My current headset is getting old, and I need to get a new one. Looking for suggestions.

I'm basically looking for the best headset I can get with the following conditions:
  1. Wireless, ideally with a hearty battery life.
  2. Comfortable, able to wear for a long time without getting sweaty. I've typically found cloth earpieces work best, but I assume anything that's breathable will work.
  3. Able to hear other people in other parts of the house with them on (so either a function that only filters out true background noise, or flat out not noise-cancelling).
Also, I live in the land down under, and I'm hoping I'll be able to get my hands on this headset this weekend at the latest, so no "I know a guy in Azerbaijan who can custom-build the best auditory experience". My typical headset solution has been to get RIG pros, and transplant cloth cups from previous models if necessary, but now both headset and padding are both giving out, so it's a good time to survey the field.

Budget's pretty broad, because I do use them heavily. probably up to 500 AUD, and I can go a bit past that if it's absolutely perfect for the job.

I recently bought some Sony ULT wears on sale for $200 USD (or about $300 AUD) and they're not bad. They are noise cancelling but there's a button to turn it off so you can hear your surroundings.
Battery life is 30 hours with ANC on and 50 hours with it off..

Only thing is I don't know how sweaty they get since I haven't worn them for a super extensive period of time yet.

Wireless headphones make you look like a rollerblader blasting techno music

I like earbuds. I don’t think there is a difference in audio quality between the $5 ones and the brand name ones, other than durability

Última edición:
The wireless is probably the killer, since most good open back headphones such as the DT 990 or Sennheiser HD 600 will be wired, and most good wireless headphones like Sony XM, Bose QC, etc will be closed and fairly noise isolating, at least some will let you replace the earpads easily and have ambient noise ANC settings.

i have a Sony WH-CH510 and some chinesium ear buds called "A60 Pro" for 20-25 bucks seperately.

My HyperX Clouds have served me well at a reasonable price, and they block out noise well enough to easily ignore it, but still leave feint voices or recognizable noises through doors and such recognizable. Not to mention they are very comfortable. But I can't vouch for the wireless ones because I don't use wireless (lmao what loser would?). Samson has many excellent well priced offerings as well. That being said your requirement of wireless is definitely limiting your share of good choices. Most of the very high price 'gamer' offerings (Razor, SteelSeries, etc) are not worth it at all.

Just peruse the current catalog on Drop and look for something that meets the requirements of what you're looking for, that's what I tell literally anyone I know trying to get decent consumer audio gear.

Wireless headphones are generally closed, making it much more difficult to meet your other criteria - Sony's WH1000xm Series allows for audio passthrough so you can hear other people around you when you don't want them to be noise cancelling

Jabra Evolve2 75. Used to use them at a job, and the noise cancelling is incredible, there's also a hear through mode, and the mic has the best external noise cancellation I've ever seen. You can literally have someone right next to you speaking at full volume and the mic will only pick up your voice...

Necroing this thread because I'm trying to find a new headset/headphones for my gaming pc. My budget is is around $200 and I'm trying to find something with a 2.4G connection. Bluetooth has latency so trying to find something that either doesn't use it or has a 2.4G option too.

The headphones I used to have, a pair of Sennheiser HD200, is now $90 instead of $50 when I purchased them in 2019, and even then the price had gone up. I don't think prices have increased that much to make that reasonable, is there a good alternative that's closer to $50 now?
