Five liberal senators are demanding that the social media giant YouTube rip down videos about gun making, blaming them for so-called “ghost gun” shootings.

In a letter to YouTube’s CEO, Susan Wojcicki, the letter sent this week warned that efforts targeting the videos so far have been “insufficient.”

The five, led by ardent gun-control advocate Sen. Richard Blumenthal, wrote without evidence that “ghost guns have become the weapon of choice for gun traffickers and convicted felons as well as domestic violent extremists and foreign terrorists. Federal, state, and local law enforcement officials have sounded the alarm that these untraceable firearms present a distinct and deadly threat and have exacerbated the scourge and surge of gun violence that has ravaged communities all across the United States.”

The legal firearms have been cited by police as a tiny slice of the guns used in crimes, though they have been seized on by anti-gun politicians as a symbol of gun violence.

They are not classified by the government as firearms because they are not fully functioning guns when sold in kits, and thus, do not require any serial number, which can be traced. Kits can be purchased online and at gun shows and require some construction to turn into working firearms. At last week’s NRA-sponsored Great American Outdoors Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, there were at least two booths offering the "80% gun" kits, but there were few buyers when Secrets was observing.

The letter has raised concerns among gun rights advocates who have taken to YouTube to warn that it threatens their Second Amendment rights.

Has there even been any major "ghost gun" shooting? I've never heard of one and if it was such a huge issue these faggots would've plastered it all over the media by now.

Not a "mass shooting" but they do turn up pretty often at crime scenes.

Still won't stop the march of technological progress. "Ghost guns" 3d printed weapons, even magnetic accelerated guns will become more common as manufacturing at home gets easier. When CNC machines get cheap enough these retards will hit their real panic threshold.
 
You gota remember that the Feds made the "ghost" gun label really really really wide.

A ghost gun is any gun that cannot be traced to a registered owner, that's it.

So a gun with its serial filed off...ghost gun
A gun with a fake registry...ghost gun
A gun with a forged upper or lower....ghost gun
A 3d printed gun...you betcha that a ghost gun.

So yes...by these laws ghost guns are indeed 90% of weapons used in crimes because even the most debased jogger gang rat knows enough to file off the serial number of dat glok he got from Jamal down the block for $3.50 before he starts waving it around on Facebook and Instagram.

So they use the statistics to try to block the emerging 3D printing technology because nothing is more scary to a wanna be authoritarian style government then a population that can create a means of self defense that cannot be taken away.

Expect to see much more pressure being put out on 3d printers and home forges as the progressives gear up for the final stages of the culture war.

Good. Felons should have more options. There's no reason whatsoever that nonviolent felons should lose their right to protect themselves and their families from violent Ne'er-do-well's.
 
It's too late for this. The only people this will stop from manufacturing their own firearms is the incredibly lazy and unresourceful. (The exact people who would likely fail at manufacturing a weapon in the first place.)

Also, the madness of 2020-2021 made first-time gun buyers out of so many people that gun control of "conventional" mass-produced arms is a dead prospect, even a lukewarm attempt to reheat the AWB and serve it up again was so dead on arrival it never even got to the floor. They couldn't even get people upset over scary "assault rifles" , that's how bad the tide has turned, thanks in part to Kyle Rittenhouse using one to save his life and community from marauding leftist "protestors", showing exactly why we NEED them.

The gun grabbers have never been in this spot before, they have no one behind them to ban handguns, or scary black rifles, nobody is interested in it, not even moderates.

The only viable way to get their fix of knocking guns out of the hands of people entitled by the 2A to posses them is to go after guns that haven't been BUILT yet or literally don't exist except as deliberate word-games with perfectly normal guns.

even if youtube does ban gun videos, that'll just push all the gun content to other platforms. avid gun users are likley to know about sites like bitchute, rumble, odysse etc.
 
What happened to the panic around drone mounted guns anyways? Wasn't that like, in 2014 and there's just been a media blackout since? Is it because it was a nothingburger in most ways since actually counteracting recoil on consumer hardware is hard?
