Logile Connect? - Help a kiwi out

I apologize if this isn't the board, but I need help I'm a boomer and know dick about technology.

Recently, my job has gone through some restructuring, this has included changing the way we clock in. Now, I have to use logile connect to clock in and out, and it tracks me actively. If I try to clock in from too far away it knows. I looked it up and it apparently can't be spoofed by VPN's. Is there any way to cheat the system? I feel this violates my rights. I don't even use Facebook because I don't want my information harvested by these fucks, now work is dependent on my ability to have a smartphone?

Is work tracking me in my day to day life now that I have this app on my phone?

I have not used logile personally, but I use a similar service as ordered by my employer.

While I've never done it, I have coworkers that use GPS spoofers on their phones to defeat these things.

I would assume that while your work might not be, the app itself could be doing so. Normal steps of keeping location off (not that it means much these days) unless actively using it.
If you are required to do this to sign in to work, I do not know how much pull you have with the company (and if you have already accepted/installed it etc) you could request a work device that you store at work for the sole purpose of clocking on/off. If required for work, it should be supplied for work, 'oh no my smart phone broke I only have this flip phone now' excuse.

I could not find what the functionality was called, I thought it was 'app jails' but some versions of Android (and potentially iOS, no experience there sorry) have user or 'work profiles' which you can segregate apps and settings/accounts etc. Not sure again with how invasive the app is but it is an option if available that would mean not getting another phone.

That builds on top of the 'work profile' that I thought was a thing, that is pretty neat.
