on the subject of deepseek, my one experience with it was hooking it up to Skyrim and a guard threatened to rape my (male Argonian) character and I opened the console to see the thought process to see if it was in the prompt and it was all in Chinese.
No other LLM EVER did this or indicated this was in the prompt.
I spoke to the Skyrim AI community about it and one guy said the Chinese thinking ones do that sometimes and I think that’s probably the best review of deepseek I can imagine

Deepseek v4 is notorious for thinking in Chinese. No other Chinese thinking model I've used have ever had that issue as long as you prompted in English. The skeptical part of me thinks that they're trying to inflate token count to make API calls cost more since Chinese characters are more token dense vs English even with their more optimized tokenizer. v4 flash is garbage and v4 Pro is markedly more expensive than their previous iterations. I wouldn't put it past the chinks.

My experience with deepseek v4 minus the rape bit was quite good once I culled garbage providers. I think the issue it is having is more of a spoofing issue. My own local AIs were able to handshake with Skyrims but it would freeze up pretty quick when it came to anything more than small talk. A huge chunk of deepseek providers failed to do even that.
There are so many ways to scam tokens at the moment with how mercenary everything is that manderinmaxxing seems like a petty offense all things considered

I disagree. Older Internet people were just outcasts in real life did silly things online since it was a place where they felt comfortable being a spectacle around strangers. Kids these days spend so much time online that they end up tying their IRL social lives with their online ones thus they are moderated online by their own real-life peers. The retards like Brian Dung were escaping their real life with the Internet. This is why the lolcow generation is starting to die off.

I think the outcast bit is just arguing the chicken or the egg problem. To say someone was pushed into the Internet or that someone was overly drawn to it is irrelevant, either way they became lolcow.
And I should clarify that the new generation isn't itself shying away from the internet. They are more tactically, when not technically, savvy. The use of aliases, account deletions, and the per capita decline of public posts are hallmarks of that.
I can agree though that the peer monitoring, when IRL peers overlap with online personae, has probably had a chilling effect on what we saw out of the 00's. I also think though that children's social lives are probably more private than ever, not to mention more pointedly sexualized. The explosion of ICAC action as well as focuses on groups like 764 are endemic to this behavior increasing.
