Well if Hillary ever decides that she can't trust him to keep a lid on who he was in the CP ring with, Kurt will probably have one last seizure that results in him shooting himself repeatedly in the back because he happened to be holding a gun he didn't own at the time.
Felt the need to share this if anyone else who dug through this whole thread hadn't heard it yet. Eichenwald is one of those lolcows who are hard to parody because they act like a parody already, but it's a decent effort.
I think Kurt's definitely a drama whore, and he'd cause controversy for attention even if he didn't have a book coming out. He probably doesn't think of it in those terms, it's likely a more subtle thing where his brain's just conditioned to associate that rush of chemicals with him bringing down more hate on himself.

Least we know his father was born in Germany, though he would have had to have left before the war unless he wanted to get out of the country the same way my grandfather did.
I think the reason why some sites like the one I found the death certificates that led me to other Eichenwald's is because the old SIN cards still had the wives last names on them, including Elva who he had divorced still had the last name on the SIN card (Do Jewish people do that?)
Decent chance his father was an economic migrant rather than fleeing oppression. Germany was so fucked up after the war I'm sure there were plenty of people eager to gtfo. Texas would have been a good place to pick since it already had a lot of people of German descent.

All of the Eichenwald's that are listed as getting their SIN's in New York are probably all related, however doesn't say when they got it. It does say when they were born so it's a bit easier to draw that conclusion that they were related and they would have had to have come to the States before 1939, after that they would have had to lie to get to the country.

The matrilineal-only is still very common today in Jewish communities. Many don't even accept the idea of a "half-jew", if your mother is Jewish, you are full Jewish, even if your mother is mixed as well.
I once encountered a SocJus type at a party, talking about how she was Jewish. I asked her if her mother was and she immediately went into a rant about how her rabi said it was okay.
