While digging through the internet archive previously, I had come across a folder in the TeamLoosh archives called "Digerati-Exposed.zip" that wasn't downloadable, but I had seen in a few places that it was created by Luan to expose this guy Digerati as a pedophile. Tonight I was bored and doing some more searching, and came across this page (Archive) which mentioned the .zip I saw amongst other things. Looks like Digerati was a member of TeamLoosh and got on Luan's bad side, so Luan put together this .zip containing photographs and emails that exposed Digerati as a pedo himself. I also recall reading in the court documentation that Luan actually tried to put the blame for what was found on his PCs on Digerati. Claiming it was an act of revenge in response to this specific exposure. The courts rightfully called bullshit, but it's interesting to find more information on this Digerati guy. That page confirms his name as Ryan Goldstein. Googling that name I found some more information on him as well.
This article (Archive) from 2009 goes into greater detail about Digerati's crimes and how the feds used Ryan to help take down a bigger scheme involving botnets in exchange for a lighter sentence. According to the article he was caught with over 1,000 CSAM images and was known to groom children online. Page 2 (Archive), Page 3 (Archive), and Page 4 (Archive) all contain details on Ryan. Page 5 (Archive) covers reactions to him not being sentenced for his CSAM related crimes.
I found a few more pages covering this as well. This one from the New York Times (Archive), This one from CBS (Archive), And here is the court document from Justice.gov (Archive). There are plenty more, but all the info across differing sources is similar.
Knowing Luan and Digerati were in the same circles and that Luan would attempt to expose him for the same type of shit he was doing has interested me since I first saw that .zip in the internet archive links I shared previously. Seems like interest in this whole thing has mostly died out by now, but I still think it's interesting to find out more about the shit Luan was up to before he became BWE. The shit he got prosecuted for clearly wasn't the only dirt he was into.
