Shetland Sheepdog next to a rough collie. My earliest memory is getting a Sheltie for my first dog at 3 years old. He was afraid of everything, but always stood between us and any threats. No doubt he would have laid down his life for his flock (my siblings and me). Thankfully he never had to.

Never had a collie but some neighbors a few years back had one. From what I saw, they're exactly the same, just in a bigger package. Would recommend either for all your shepherding needs.

When I lived overseas we had a big collie, he was possibly the smartest dog I’ve ever had, and he was very gentle with me and my sister, and very overprotective. He loved my mom to death and he listened to whatever my dad told him. Very good experience with a rough collie personally.
