The comics from the Bronze, Silver, and Golden Era were a great time. Mostly goofy stories about a guy dressed as a a bat, and occasionally they would have some really really well made plots that were essentially a modern mythology. Captain America had stories about the true spirit of patriotism, Superman had stories about why a strong man should be moral and upright, the Hulk had stories about a man’s quest for inner peace, and we also had fucking aliens and robots and werewolves and dinosaurs.
