Haven't seen a thread on this specific anime, so let's discuss it!

Here goes my (slightly curmudgeonly) review:
  • The concept is pretty derivative (just mix up the Victory Gin of 1984 with the chocolate latte of LycoReco and you get a... rather bland and toned down but cute and sweet cocktail)
  • Chisato is essentially the manic pixie dream girl Mary Sue. Strong but bubbly and sweet, imperturbable against pretty much any threat, both mentally and physically.
  • Shinji Yoshimatsu is really just Adolf Hitler from Temu. Lawful Evil archetype. Outwardly polite and cordial (especially to Chisato) but deep down calculating and hides a more sinister facade.
  • Majima is just Joker from Temu.
  • The symbolism (the Alan pendant, spider lilies, Biblical references) is puddle thin.
  • The ending is basically a Deus ex machina because Chisato has to survive in order for a second season to exist right? Like where tf did that second heart even come from? How did the Alan Institute just happen to have a second heart in their making? Seriously, the anime would've been better as just a single season. That would also make Chisato's character slightly more compelling - i.e. it at least wouldn't make her a Mary Sue who doesn't ever see any lasting consequences for her blind sunshine rainbow idealism.
Me 3 years ago was addicted to this anime (muh waifus with da guns!) but now I've moved on to meatier media. I wish Chisato was more well-written in particular, she seems like a caricature ATP. Takina obviously goes through a clearer character arc and has more internal contradictions within her that make her marginally more interesting (e.g. a rule follower her whole life but has to also save Chisato, cynical demeanor but also gullible, the cynicism itself being ingrained in her from a young age)That said, the visuals and production value is obviously the anime's strength. The designs of the characters are overall sleek and polished (although Takina's design could've used more thought). The music is upbeat and the voice actors all did an amazing job.

Verdict: 3/10 on plot. 1/10 on depth. 3/10 on consistency (sooooo many plotholes). 9.99999999/10 on cute anime girls doing cute things (and sometimes killing terrorists with the power of friendship too).

Didn't like the gay aspect with the cafe shop guy or the yuri tards when it came to those two, but the antics were fun and I hated the whole "don't kill because you're no better than them" aspect. It’s been four years since the show premiered, so will the sequel still capture the same level of attention in today’s era of incredibly short attention spans?

It's kinda meh anime to talk about. The synopsis made it sound like it will have some moral ambiguity like Psycho Pass, but it's quickly clear that it's too scared to tackle that subject head on and just saves it for potential later season/film, and in the meantime just has cute girls doing cute things.

Think I got around halfway through until the revelation the blonde one has an artificial heart.

Gunslinger Girls did it better.

Gay black cripple*. You'd expect those type of characters from western media and not in anime, but here we are.
Having seen Japanese Anime movies from the 80's to early 90's years ago, I can say I'm surprised a gay crippled black man only showed up in one now considering even the older movies had a character or two who was meterosexual or a transexual.

I too have seen my fair share of weird japanese takes on sexuality and gender, it's just that the nigger faggot was out of place in this one.

I only know of this anime because they had a collab with Nikke
What's even funnier is that nobody had ever heard of them either until the collab

As you'd expect, they got the big bump when they first premiered back in 2022 of August, but from October on it's been a nosedive.

No idea why they didn't go for additional seasons to keep the hype. It was popular enough to at least bring back the investment and sell merchandise.
