Saludos! In honor of the Sebatstian community joining theme here's Convict George surfing watchpeopledie and trying to join a fellow member and friends cult a few months before he/she/they (?) assaulted a jail guard and several deputy sheriffs. Linus may have a future school schooter in the family. Maybe LMG could do a bulletproof backpack merch product and donate them to local schools to limit future damage?

I've taken the extreme step of joining to let you guys know that the quality of your recent fanfics has really dropped off lately, and frankly, I'm disappointed.

The quoted post is not bad. It's got a couple key elements, like stuff I never said and stuff I never did, but what the fuck is this "I hope he doesn't fuck up his mouth" bullshit? I shouldn't have to tell you guys how to milk lolcows.

The 'edge' that I've come to expect is completely missing. Here are some helpful suggestions:

- "he sound(s) different"? Needs to go much harder at the impact on my appearance and enunciation
- needs something about being cucked by my dom wife
- needs more speculation about my failing business - something about desperation
- complete lack of slurs. You're anonymous and there's no consequences. You know you want to do it.
Why did you let your children kill your cat by stuffing the cat in a washing machine and turning it on?

I gave up on this video after about 4 minutes, even for a corpo whore like Linus this just didn't feel right. Dude had stage 3 colon cancer and they try and make a AMD upgrade with him, and his wife/girlfriend is there way too much and they're both dangerhairs, but she gives vibes like she's going to kill him for the life insurance soon and is just biding her time.

Turns out that if you build it, they'll just stay on youtube because you forgot to build discoverability into it.
Wasn't there a kiwi a while back that looked at floatplane and couldn't figure out wtf was even on it? Wasn't searchable without subscribing, no list of content creators available, etc? When basically every other content service on the planet will show you what sort of content they have as a way to entice you to sign up? Instead with floatplane it's just got Linus' face slapped on it(literally on the homepage).

I go to floatplane.com and I see Linus. Then scrolling down, I see that it's a Canadian company and they have a mobile app.

At least with nebula.tv there's some featured content(with trailers) then a list of shows and creators(with more trailers), then I scroll some more and I get more shows that are on the platform with trailers. I scroll more and it shows topics I can click on with and lists creators that cover those topics. Scroll more and get the list of features and platforms they're on. And then finally the free trial and subscription price.

Why the fuck would any creator bother signing up for floatplane when they won't be advertised, shown, featured, or anything on the homepage of the fucking site. And why would any consumer sign up for a subscription when they can't tell wtf is even on the site other than more of Linus which they already get on his dozen youtube channels for free anyway? I seriously wouldn't be shocked if most of the floatplane subscribers are just LTT simps from reddit and his youtube comments, because there's no reason for anyone else to even look at it.

It's funny how Floatplane is older than Nebula and it has the same basic premise but because @LinusTech is retard he didn't invested in UX, discoverability, marketing and the 20% that requires 80% of the work and now his platform is Diying and Nebula is only growing up each day
It's more than just nebula. Disney+, HBOmax, Hulu, Netflix, all of these sites are streaming media services that will show you what you can watch as a customer by signing up. Linus' floatplane bullshit is the only one that doesn't do this. Doesn't matter if it's random internet content creators, big productions, even fucking porn sites will show you the type of content on the page for free without paying a dime or signing up for an account because no sane person would throw money at a blank page for mystery content. It's basic fucking marketing that hasn't changed on the internet since the 90s.

While you're better at most subjects on this website at trying to save face, nothing says "I don't care" like making an account and trying to play it off as if you don't care, buddy. Maybe instead of posting here how about you stop stealing prototypes and make good reviews for once?
Steve won, btw.

Because Nebula was made by actual creators and engineers who care about sustainability, and want it to deliver actual value beyond "make more money for linus".

RealEngineering did a video about how Nebula works because he was involved in its creation, and it's pretty clear their team thought about quite a lot of stuff and did actual ENGINEERING to solve problems. (Who would have thought???)

Meanwhile you have FloatPlane basically being a basic AWS Angular wrapper that apparently takes a whole team to maintain and is flaunted as "ENGINEERING", when it's the sort of project a university graduate would make as an portfolio project to get a FAANG job.

At one point early on, Floatplane did actually have some cool niches it could have developed into. E.g gun creators. But from what I could gather Linus was very against this (think him and luke spoke about it on an old wan show), so he didn't capitalise on it, and now the gun guys just made their own version of Floatplane (Pepperbox), and it's probably more successful than floatplane at this point. Makes you wonder how a bunch of gun youtubers who don't have any background in technology are able to hire, maintain, and develop a product that serves their users better, than the biggest tech channel on youtube that supposedly has all this "expertise"

Fucking great work with the title and thumbnail @LinusTech
You turned all of those Mr beast parody thumbnails into real life

Jesus fucking Christ that's morbid.

Edit: I think I've even made less disgusting jokes about death and cancer than this fucking thumbnail. Jesus Christ. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Why couldn't it be "my friend is in hospital"? Why a reference to "before he dies"?

Edit: I ain't watching slop khantent but apparently the sick guy specifically requested he joke about it in the video, so I guess it's fair game lol - here is the khantext courtesy of plebbit:

Floatplane is another revenue stream for LTT that is supposed to be more stable vs adsense and sponsors, that lets them directly monetize the viewer. It also insulates them from issues with YT.

The problem here is that it kind of doesn't make any sense. Think about it, there's plenty of pay walled sub content sites out there. It doesn't make much sense in building and maintaining your own site when someone else has. Yes it's under your control but is that worth the cost? The stability of any "content" creator is tied to their brand, you fuck up (like LTT has) and that will negatively impact you regardless of owning your pay to view own site. YT will always be the piler that LTT has built their business so they will never be independent from Google.

Floatplane should've been turned into the new "plz sub to Patreon" grift that online people used to cry about but that would require LTT to actually build a businesses with partners and customers. You'd think that the obviously successful LTT could do that but apparently they can't. I think the problem is that LTT's success was built on YT's almighty algorithm rather than any real understanding of how to be successful in the real world. The shit show of a merch businesses is another example of this fundamental incompetence.

At a basic level Linus was in the right place at the right time. He worked for a brick and mortar computer hardware specialist at a high level. He always had contacts and knew how the hardware venders worked. His boss wanted a massive online presence and pushed him into it. YT was pretty young at the time and any production values put him leagues ahead of the compassion. The inertia from those early days have got him this far but the steam is starting to run out. He's trying to compete with other tech tubers who have significantly less overhead.

As an aside, does anyone else think Linus looks sick? Like he's lost weight or something?

Floatplane predates most of these. If they’d done what Nebula did and promoted it outside a very tightly knit circle of LMG&Friends (only one I can think of is Level1Techs) and let you see what’s actually on there before paying them it could have become huge.
If I go on Nebula there’s a whole catalogue available to browse, including previews. I can find something I want to watch and feel an incentive to sign up. If I go on Floatplane there’s a photo of Linus and the monthly fee. So unless I already know a channel is also on Floatplane, like Level1, I’ll have zero incentive to sign up. And Level1 posts all their exclusives and early access stuff to Patreon for a dollar per month, so why would I even bother with having Linus as a very expensive middle man?
