In the article they said Goblin Slayer would be banned. But in the law in the definition of Obscenity which itself cites, under Section 43.21 (a) (1) (b), Obscenity only applies if the work lacks serious literary, artistic, political, and scientific value. In other words PORN.

On point, and the most important thing is that that isn't even a very high bar to clear. Back in the day when restrictions on pornography were much more strict than now what the directors of porn films did was that they added some semblance of a plot to the film to claim that said scene was necessary for the work, and most of the time that was more than enough. This law will only affect things that should have been banned long ago

I like Goblin Slayer but even I think GS in schools is fucking crazy.

Precisely Toji. Basically anything without a plot, or some form of artistic merit, disgusting for disgusting's sake, is getting flushed with this bill. It is NOT attacking things like manga you can buy at Barnes and Noble, which have a plot, characters, worlds, etc.
 
Dear oh Dear. There seems to be some confusion! Those cartoons weren't of human children, no no, they are a human like species like in Star Trek where they live for 600 years old, so you see, when they "look 5" they are actually about 80 years old.

This is a common misconception.

I ain't judging over here, that series is a pretty fun ride once you get past the first first couple of chapters. If only because its fun watching GS himself come up with increasingly more intricate ways to kill goblins.

But, that series can be traumatizing as hell for a young kid to read. You'd think school boards would have read the first two chapters to see that it isn't suitable for kids to read.

Goblin Slayer is immensely entertaining once it gets going. It's not for kids. Every volume of the manga has a parental advarisory label on it. How they didn't look at the cover and see that is beyond me. It shouldn't be in schools period. Kids aren't ready for that and the state shouldn't be providing it. Once they're adults, that's different, but they aren't, so keep it away from kids

Especially since you can tell almost all the type of disregard the OP to this thread or any of the points and rebuttals brought up in this thread throughout the highlights.

Although I feel you all should have brought up some of the more hard-hitting examples of what these Pedos are getting off/up to when left alone.

The language of the law explicitly states the offending content has to be "virtually indistinguishable" from an actual child. In other words, it has to look realistic. IE, AI generated CP, traced photos and possibly photorealistic illustrations. The kind of thing the US supreme court already carved out an exception for in obscenity law cases.

It's actually incredibly reasonable and should probably be the standard everywhere.

It can still be a cartoon. They would not write cartoon into the law if not. They write it that way due to the nature of obscenity laws in the US.
