The TL;DR is that even though China ended the one-child policy, it's going to continue to have knock-on effects for decades leading into a cascading death spiral. China got spooked by its own baby boom and enacted that policy just as they were starting to become a wealthy country, which always drives down birth rates anyway, so the effects end up being multiplied. Eventually there will be less than one able-bodied worker per child/elderly they are expected to support.
Retirees will need health care, which has to be paid for by working adults, which means working adults have less money to even think about starting a family, making the problem even worse.
Even though the whole world is declining this way, the rest of the world has a healthier population outlook...due to immigration. China has basically no immigration. They have to breed their way out of this problem, but it's much harder to convince people to have children than it is to force them to stop.
They're fucked by 2100 unless the government can find a way to force families to have 2.1 children.
100% agree with the Battle Hymn of the Republic being superior. "As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free" is the most hardcore slogan in American tradition.
What really pisses me off is later versions of the Hymn try to avoid that line. After the war, it was frequently changed to "let us live to make men free", which makes no sense combined with the reference to Christ dying. Many performances leave the entire verse out. The Armed Forces frequently perform the Hymn, but it's a crapshot whether they include it; sometimes they drop the whole verse, sometimes they sing the changed line. Then sometimes they'll sing the original and it hits fucking hard and you wonder why they'd ever drop it.
I suspect the reason modern performances drop it is to avoid giving certain people ideas about fighting back. You don't sing about dying to make men free when you're the side trying to oppress them. Same reason they try to avoid public readings of the actual text of the Declaration of Independence.

Everything I can find says that the desk that that is/being reproduces is a partners desk, so it has drawers on both sides. Look at how deep the top is, it's designed so your secretary or someone like that can sit across from you and you can both work together.

If whites were the first to enter population decline then it stands to reason that they will be the first to stabilize. I think, particularly in America, the white population declines quicker than normal due to boomers being in advanced elderly age. Once they pass the demographic may quickly enter slow growth without any other changes.
Let this be a lesson that tons of children per family is not the answer, or we will repeat this cycle. You must have sufficient children, but not too many, 2-4 specifically. Too many, such as the 8-12 observed in the baby boom results in a large portion being neglected by traditional family upbringing and instead being raised by the state.
What results is a generation largely comprised of self-centered people that hold little value in lineage. They simply never experienced it.
