonder what else she’s been ‘putting her on’?
