2:43 p.m. update: Police have confirmed the area will remain closed for several days.

2:41 p.m. update: Midland police say they incident is over but the area remains closed and that people should avoid the area.

2:28 p.m. update: FBI is on scene and deployed special agents and victim servies personnel to assist Midland Police at the scene of the shooting, according to a statement from FBI Director Kash Patel.

2:08 p.m. update: Midland Memorial Hospital says five people have been released.

2:06 p.m. update: The shooter has been identified as Victor Mata Villarreal, who was also wanted for allegedly shooting at a Midland police officer.

1:50 p.m. update: A news conference at the scene of the shooting is expected to begin in the next 20 minutes. The FBI is currently at the scene.

1:12 p.m. update: Texas Gov. Greg Abbot has tweeted a statement about the shooting: "Cecilia and I are deeply saddened by the senseless act of violence in Midland. We are praying for the victims, their families, and the entire community. I have been briefed on the matter and commend the swift response from the Midland Police Department, DPS and all assisting law enforcement agencies."

12:20 p.m. update: According to information from Midland Memorial Hospital, three victims have been discharged. Four others were in the operating room. One is in recovery, three remain in surgery. Two victims are in stable condition and remain in the emergency department.

12:10 p.m. update: No information about the identity of the suspect is being released. The city also says Odessa Hospital is also handling some of the victims.

12:09 p.m. update: Donations will be handled by the United Way, according to the city.

12:08 p.m. update: Family members are asked to call Midland Memorial Hospital directly for updates on the victims. Law enforcement remains in the area.

12:07 p.m. update: The city says the suspect's death was confirmed by robot and drone footage.

11:46 a.m. update: The active shooter situation has been resolved. The suspect has been confirmed deceased. The scene remains active and has not been cleared and road closures are expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future.

11:05 a.m. update: Midland Memorial Hospital reports that it has received nine victims from the active shooter incident. Four are in the operating room. Five are stable.

10:52 a.m. update: One person has been confirmed dead. Blong says the suspect has been contained but is not in custody.

10:51 a.m. update: Blong says family members should go directly to the hospital's chapel.

10:50 a.m. update: A family reunification center has been established at the hospital. Call 432-631-4689 for details.

10:49 a.m. update: The city will be providing updates on its Twitter page because of the Facebook outage. Mayor Lori Blong also says that blood is needed and that food donations are being accepted.

10:47 a.m. update: The city says at a news conference that the situation has been secured and that there are victims.

10:41 a.m. update: Midland Memorial Hospital reports it went into lockdown at 8:20 a.m. as a result of the active shooter event. As of 10:10 a.m., the lockdown has been lifted for the main campus but the Emergency Department will remain locked down until further notice., The hospital has established a family reunification for vicims' families at the main campus. Families can enter through the main doors and gather in the hospital cafeteria. The public is urged to avoid the hospital unless you need emergency medical attention.

A Facebook posting from the City of Midland confirms Midland police responded to reports of an active shooter in the area around 4600 W. Wall Street. Responding officers heard gunfire and responded quickly to secure the area. Armored units have been deployed and partner agencies are assisting in efforts to bring the situation to an end.

TxDOT has confirmed that multiple roads in the area are closed because of the presence of law enforcement.

Niggers don't do this. They don't have jobs and therefore the money necessary to actually have service performed, and even if they did they wouldn't have the wherewithal to address the issue (see: ceiling birds). They just steal another one that's in better shape instead.
 
Haven't read any of the article or any of the other replies. My bet is on it being a black man who's angry about the Karmelo Anthony sentencing.
