Well we're all in deep shit now. Now Donald Trump is starting to threaten North Korea with quote-on-quote "Fire, fury, and power".

In my eyes, this is the position North Korea wants us in. North Korea knows they can't win unless we push the red button first. That way, China and Russia would be against us. And from what I've heard, they're even thinking about nuking Guam.

So, will anything come out of this in the incredibly tense North Korea-United States relations?

It's sounds like Trump is ready to go full Chris Brown on Lil' Kim down there. If North Korea does strike Guam first then that will be an act of war against the US and we'll get sucked into a 2nd Korean war. Were that to happen I would hope we would follow through with the eradication of North Korea as a whole and a possible reunification with South Korea.

No matter how we slice this tons of civilians will die and the war crimes will be off the charts.

Lol given the way they are treated North Koreans have the durability of cockroaches, nuking them would be considered a summer heat wave, followed by a chill breeze by their standards. They proved as much in the past.

The best chance we have is to turn Kin Jong Uno's people against him, including a sizeable amount of the military. He probably won't risk nuking another country if that scenario happens as it would be like poking a bear when you've crippled yourself, if he does actually do it his generals certainly won't agree.

Possibly saber rattling on both sides. Though it's quite scary, I doubt NK would be stupid enough to launch a middle at Guam. Un talks a lot of shit for the most part but they have been slightly successful in their launches recently. Let's hope nothing escalates and more launch failures happen to NK.

People like Kim Jung Il talk in apocalyptic threats because they're weak.

I'm not really impressed to hear bullshit like that from a U.S. President.

That is the kind of message that is best conveyed with several large aircraft carriers and planes doing fleet exercises off their shores so loudly they can be heard in Pyongyang. And calmly worded messages from a President who acts like an actual President and not a cartoon character.

"Speak softly, and carry a big stick." Teddy Roosevelt, best Republican President since Abraham Lincoln.

It's highly improbable that the DPRK will perfect the miniaturization of their nuclear weapons within the next year or so (give them 5 yr maybe), so in the near future it's unlikely that they'll be able to fit a nuclear warhead into their brand new ICBM, which is basically just an overpriced Scud at this point.

We should wait for and observe the effect of the recent UNSC sanctions to take hold before any further tangible escalation in the diplomatic or military sphere. We don't even know if their harvest will fail this year, maybe that will bring additional pressure to bear on them.

The US administration needs to stop trying to have a dick measuring contest with NK. It's going to provoke him more and he may actually do something.

I'm somewhat frightened at the moment as I live in their supposedly working new missile's range.

I am curious to how much further this will escalate. He may not be sane enough that knowing hell be obliterated will deter him. His country is falling apart he may want to go out in history as being the one to send the nukes flying and scored one on the biggest world superpower.

I don't know how NK expects to win anything given that they can't even feed their soldiers enough to reach a decent height. Look at those stubby little legs and gaunt faces.

The threat of the DPRK is not their nuclear or conventional forces.

When Germany reunited, it was under the best conditions. East Germany had the highest standard of living among the Soviet states, even higher that the USSR because of political reasons. So while West Germany had a higher economic power than the East, it wasn't drastic. West Germany outnumbered the population of East Germany 5:1.

The economic cost of a peaceful unification was significant. To this day, Western part of Germany subsidizes the East. On the whole, the process depressed the overall EU economy for a number of years.

With North and South Korea, the South only outnumbers the North by about 2.5 to 1. On top of that, the North has a barely functioning economy, while the South has one of the most advanced. Even a peaceful unification would result in staggering numbers of economic refugees flooding both the South and the Chinese border. The economy of South Korea would collapse. This in turn would devastate their trade partners, such as China and Japan. This in turn would affect the US and the rest of the global economy.

This is why no one really wants the DPRK to fall at all. The economic refugees have to go somewhere.

It's literally a nation of midgets thanks to the incompetence of its government. Of course that fat fuck degenerate offspring of the Kims manages to eat his way into lardassery.

They can't feed their soldiers, period. They eat fucking grass that they have to pick themselves.

If anyone is really worried about North Korea's nuclear/conventional might, don't be. Both parts of their army are woefully behind the times and dependent on equipment so old Hitler was alive when some of it was manufactured. The Kims routinely escalate threats such as the ones they put out recently just to attract attention and scare people; as seen today, they also routinely scale down the threats once people call their bluffs. Of all the dictatorships that hate America in the world, this one is not the one to be afraid of.

Well, Well see. The Ulchi-Freedom Guardian (the yearly us-south Korean military drills every august.) start tomorrow as of this writing. Probably wont lead to war, but you never know. i do expect some response from kim jong un. possibly another missile test. (not an ICBM mind you,) I do believe Trump will Wage war against NK if they do a nuke test. that, or they hit guam or south korea.

US will win, no questions asked - NK's weaponry is far too bottom-of-the-barrel to compete with America's. The problem here is that even if America wins, it loses - thanks in part to creating a huge refugee problem that is likely to emerge.

Then again, such a thing likely won't happen too easily / too soon, either, knowing how fiercely loyal these citizens are to their nation. Thank decades upon decades of brainwashing for that.

Don't forget, South Korea will get dragged into it and it's all downhill from there, in terms of... well, everything.

I know people want to take action and help - but throwing a bunch of shit their way and hoping the problem goes away, like the Trump administration thinks is the best option? Yeah... No thanks. NK sounds like an easy enemy to take down, but the situation is far deeper than Trump and Co. are allowing themselves to think.

I'm usually an optimist but I do have concerns. Maybe it's fear mongering and hearing the news constantly against my own will, but I'm hoping nothing happens this week with NK starting shit. I know it won't turn into a nuclear war(hopefully not) but I do grow tired of seeing "we're in mist of a nuclear war" memes on social media. It makes it hard for me to do things that I want to do w/o all this scare shit.
