Not guilty would be best for pretty much everyone. It'll send the left into a frothing rage as well as set a precedent (even if not legal) that if leftwing mobs attack you you're justified in shooting them. Also possibility of antifa chimpout. Not guilty is by far the better verdict in all cases. The right by and large respect the court system (even if they don't like it) in a way the left doesn't, so if he goes away I doubt much would happen.

Admittedly not a ballistics expert, but not quite sure I follow. How does increased speed = LESS chance of overpenetration?

The terminal ballistics of 55gr bullets can cause them to tumble on impact above 2500 fps. Especially when fired from barrels with slower rifling. Sometimes the tumbling is so violent it rips the bullets apart into fragments. The vector of the bullet's spin gets stronger relative to the velocity as the bullet moves slower. Which, better stabilizes the bullet and prevents it from tumbling.

light bullet(55gr) + high velocity(>2500 fps) + slow twist rate (>1-8) = bullet tumble

At least, that's my hillbilly ballistics understanding of it.
