No one thought about saving a lot these buildings, but we have saved a couple. Notably Union Terminal, which we turned parts of into a museum.



If you stand at one end of the archway by the front doors, you can talk at the wall and someone standing at the opposite side can hear you. The Carew building downtown has saved some of its Art Deco parts too.

And I agree. There was something very celebratory of the triumph of man in Art Deco, Idealistic almost. Two World Wars and the Cold War knocked a lot of that out of Western cultures.
