For replacing youtube music - definitely try soulseek, specifically the Nicotine+ front. I use Lastfm for tracking listening stats and all that - that's definitely something spotify does well despite me hating that company more than Google. Slsk is awesome and I don't even use bittorrent for most music collecting now. I bought many CDs in my life and love to share my spoils in exchange for most of the music ever created. Tagging standards have definitely improved on their min my lifetime, i also like how over time shittier sources get replaced with better ones organically.

@Null Spotify is fine, but it's got issues.

• Their AI DJ is programmed to force feed you whatever shit the staff thinks is good
• The "Enhanced" shuffle is fucking irritating, as if you don't realize you turned it on, it'll just randomly slap you with random garbage
• It's very pushy when it comes to upselling you on the bigger packages

I've been with them for about 8 years now, so maybe I've just gotten used to ignoring everything that isn't just my eleventy trillion liked songs running on shuffle.

I also obsessively hate ads.
I use Firefox exclusively with NoScript, AdBlock and Ghostery add-ons installed, I fucking hate Chrome.
I use SmartTube on firestick to block all ads even the in stream promotions (ex. “this video is sponsored by” bullshit).
