Biafra's plight it similar to that of Katanga and Congo, more functional African minority tries to break away from less functional majority, international community supports the less functional majority because if they don't, all the decolonized nations they threw together collapse, Africa sorts itself out on tribal lines and likely becomes harder to influence/control and in Biafra's case the Brits are assholes. Katanga's sin was they wanted whites to stay around and help them run things until they could stand on their own feet.

It absolutely would, especially with the religious differences. Also, the Igbo tend to be higher IQ then the rest, although from personal experience they can be given to a bit of being too clever for their own good. It won't happen because of the oil in southern Nigeria and how it would fracture Africa. Which Africa needs if it's ever going to develop itself. They can manage smaller counties, but large scale infrastructure is tough in Africa for a lot of reasons.

Yugoslavia was basically the European version of Nigeria - a country made up of different ethnic groups who all hated each other and which only existed because it was politically convenient. We all know what happened there, and the message's clear - people have the right to their own country.
