THIS MAN IS THE SINGLE MOST CUCKED CHARACTER OF ALL TIME.

HIS WIFE IS A LITERAL SUCCUBUS FROM HELL.

HIS DAUGHTER IS A WHORE WHO DESPERATELY WANTS TO FUCK MEN IN THE SAME HOUSE HER FATHER SLEEPS.

HIS SON IS RAISING A MEXICAN MANS CHILD.

is anyone else watching this? The show is pretty ok other then the fact that the main character is the living embodiment of the "DAUGHTER" copy paste. ALSO THE SEASON FINALE WAS SHIT WTF WAS THAT!

Sounds like more degenerate propaganda aimed at damaging the foundations of traditional family values. Shows like that are a dime a dozen these days. I can't suffer through these kinds of media because they are just so blatant and predatory. Like how that "Shameless" crap was super popular with young women several years ago. I'm no puritan but being an unabashed whore or criminal will never be virtuous no matter how much they are glorified. It will only cause self esteem and/or legal issues in the long run. I'm not sure how much of it is some conspiracy vs. just entrenched degenerate hollyweird writers.

I don't usually comment on this type of stuff but these shows are just junk and a godawful influence on the youth. Am I being too harsh? It's possible but lots of these types of shows just don't sit right with me.

Im pretty sure the wife and daughter are purposely written to be horrible vain people. also I researched the writer's and believe it or not they actually aren't jewish.

No. Taylor Sheridan is just the living “I reckcon” cuckservative meme. Which of course originated from his other show Yellowstone.

That means you have to take a little cringe with every sip of based.

Watched the first three episodes. It really does feel like the reverse of one of those shows that set out to be so progressive and diverse that they wrap back around to being racist. Feels like some real disconnects between the story and the characters, like the scene with Billy Bob and John Hamm somberly going over the details of the wrongful death payouts for one of their crews except it's intercut with the daughter being a teehee airhead tease and it's played for comedy? Just a weird juxtaposition.

I did like what they did with the company liability lawyer. It would have been easy to just have her be another tv feminist who's always right and always gets the last word but they humanized her a little and it works. And she works well with Billy Bob's character because they're both obsessive workaholics despite having nothing else in common.

The alternative energy monologue was kinda cringe though.

I’ve watched the whole first season of Landman and I honestly don’t understand what the writers are going for with the way they write the mother and daughter. The problems the women are dealing with feel wildly different with what the men are going through.

Cooper Norris watches three men die in front of him, Not long after, he’s in hospital after being jumped by the cousins of one of the dead men, because they think he’s hitting on the widow. Meanwhile his sister treats her breakup like it’s on the same emotional level, and then, when he’s lying in a hospital bed, she’s mad at him for making her miss her first party in the area. I shit you not, that’s her priority.

You see the same kind of mismatch with Tommy and his ex-wife. Tommy’s the one bearing the weight of the job, the cartel mess, and the fallout from the explosion that’s the whole point of the show. She, on the other hand, is written like her main goals in life are to “get a bigger butt,” dangle sex as a reward when he’s had a rough day, and then threaten to take it away from him because he hangs up to take a call about their son being in the hospital.

And they clearly can write a female character, because Rebecca Falcone exists. It just makes it even weirder that the two women closest to Tommy his ex-wife and daughter are written like they’re living in a completely different, much shallower show.

I want to like Landman it has some smart, down-to-earth moments and an interesting premise. But I have no idea why they chose to write the main family’s women this way.

the only people i've heard talking about this show are retired boomers. it literally stars 90s icon Billy Bob Thorton, you think any zoomer knows who that is?

its like Yellowstone, its boomer wish fulfillment. Like if you're a man you probably do think the women in your life are vapid retarded whores no matter what they do for ya. that Tulsa King show is written by the same dude and it stars another 90s hasbeen Stalone, and the entire show is predicated on what a boomer things the world is like

I got into Yellowstone because the guys on a crew I was working with would watch it.

Sheridan has some authentic blue-collar popularity but these people are not sperging about TV online.

If you want a similar show setting to Landman there is “Blood and Oil” which is set in the Dakotas and the fracking boom.

Basically young idealistic couple gets lucky but the man gets more ambitious and wants to risk more and more while feuding with the top oil man in the state (who has an on and off mentor vs rival relationship)

It only lasted one season.

Falcone is exactly the kind of character that annoys the shit out of me in TS joints.

It's like she's written just to be a foil for BBT, and she's alternatively amoral, capable, cunty, brilliant, judgy, pointlessly awful, and downright stupid depending on what kind of point the characters around her need to make.

Like she's trying to gyp poor families out of any kind of reasonable settlement TO THEIR FACE at 7 AM and at 3 in the afternoon on the same day she has a moral problem with fracking while also wondering out loud why the old equipment needs to be replaced.

She's like a less sympathetic version of the vegan lady in Yellowstone. At least that chick was understandable as the city lib who isn't really seeing all sides of the issue and a vacation in ranch country is a way to educate her about How Shit Is.

But if you're going to be an attorney for an oil company in 2024 after shit like the Deepwater Horizon blowout, you can't pretend to be Shocked I Say when the people who write your checks turn out to not really give a shit about the environment.

Tbf that’s a lot of professional “I’m offended”-s. It’s like people who go on about how racism is evil, and without missing a beat will turn and say fuck all whites. (And to be more fair, this isn’t limited to one side or belief system)

You’re 100% right about the quality of presentation though. It’s so lacking in nuance, or belonging to a properly developed character, that it’s just loud and clumsy.
I thought she was going to portray how the Green industry has a dark side to match the oil industry, and make us have to face the hard pros and cons of both, but it’s TS so….

I am four wells deep into the new season and I gotta say this season is way better than the first season.

There's still a problem with the "bitches be crazy" shit, but they've gotten into the weird humor and the characters are allowed some breathing space that wasn't there in the first season.

Also, Angela is the type specimen of histrionic personality disorder.

It's a rare one among the other cluster B's, which are narcissism, borderline, and antisocial.

She feels a desperate need to be the center of attention at all times. Even when she's doing something good, like volunteering at the retirement home, it's the Angela show.

It's still a soap, but it's now providing laugh out loud moments and weepy moments that the first season was missing.

The only thing that is starting to annoying me is Cooper's relationship with the single mom hispanic. Look I got it at first with survivors remorse and he's a 22 year shitbag but the whole has gone full hicklib with her girlbossing the dude that has a chance to be a multimillionaire oilman striving for his dream. The story line of Cooper finding the edges the big guys misses with the looming threating of the Cartel calling their favor is way more interesting then this particular drama.

The rest of the women characters are at least believable and fit the story. Hell yeah after finding out about Tommy life I can believe he would be with a BiPolar chick and having his life be total chaos just normal for him. It got goofy Lawyer Girl found the a chill, in shape Australian roughneck that is into skin care products but ehhhh.
