With the recent spergout over the Cyrax thread I have been doing some thinking, and have some observations I hope are worth sharing. Currently there exists a cottage industry around lolcows and retards of desperately unfunny faggots attempting to achieve fame, money, or sick satisfaction from mainstreaming individuals who have abnormal behavior. I believe that a portion of this comes from a result of the success of the Geno Chris Chan documentary, where "regular" people got exposed to lolcow culture and (more importantly for this thread) the success covering said content brought Geno. The problem is of course, that Geno spends a month(s) on each episode and actual work goes into the creation of the content, whereas the people trying to cash in on lolcows have zero interest in doing any actual work.
This lack of effort has led to swarms of channels covering lolcows like some desperate 24 new cycle, where each channel regurgitates the same thing as the next one, albeit with slight differences. To use Cyrax as an example, Marty will spend 6 hours streaming to cause a new freakout and collect money from his paypigs who want to see him verbally humiliate a retard for 20 minutes of that 6 hour time period. Then Smokey (another channel) will take that 20 minutes and make a half an hour video with some editorial telling the audience that it is okay to laugh at Cyrax because of BAD THINGS. Then Kiwitapes will make a video about the incident with some other points all while reinforcing the video that Cyrax is bad so anything that happens to him is alright. This continues more and more channels rehashing the same points to try and get attention from an interested audience. Cyrax, Daniel Larson, Wings, (DSP to a much lesser extent) and plethora of other weirdo's all have these little industry's around them. In and of itself just having people talk about a cow isn't anything new, so what's so different about this new breed of orbiter? A single phrase.
"Blank" is the next Chris Chan. Look in the comments section of any video about Larsen, Cyrax, or any other mainstream cow and you will see people referring to them as the next Chris Chan. This is absolute futility as the set of circumstances that made Chris, Chris-Chan are unique to him and not creatable by onlookers wishing for a thing to be so. And so in these communities you have people artificially trying to force Chris-esque behavior by harassing, deluding, and harming the mentally ill. People aren't trolling these individuals because they themselves find it funny, they're doing it so other people see what they are doing and come watch them fuck with the retard endlessly. This causes other people to either escalate or attempt radically different strategies to get the cow and (more importantly) an audience's attention. This then creates the industry I am talking about where it has been artificially built around a target having most of the following criteria:
1. Physically unattractive. The weirder looking the better. It helps with the "point and look" factor. Bonus points if they are actually deformed.
2. Socially Unusual/Unacceptable behavior. Lack of social norms, weird hobby, and/or oversharing of deeply personal information to strangers all make for great topics of ridicule that can be endlessly poked and prodded for reactions.
3.Mental Illness. Separate from #2, this can be anything from autism, fetal alcohol syndrome, BPD or basically anything that gives the person delusions/the ability to be easily influenced by trolls to do/say/or believe things to be true that are not. This often includes fake friendships, fake romantic relationships, and rivalries that are fictitious.
4. An easily recognizably unlikable attribute. Does the person make vivid threats easily like Cyrax? Are they lazy fat fucks like Tophiachu? Or have they physically hurt someone else like Daniel Larson did? These all become core points that the orbiters keep in the forefront of the viewer's mind so that they want to see lolcow humiliated, distressed, or even hurt. because they deserve it.
5. Sexual Deviancy. Whether it be an obscure fetish, inappropriate/illegal behavior, or general sex pestness, this is an absolute anchor for the orbiters to excuse all their behavior on. It has such a strong reaction with viewers that it makes it further makes them want to see bad things happen to the lolcow, preferably with some sort of escalation of harassment or loss of something the lolcow values. Especially valuable is the label of "pedo" which seemingly excuses anything done by the orbiters, and increases the orbiter's profits. It does not matter how you get this label, all that matters is that you can have carte blanche to do anything once it has been established.
6. Poor support system/easily isolated. Ideally the lolcow has no sensible support structure preventing the orbiters access to them, oversight as to their online activity, and/or become reliant on the orbiters as a form of attention. This is especially valuable if the lolcow has delusional tendencies, and lacks the wherewithal to simply remove themselves from the social circles affecting them.
Orbiters find someone that posses these qualities and then try and push them to "be the next chris chan" so that the orbiter can profit off the ensuing news/drama/misery. An example of this is a fairly unknown person called "The White Bowser" (they have a thread in spergatory) who is a distinctly uninteresting retard. However, because he ticks enough of those boxes, there are hours of content of unfunny faggots getting him in zoom calls so they can confront past behavior, accuse him of some new gross thing, or trick him into saying something stupid. All eaten up by a small group of fans who want to watch people le epically own a "bad guy". It isn't original, it isn't clever, and above all it isn't funny. Most retards are lonely gullible people who will latch onto any kind of attention (even if its negative) and unless someone radically intervenes they become locked into these cancerous orbits until they die, disappear or go to prison. Anytime an orbiter says they want the lolcow to improve, grow, or make a positive change it is a fucking virtue signaling lie made knowing the cow will not change, and allow the orbiter to act like some kind of beacon of fairness.
I just want to laugh at odd little people on the internet. Share some jokes with people in threads. Maybe even watch a funny video of a lolcow doing something dumb. Because of this I have noticed this increasing trend of unfunny faggots trying to profit off the contrived suffering of retards. I realize that there will always be groups of people who are unreasonably invested in the downfall of a lolcow (Fatrick, Wings, DSP, Chantel, etc), but I do feel as if recently things are a little different. People don't just want to watch a lolcow flail, they want to hang him, hold the rope while he screams, and then feel good about themselves afterwards because the lolcow DESERVED it. I have no "how then shall we live closing" or anything of that nature, but I am interested to hear what other people think about this topic.
