🌟 Internet Famous Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

$550 for a 60hz, HDMI 2.0 TV? Or, how about a 144hz TV with 2 HDMI 2.1's with VRR for the same price that you can just choose not to fucking connect to the internet if you're that worried about it? What's the point of claiming Smart TV's are saving money by selling your data and that's why they're cheaper, when the dumb TV is the same price and 'saving you money' by selling your outdated tech?

And more importantly

Asshole is just trolling at this point. Chink wife must have decided sex is off the table now that procreation is done and he's just comfortable looking nasty.

Because he's deliberately strawmanning an argument he himself doesn't believe in. TV's are straight up commodities now, there's very little market differentiation at the low end, and that includes the smart vs dumb delineation. I don't know why he's trying to present it as a cost savings measure vs "I don't want 'smart' shit" straight line decision, other than that doing it this way makes it sound dumber than it is.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=LJh72_O4pXEReviewed a dumb tv. Which is not as good as a smart tv. Mainly picture quality. They didn't mention this, but the best way for keeping your privacy on smart tvs is never connecting them to internet. if you have to, only doing so once. And if you need it connected, use dns blocking and firewall rules to block them from talking to the outside world.
The typical LTT viewer is terminally online, so the idea of not connecting an Internet-enabled device to the Internet doesn't even register with them.

Anyway, fuck smart TVs, and fuck modern TVs in general. I'm too old and blind to appreciate 4K. Imma gonna keep using my 20 year old 40" Sony Bravia until it dies or I do.

Biggest of all, make sure you never use your tv for streaming. use a 3rd party box. or watch all your media locally on something like a kodi box or a disc player.

I haven't connected a TV to the Internet since 2010. I've never used a streaming service either (been torrenting since the protocol first came out in the early 2000s). I did have a Win10 box for playing TV/movies, but mpv for Linux now supports HDR (with some work) and I moved my media PC to Linux last year and never looked back.

But I agree. Never connect your TV to the Internet. I don't understand how anyone would after the leak that Samsung was sending audio constantly back to their servers like a decade ago. Like, literally a two-way telescrene from 1984. I don't understand why the fuck anyone would have an Amazon permanent spy microphone (Alexa/Echo) in their house either.

But I agree, LTT's general audience is too stupid to understand rejecting the Internet of Trash.

I was watching dvds on a crt projector back in the late 90s and using a pc to play and upscale them to hi-def. htpcs were just becoming a thing. These days on oled I never even considered using clunky apps with ads when I can just watch content straight over hdmi from a properly configured pc. Much easier and better quality and no need to turn the tv into a security nightmare.

Small random update I'm stealing from the LTT subreddit for commentary purposes. It looks like they've switched their merch t-shirts from 60% cotton, 40% polyester to 50/50, increasing the amount of plastic. Generally speaking (and especially with blanks) polyester is cheaper than cotton, so they're probably doing this to increase the margins on their shirts in exchange for sacrificing a small amount of quality.

Linus loves to throw around the reddit term "enshittification " when it comes to insulting other brands, but he engages in it too when it benefits his bottom line.

Sarah Butt leaves or is fired.
first merch drop after fucked up with an obvious trademark issue.
Now t-shirts and likely other products reduce in quality.

Congratulation @LinusTech ! You managed to fuck up the only part of your company that was functioning.

Lets not forget that modmat that still doesn't exist.

Yup. While I have no idea what circumstances under which Sarah left (Maybe she didn't want to sign off on obviously sub-par goods) the fact that they clearly didn't have a competent second in place to avoid shit like this hitting the customers is a major failing of Linus. One of the few true hard leadership responsibilities is to make sure you've got continuity. And you gotta vet them regularly, seconds are like backups, if you don't occasionally test them, you might as well not have them either.

Anything less than 100% cotton is Jeet trash. Which is LTTs audience.
Leviticus 19:19 - "Keep my decrees. Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material."

Not only does that explain LTT's shitty blended t-shirt fabrics, it also explains Linus's yellow fever.

Also, i feel like this video is months old. Not sure why they're wearing sweaters and winter hats in April.
I don't know who edited this but it feels like it was done at the last minute. You can hear Linus' voice being picked up by the other guy's mic.
I wish more companies would make TVs like that. Smart Tvs are awful, the hardware is so cheap that it can't handle all the bloated software. Also ads and data blablabla.

Not having cross training of positions and skills is even more ridiculous when you remember that at its peak, his company had 100 employees.

They won't because it's an additional component. They can use the same "smart" shit across 10 different models of TV within the brand, which means 1 board with 1 firmware to worry about. Creating a "dumb" version would actually mean more work, tracking another board/part, and at the end of the day result in a lower margin. And that's before even considering the volume of sales for "smart" TVs which the average consumer does want.

It's the same set of reasons every auto manufacturer wants to turn the dashboard into a bunch of touch screens. They're cheap components that can be used across multiple models(and sometimes even makes) without having to design and then manufacture a bunch of knobs and buttons while engineering an actual console to stick all of that into. "Here's a rectangle to fit a tablet, this model has a slightly bigger rectangle to fit the larger one that costs us $10 more but we up-charge $3,000 for it" because the average consumer is a retard.

I can't believe Canadian taxpayers are footing the bill for this absolute effeminate faggot. It doesn't surprise me now that he once employed trannies and was so pro vaccine. I hope this guy's private jet crashes in great white shark infested waters.

Connecting TV to the Internet is amazing. How can you live without innovations such as laggy web apps, invigilation, typing on a remote, software update popup every few weeks?
Fuck that.
Hook up some mini pc or laptop is the way how Jesus ordained to do.

I worked with a guy once who used Ryobi tools. There was a lot of judging going then - his shit didn’t work half the time.
i don't understand the appeal of ryobi. for a few bucks more when you wait for a sale, you can get basic bitch dewalt brushless. over like 10 years, wtf is the few $ worth of savings gonna mean if the tool is shittier to use every time you pick it up?

i know a guy that bought a mega pack of ryobi tools when he bought a house. years later he bought a ryobi lawnmower that uses the same batteries.... yeah his 8 year old 4ah batteries so the mower works like shit. wild.

ltt viewer does wifi everything even when they could easily run ethernet
ltt viewers use google docs because it's "free"
ltt viewers use google chrome signed into their account using their real name and billing address
ltt viewers are too low iq to adblock so they browse like its 2005
ltt viewers pay for 7 different streaming services to get their goyslop
ltt viewers use windows 11

It looks like they've switched their merch t-shirts from 60% cotton, 40% polyester to 50/50, increasing the amount of plastic
AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA
>"premium" priced clothing
>NOT 100% cotton

linus you fucking nigger what the hell are you smoking

Philips TVs with Titan OS is actually decent "dumb" TV. Just never plug it in internet. It's simple enough for older family members to use. OS layout is better vs generic android tvs and menus switch faster imo.

Only problem is all Philips panels i've seen are QLED / VA garbage tier.
