I've seen a shit ton of fireflies at night this year, they're always lighting up the road (...and my car) at night. Definitely haven't heard any cicadas though. One thing I noticed is that SLF were problematic in my area the past few years- I have not seen a single one this year: no eggs, nymphs, or adults.

Aren't cicadas on like 17-19 year cycles where they're dormant then go back into hibernation or whatever?
