It felt like a game David Cage would make while conked out on horse tranquilizers.

Incoherent and meandering, but not the sort of "no seriously what the fuck" insanity that make his games the CYOA genre's equivalent of a fun B Movie, it lacked the insane energy that makes bad CYOA games fun.
 
I finished it the other day; it's a beautiful game visually and interacting and exploring was very rewarding - I'm still tempted to open it up and collect more snapshots.

Some of the characters seemed too easily swayed into co-operating with you when Max was nice to them, (i.e Victoria and Frank). I also noticed that a lot of characters used the "wipe something from eye" animation a lot. A minor nitpick, but it was distracting.

I honestly couldn't warm to Chloe - she threw Max under the bus, pulled her into dangerous situations and wanted to steal charity money. Losing her dad isn't an excuse; I lost a relative in my teens too and I did none of the shit she did.

So yeah, I saved Arcadia Bay. I was pretty disappointed that you could only pick two endings, and none of your previous decisions mattered at that point.

because no matter what you did everything was pointless - thats a fucking awful way to end a choice driven game. Honestly it almost felt like the universe where Chloe got crippled was better for everyone because Nathan and the other students all seemed happier.

The only thing I hate about that outcome is all the debt her parents end up being piled with.

For the $10 I paid for it, it wasn't bad. I thought it was visually appealing enough and the story had some parts in it that genuinely interested me. I had fun figuring out some of the puzzles and liked how some of the minor things you did had little effects later on.

The ending was... poor to say the least. It didn't feel all that rewarding to get to and the endings no matter what you choose just felt generic to me. It's not really a game worth playing through more than twice honestly.
 
Been taking my time getting through the game. It's not a bad game, especially if you picked it up on sale. There were some moments that I genuinely enjoyed, especially the ending of chapter 3 and the beginning of chapter 4.
 
Bought episode one and played through it today. There's still two more to go, so I can't really give any complete thoughts on whether the plot was good or bad. Certain things WERE a bit predictable though. The rewind power is gone, but it's still way too easy. The game still kinda holds your hand through most of the puzzles.

I do think it was a good move making Rachel Amber an actual character in this one, instead of just a plot device though.

One of my biggest gripes about the first one was that the game seemed to want us to care about her, but you never see her so all you really have to go on are what the other characters say about her. Like, when you find out she's dead and Chloe has her breakdown, it's clearly supposed to be a sad moment. For me, it was just "meh." I wasn't introduced to her as a character so I had no reason to invest in her story.
 
I watched a Let's Play of it 'cause I didn't wanna buy it and nearly fell asleep multiple times.
It's alright but nothing special.

In the end I even liked Nathan Prescott more than Chloe. The main reason for this might be that I hate foolish brats like her who are bitching about everything in real life as well.
 
Just did the first episode of the prequel and really liked it as I did the main game.
RIP Elamon the Wizard's legs
