🌟 Internet Famous Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

I use to watch most of his videos they were decent light entertainment.
The first couple of vids I watched, I enjoyed. Though once I picked up on the shilling and my feed was filled with one of the most punchable faces on all of YouTube, I noped the fuck out.

I guess that one's on me, as the first video I ever saw was the one where Linus tore The Verge's infamous PC build to shreds, and Linus seemed to know his shit. In hindsight, that wasn't so much low hanging fruit as picking up a bucket of fruit that someone left under the tree all day.

The other one was a video where Linus deboonked one of those USB sticks that claimed to make an old PC go faster. Spoiler alert: it's a bootable Linux distro on a flash drive. Krazy Ken did a much better job with this video on the topic imo, though he did acknowledge that Linus made a similar video (presumably to get in front of all the LTT ballwashers who'd infest the comments section bleating about how Ken is copying Linus).

Aren't we already?

@LinusTech you wanna join the Secret Santa festivities. It's great fun and very wholesome especially for a place like this!

@LinusTech join the SS.

The most this did was bring attention to his thread (which he realized and then deleted the post on his subreddit) and probably revived the conversation as to why he had one here to begin with, between the Gamer's Nexus beef and Tranthony being exposed for his incompitency.
I can't work out if Linus is playing 4D chess in order to disavow Tech Fiona, he's completely run out new content ideas and has resorted to mining the Farms for drama, or if he's just a salty little hard-R who is upset that there's a handful of catty bitches making fun of how he's a 40 year old dude wearing braces by choice.

What I'd love to know is who gave him the heads up about his thread. I'd also love to know how someone who has a sprawling (albeit ailing) business empire to micromanage can find the time to spill his spaghetti on a poky little fruit forum in front of a bunch of hate watchers and disappointed former fans.

Come to think of it, early LTT content was enjoyable. The verge riff video but I also liked the build wars series. Reminded me of being young and scraping stuff together, or the banter of working on the assembly line putting computers together.

They chased the "we installed 4 8k TVs in this living room" bug and fell off the cliff unfortunately.

There's something to be said about not constantly expanding your business and staying in your lane. Staying humble and getting really good at the details (see Gamers Nexus).

Growth isn't necessarily a bad thing if there's an obvious reason for it.

Not tech-related, but Mighty Car Mods is a classic example of this. Moog and Marty do mostly the same things now that they did in Marty's mum's driveway back in the late '00s, only now they're middle-aged with a proper garage and sponsors who keep them stocked with tools and consumables.

Those guys built the channel from nothing and spent the best part of two decades grinding away. This led to them having fun with much nicer toys being the fruits of their labour, which would be inspirational for a young person who is just starting their car enthusiast journey whilst juggling school and a part-time job at Macca's. Yet Moog and Marty stay grounded by playing with munted Toyotas and Hondas like they did before they became semi-famous, and they genuinely enjoy it.

It's also a sign that many farmers are out of touch as well. This site is gaining a bigger quiet following than I think people realize. It's part of the subculture which are increasingly rare to find with every little hobby or culture being commoditized. People crave what this site has (free exchange of words) whether or not they have the courage to admit that openly or even to themselves.
Oh %100. Ever since #DropKiwiFarms I'm without a doubt there are more people who silently browse the site before they might even consider joining.

You know what, I honestly forgot about the whole braces thing, which leads me to ask: Linus, why the fuck ARE you wearing braces, when we have this awesome thing called Invisalign? I know Canadian Healthcare can be finicky as fuck but there's no way you can sit there and tell me you were such a cheap ass that you just got normal braces instead of something discrete like Invisalign that has now lead you to post on the Kiwifarms to call us catty bitches only for the trannies on reddit to seethe at you for doing that?

Braces work faster and are easier to adhere to, hence have better results. Not everyone is a match for invisialign. Of all the things to sperg about, someone taking care of their dental health is the most hard R one to go for.

I've taken the extreme step of joining to let you guys know that the quality of your recent fanfics has really dropped off lately, and frankly, I'm disappointed.

The quoted post is not bad. It's got a couple key elements, like stuff I never said and stuff I never did, but what the fuck is this "I hope he doesn't fuck up his mouth" bullshit? I shouldn't have to tell you guys how to milk lolcows.

The 'edge' that I've come to expect is completely missing. Here are some helpful suggestions:

- "he sound(s) different"? Needs to go much harder at the impact on my appearance and enunciation
- needs something about being cucked by my dom wife
- needs more speculation about my failing business - something about desperation
- complete lack of slurs. You're anonymous and there's no consequences. You know you want to do it.
Bro Linus, Bossmanjack is still waiting for his PC build. He needs it to play Mines and Rip City 2, where is it? You promised him a new PC and he's been waiting a year. He's expecting the BLP Kosher x Slightly Stoopid graphic combo on the case, get on it dewd.

@LinusTech do you have any comment on banning your nephew from thanksgiving (or xmas?) for not being vaccinated? People have asked me to source this, but it was just something I randomly heard you say on twitch. Do you have regrets about this?

I came into this thread expecting to read at least some discussion about the hour of pure cringe that was the video with Linus Torvalds. My personal head-cannon is that he made an account here to derail discussion about how awful that video is.
Linus S. - Fag, Canadian (See: entire thread).
Linus T. - Cringey atheist. Linux is cool and I use it every day (personally and for work). I like Git only because I've had to suffer with the hell that is using SVN.

FUN FACT:
One of Terry Davis' most famous quotes was said during a video critiquing Linux.
"An idiot admires complexity, a genius admires simplicity." - Terry A. Davis

The most annoying thing is, instead of making a techslop video that's essentially just building a computer with famous computer man, why couldn't we get something a little more educational that Linus T. would be able to contribute more substantially to? Help normies understand how operating systems work? Doing something like Linux from scratch with interesting anecdotes from Linus T. could have been a cool video, but probably too boring for the LTT audience.

This is my main criticism of LTT videos. They're just a bunch of time wasters created to shill products at you. When they go deeper than just scratching the surface, the information is not reliable as covered in the GN videos.

  • Linus S. fangirls really hard over Linus T. It's hard to watch and it's the first 2 minutes of the video. The braces make it worse.
  • Linus S. admits that his family name does not have "genealogy" attached to it.
  • Linus S. makes it a point to make sure everyone knows that he read the book Linus T. wrote. Linus T. retorts by saying that he's never watched a Linus S. video. Linus S. then says "I am the beta Linus today."
  • Not even opening a box yet, Linus S. says "I'm having way too much fun today." and continues babbling like a retard.
  • Hearing Linus T. explain the need for ECC for development was interesting.
  • Linus S. fishes for ass-pats by saying that he hates voicemail.
  • Linus T. shows off a guitar pedal that he designed and created. Linus S. immediately goes into fangirl mode. Linus S. then asks to borrow Linus T's glasses to look closer at what is just the bottom of a PCB (very pathetic). "Do these make me look smarter??"
  • There's a bit about Linus S. making sure to give Linus T. free LTT merch that comes across as so pathetic, I thought it was supposed to be a joke at first.
  • They start talking about storage at which point Linus S. makes a Linux ISO's joke. Linus T. doesn't get it and it has to be explained.
  • Linus S. directly references the GNU/Linux Copypasta. Linus T. appears visibly uncomfortable.
  • Linus T. admits that he was minimally involved with the creation of Git.
  • Linus S. makes a really weird comparison between Linus T's projects and children. Linus T. responds by saying "I worry about your children." Everyone looks uncomfortable.
  • Linus S. asks him if he "really wanted to make an operating system." Perhaps he should have actually listened to what Stallman had to say in the GNU/Linux copypasta.
  • Linus T. also refers to Linux as an operating system, making me realize I probably drank the Stallman Kool-aid.
  • There's a cringe bit of editing when Linus S. explicitly points out that they have something in common. They both don't like loud computer fans (shocker).
  • Linus S. shows off the LTT screwdriver. Linus T. looks at it and says "Oh, nice ratcheting" to which Linus S. starts jumping up and down like a monkey upon hearing.
  • Linus T. says that his main source of stress is "people" and glares at Linus S. briefly.
  • Linus S. makes a self-disparaging joke about no one at his company being smart.
  • When answering a question about what things he would have done differently, Linus T. says that he stands by the choice to use GPLv2.
    • Context: Linus T. publicly called the FSS bigots and is an outspoken critic of GPLv3.
  • Linus T. says he thinks it's funny that Microsoft owns GitHub and that their most profitable venture (cloud platforms) run mostly on Linux.
  • Linus T. makes a joke about Linus S. not being a competent teenager because he was into computers but didn't make a game. Linus S. retorts by saying that he "met a girl" when he was a teenager.
  • Linus S. says that Linus T. was surprised that LTT has a product line and then shows off a box knife that was made by some Youtube couple. Linus T. then admits to watching that other channel, but not LTT. Linus S. again points out that they have the same first name. Linus T. then sheepishly says that he watches LTT videos, but was probably lying to get Linus S. to calm down.
  • Linus S. makes a very weak comparison between open source software and the "opening up of knowledge" that Youtube provides. Linus T. doesn't seem amused by this.
  • When talking about pets, Linus T. says that he doesn't understand people who keep aquariums. Linus S. cuts in and says to the camera "But we're not judging." Linus T. looks embarrassed and starts going into the "you be you" talk. Linus S. interrupts again and says "It's not a Linus thing to be judgemental." Linus S's employee sarcastically says "yeah, right" from the background.
  • Linus S. says that Alberta is the only place on Earth except Antarctica that doesn't have any rats. Linus T. responds by saying that even rats don't want to live in Canada (based). Linus T. asks for the joke to be cut from the video but Linus S. insists on leaving it in. Linus T. quits smiling and looks uncomfortable.
  • They start talking about the power supply being used for the PC build (they are building a computer slowly during this whole video). Linus T. makes the obligatory comment that the power supply "may not be the sexiest part of a computer, but they do matter." Linus S. then says "that's what I tell my wife about my... power supply." Linus T. looks horrified and lets out a breathy "wooow...." while looking away.
  • There's a cringe bit where Linus S. makes Linus T. stand across from him and they point at each other to emulate the Spiderman meme. Linus T. has no idea what's going on and a zoomer is summoned to come show the image. Linus T's reaction is "okay..."
  • Linus S. tries roasting his staff for asking Linus T. what would happen to Linux if Linus T. dies (this was a "viewer" question). Linus S. was overreacting. The question wasn't asked in a particularly rude way.
  • Linus T. says "on the internet, nobody has good taste" when referring to possible meme creation about his death
  • Linus T. interrupts the zoomer staff person mid-question to make a joke about necrophilia.
  • They start talking about AI and vibe coding. Linus S. sets up a question about AI and calls AI training "theft." Linus T. answers by saying "That's reality, deal with it."
  • Linus T. has a surprisingly positive opinion about AI.
  • Linus T. vocalizes the most milquetoast opinion that AI is a bubble. Linus S. cuts in and says "not financial advice"
  • They are using an Intel Arc GPU to which Linus S. and his zoomer staff person make several puns about. This is so cringey that Linus T. literally pounds his head on the desk.
  • THEY NEVER ACTUALLY EXPLAIN WHY THE INTEL ARC WAS CHOSEN - This was actually explained in the pinned comment.
  • Linus T. answers a question about how much coding he actually does presently (which is pretty much zero). Linus S. interjects and tries to make up something that they have in common, which is asking other people to do work (?). A bizarre email that Linus S. sent is shown on screen.
  • Linus S. says someone in LTT was "extremely upset" about Elon Musk using lines of code written as a metric of productivity for programmers.
  • They both share a moment where they joke about Elon Musk not being efficient with a cringe bit of editing.
  • Linus T. says he doesn't like travel.
  • Linus S. spergs and says that he was "ready to move heaven and earth" to go film with Linus T. so that he didn't have to travel.
  • Linus T. says that he's having fun having "fake Linus" (joke from beginning of the video) build a computer for him. The zoomer staff person says "please don't sound like you have a gun to your head."
  • They start talking about the proper pronunciation of "Linus." Linus T. makes a comment about not even correcting people who mispronounce his last name. He asks Linus S. not to even attempt.
  • Linus S. explains his Linux retardation during his Linux daily driver challenge videos.
  • Linus S. fishes for complements, asking if he met expectations. Linus T. says he had "zero expectations" for filming the video.
  • Linus T. starts sucking up and says "you are a groundbreaking youtuber... you are changing the world." This sounds half-hearted.
  • Linus S. overreacts to hearing the sound of a cable rubbing up against a fan. This appears very childish and Linus T. looks uncomfortable.
  • Linus T. is asked about gaming. He says he keeps a PlayStation to let kids in his family play when they're over during Christmas. He also played Horizon Zero Dawn but forgets the name and calls it "shoot the dinosaurs game." Linus S. proclaims that that game was the first one he played all the way through on Linux. Linus T. didn't know that it ran on Linux.
  • They talk about distros. Linus T. says he uses Fedora because it's kernel friendly. There is a little shit talking about Ubuntu. Linus T. says "it's not for me clearly, by design."
  • Linus S. makes an Arch, btw joke. Linus T. doesn't get it.
  • Linus T. only cares about the kernel and wants a distro that "just werks :^)"
  • Linus T. doesn't know how to create bootable media with an ISO in Windows.
  • Linus T. - "I don't give people tech tips."
  • Linus T. on privacy, when asked about location services during the Fedora install - "give it all out and be so uninteresting that nobody cares"
  • Linus S. begs for Linus T. to share his desktop wallpaper. The request is obliged.
  • Linus T. is asked if he uses iPhone or Android. He uses Android because it contains Linux, to the surprise of no one. Linus T. also says that Apple never sent him any free stuff, to which Linus S. points out is a thing they have in common.
  • Linus T. says that he doesn't care about widespread Linux adoption, but cares about having users.
  • There is a sponsor segment that is just an annoying song.
  • They start ending the video and Linus S. profusely thanks Linus T.
  • Linus T. says he had fun, but isn't universally loved as Linus S. has stated earlier when discussing comments
Final verdict: This video is pathetic and Linus S. was acting like a child. Not explaining why the Intel Arc was chosen for the computer build in the video was the most egregious transgression.

I hold no ill will towards Linus, I don't know him or his private life in any capacity but I just lost interest in LTT as a brand when it went from a bunch of nerds messing around with technology to a more clean safe corporate vibe with lots of product placements and advertising. Linus has said and done some things that I do not agree with and the whole Louis Rossmann/Gamers Nexus drama slapfight did not help and I hope that Linus has made amends behind the scenes as both Louis and the GN teams seem to be good people. Both GN and Louis are trying to make the tech space better, exposing shady business practices, scams and fraud, not treating customers with respect and fighting for right to repair. Most people view LTT as sellouts.

The best way to fix LTT content would be to not follow to Mr Beast content milking where they spend tons of money to make money. That's just a way to alienate your original audience and have to trend chase for a new audience that will leave if you are too far behind the current trends. Do stuff with cars or set up a LAN party using vintage tech or something. Slow down with paid promotions/sponsors, treat your employees properly and don't treat your audience like a bunch a children. Start advocating for right to repair and proper business practices from the companies you advertise for.

Also if Linus is reading this don't take the farms too seriously, there are people meaner and more racist than me and because this is anonymous, people will just say wild shit for laughs or to get a reaction out people. The best option is to ignore it or own it and go along with the jokes and laugh at it but the worst thing to do here is to get mad and make videos or angrily cope in the threads

Thank you for listening to my TED (SPED) Talk

Oh yeah, good point. @LinusTech, you need to bend the knee and ask these two for forgiveness. Make a video where you take accountability for your behaviour and beg them to help you fix yourself and your channel. Ask them to publicly audit your processes and publish their findings without your editorial oversight. Implement whatever restructuring they recommend, okay?

Also, you should unshadowban me from commenting on your videos. I have important insights you cruelly withhold from your audience.

I'd like to be nice and assume you're referring to Linus as being the hard R in this conversation, but chances are it's me, so I'll just ask this: As a 40 year old man, is it really a good idea to pick a fight with hard Rs over the fact they made fun of you for wearing braces, or should you focus on meeting the bottom line of your dying company so you don't have to keep shilling merch on your vids, which you'll do regardless cause your chinisium is supposedly better then their chinisium?
