Indeed. The alternative, as the first three CA films at least demonstrated, is to create nothing but a stream of Pooh's Adventures-style narratives where NC says something, then Linkara says it, then Lindsay says it, then Film Bald says it, then Brad says it with a pained expression...some pointless punchline or fight happens, ends, rinse and repeat ad nauseam.
 
This Kickassia talk reminds me of something. Now I don't remember who said it, but somebody on the site said that Doug rarely listened to other people's ideas. People would bring up things to do in the movie and Doug would just shrug them off.
Who knows, maybe the movie would have been slightly better if Doug listened.

If I had to guess, it was probably Iron Liz. She's been quite vocal in her criticism of the site and the people on it. In regards to Doug not listening, I think someone needs to inform him that being the most well known person on set does not make him the talented person on set. Nor does it make him qualified to write for another person's character.

Speaking as someone who watched Film Brain (Yes, I liked his videos in spite of his dogwhistle of a voice) it annoyed me to see him being portrayed as nothing more than a bootlicking sycophant towards the Nostalgia Critic. If I had to describe his normal persona in the most diplomatic of terms, he's animated yet straightforward in his reviews. Where Doug for the idea to make him into his bottom bitch, I'll never know.

It did make him look like a bad leader. I think it was even in the behind the scenes footage. (Maybe that's where I got it from.) There may have been footage of people giving ideas and Doug ignoring it. As much flack as Film Brain gets, I actually enjoyed his work.

I never honestly thought highly of those movies.
Sure, there was some heart behind it, can't fault anyone for that, but looking back at those movies could make even Terry Crews cringe.

I actually kinda liked Kickassia the first time I watched it. Having met the guy who, uh, "runs" Molossia and seeing just what a cool fucking dude he is, I enjoyed seeing him in a silly stupid movie made by a group of people I routinely put on as background noise while working.

Fast forward a few years and read/hear the horror stories about that shoot, and the fuck wits involved with it, it really soured it for me.
 
It's kinda funny. I thought I was the only one who thought that Cinema Snob and Phelous were the best shows on the site.
I used to follow Nostalgia Critic and Linkara's videos regularly, but the skits....Jesus Christ. I could do without those.

Spoony's videos are still watchable, believe it or not, the guy still gets a laugh out of me, but I still think he's a colossal tool for talking down to his fans and allowing his demons to conquer him.

On topic.....Oancitizen. Never watched a single video of his, hated his cameos in the other videos. He comes across as insufferably smug and made me go "YOU ARE NOT FUNNY, FUCK OFF" several times. Why people would give him the time of day, I'd never know. I don't know what his beef is with Brad, but if what I'm reading in this thread is true....he's insecure, and for good reason - he's a snob with absolutely NO charisma whatsoever (although just enough to get $2000 from Patrons, that one still baffles me.) Unlike Brad, who's a total bro I'd hang with any day of the week.

I remember after Trump was elected he made a really pretentious video called "The rise of the tyrant", and the image of the video thumbnail showed Mussolini and Hitler and others. I couldn't stop thinking what was that one about.

It's Doug, he thinks himself to be the king, and has an ego the size of a mountain. He probably does think everybody on that site kisses the ground he walks.
 
To be fair to Film brain when it comes to reviewing bad movies he does for the most part try to analyse why they suck and not just make rapid fire jokes.Doug is basically that annoying guy always screaming in the movie theater that it sucks without saying why until he gets kicked out.In retrospect Doug has been a bad influence on the online review community.Unfortunately Film Brain has been largely out of the bad movie review business these days he's mostly about reviewing new movies and he's about as generic as they come.
