Let's talk about more important things. Like how great Maurice is and how hot James Wilby was.

New movies (the hockey thing, let's say), turn to pop culture representation of individuals and fetishise everything.
Love Simon. Or that royals one from a few years ago.
Unironically, in a non-spergy way, it's because they are written by women for women (fujoshi) who have no understanding of how romance (or sex) between two men works. There's been a lot of "academic" drivel written about gay fiction penned by women which essentially boils down to "there can't be any mean ole misogyny if there are no women involved!". Whereas of course Maurice was written by an honest-to-goodness homo.

I've seen Love Simon get described as a gay story for straights, which I agree with. I've read some gay written by a woman books which I mostly liked because I'm a sucker for emotional scenes. (Hence why I love writing drama, lol.)

Yes. Maurice is definitely superior because E.M. Forster actually was a gay man. That said, I can't stand reading Proust, because God he's boring.

The biggest reason Maurice is a respected gay film is most likely because James Ivory is also an old school gay man. Dude is like 90 now.

I honestly cant disagree that Maurice is quite probably the best gay themed film in existence. I found Hugh Grant hotter in it though. There are a few other films that come close, like Latter Days, and Another Country.

@Kiwifarmsuser100001 Brother, you're leaking.

Best part is when fujos fuck up basic human anatomy and start claiming that there is an extra hole between the penis and the anus that their sparkly gay boys are fucking.

Yes, really.

Reveal your fantasies to us. We will accept you.

Some will insult you. A random drunk person might yell slurs. But you will be accepted.
No thanks. Not sure if I want to discuss my fantasies with a bunch of gross, fat kiwifarmers who are lazily stroking their thick slippery lubed up cock to everything I post and filling the entire room with the smell of concentrated dick odor.

Erm actually the eucalyptus essence in the lotion makes the entire room smell like a bamboo forest made of penises.

@Kiwifarmsuser100001 is fat and I would not have sex with him.

I've read a lot of short stories written by homos for homos from the 80s and 90s and you can really tell that the characters in these stories have way more depth than what is shown on TV today. You don't get a perfect uwu yaoi boy that you can safely self-insert as a woman, instead it's often very morally ambiguous or downright loathsome/bad fictional homos being portrayed. Also, the stories about AIDS ripping through communities were just depressing.
