This sounds exactly like what I had in November. I kind of doubt it was Wu flu, but some of the symptoms overlapped and the weird "phases" the illness came in leapt out to me as unusual. I was fine, but one of my coworkers was hospitalized with pneumonia from it, but she had health issues to begin with.

Everyone on my team caught it, but I didn't infect my husband, but I also slept in a separate room to not keep him awake coughing.

Whatever it is, it's been going around all winter, I've heard about a lot of people getting a similar bug this year. Hope you feel better, it's miserable being sick that long.
The only thing that weirds me out is that I got it after it started spreading in the US and evacuees from Wuhan were being brought back and released in my city (San Diego). We have a large Asian population here, and I work in a retail store that has a substantial Asian clientele, as well as my store being flanked in my mall by nail salons, massage places and other stores owned and employed by Chinese people. So far San Diego's on the low end of infections, but who knows how many people haven't been tested.

There is another nasty cold making its way around this year (hell, it could be a coronavirus, or even THE coronavirus, most doctors have written it off as a nasty cold) that causes weeks long coughing. If you have it now, sounds like a mild case.

My husband had this on New Year's. He had a low grade fever, congestion, and a cough that lasted about three weeks. He's totally fine now, and he's been fine ever since. I have just succumbed to the fact that I will probably always catch something my husband comes down with and vice-versa, so I never really distance myself from him when he's sick. I did not get this particular cold, though.

Don't think that situation was Corona. Especially since I never caught the cold that my husband did.

I dont know if i have/had it. The last week i had stomach problems, coof but no fever. It felt like my lungs were pepper sprayed, and it was slightly harder to breath.
Although lungs felt bad, coof was very light. I never experienced anything like this before. One night i really felt i cant breath tho, but the next day i actually felt better. Pepper was gons from my lungs.
Also i had bad back pain for 2days.
I have no clue if it could be this or not.

I self isolate from last week tjo and work remotely.

I live in a coronavirus hotspot on the West Coast of the US, and have had a dry cough for over three weeks now. Initially, I also had a sore throat and a burning sensation in my upper chest. I've also been shorter of breath than usual after exertion, but haven't had difficulty breathing.

I dismissed it as allergies until I woke up with a crushing headache and fever on the morning of the 6th and realized I hadn't had the itchy eyes or sinus congestion that are always part of allergy season, that none of the plants that give me trouble were even in bloom yet, and that days on end of popping allergy meds hadn't done anything at all for the cough.

Getting tested? Haha, yeah, fucking right. I don't meet any of the criteria for getting tested, so I haven't been. But this crap definitely isn't a cold, isn't influenza, and isn't allergies.

The headache that accompanied the fever's first appearance went away by the end of that day, and hasn't returned. I've had the cough for at least three weeks now, but as of the last three or four days I no longer have the burning/prickly sensation in my chest. The fever seems to finally be on the wane, too; I still wake up with it every morning, but I'm not so warm as I was last week or the week before that, and it doesn't spike again in the afternoon any more. The sore throat was gone after the first (and only) time my fever went above 102F/38.8C.

What didn't kick in until almost a week after the fever hit was fatigue that comes from out of nowhere and knocks me flat. It doesn't happen every day, but yesterday it hit me like a truck and I had to go lie down for about three hours. Sometimes, the waves of fatigue are accompanied by slight chills and body aches, but not always, and they are not accompanied by fever.

I'm sick of the fucking cough, and of waking up feverish every morning, and wish this shit would hurry up and be done with. Other than the bouts of fatigue, I've never felt all that sick, and have continued with work and hobbies as normal.

I've been home, self-quarantining, since March 6, and haven't spoken to another human face-to-face since then, but I'm such an introvert the isolation doesn't bother me. I was fucking made for this moment.

I've talked to my 80-year-old mom on the phone and we've exchanged emails, but goddamn it, she won't stay the fuck home, and keeps running out to the store every day to make small purchases because she's bored. I've tried to warn her since late January, but she has just kept on as usual. She's still rolling her eyes at all the panic buyers, and thinks everyone is overreacting. So I've had to just let the whole matter go, and accept that I've done my part and tried to warn her. I have siblings living near her, and none of them are all that concerned either (though one did at least admit to following my advice and buying some extra food, once the panic buyers started stripping the supermarkets).

Christ. And we're just getting started with this shit? April's going to be one hell of a long month; good thing I'm prepared not to leave the damned house until June.

I strained my throat from screaming at an idiot just when the panic started, leading to a dry throat. My throat has always been finicky, so this happens often.

After a week though, it's slowly going away. It's mild and barely noticable as of right now, and one more night sleep should have it gone entirely, finally. Nothing else even remotely similar, so I'm ready to ride the rest of this crap out from my bedroom.

I had exactly that and it didn't stop until about a month ago. It really sucked.
I think (hope) this is what I have. Had a sore throat last week, gradually turned into runny nose, slight fever and coughing. Symptoms mostly died down but still feel a bit congested and a have a dry cough now and then.

Don't think its the Wu Flu but who the hell knows.

I cant imagine how many of these low level diseases are Corona, or how far they'll spread without detection with such restrictive testing.

We'll never be able to get a hand on the spread if we dont know who has it.

Ha. I have a flamingly gay neighbor who I share a porch with. He's alright but when he sits on the porch and talks on his phone loud and super gay it's annoying. But now I just leave my door cracked open and cough really loud and he runs inside and shuts his door. Coronavirus rules.

My dad visited an urgent care clinic. He tested negative, but then again he wasn't showing symptoms. Doctors determined he had a stomach bug and was dehydrated enough to require an IV. He left the clinic wearing a child sized Mickey Mouse mask because it was all they had left.

So far,t he following users have posted feeling coronavirus symptoms or confirmed coronavirus in the megathread:

Otterly, Judge Olden, In memoriam, EmuWarsVeteran, Feline Supremacist, Xenomorph, Plastic Inevitable, Varg did nothing wrong, Testicular manslaughter, CLSK11, Miang, Fareal (through her children), Druid, Non-Expert!, and obviously Sinners sandwich. Also Niggaplease has disappeared after coming back from a trip to singapore.

Cases of cornavirus seem to have 2-3 waves. What are the new symptoms? It may be developing pneumonia rather then a resurgence of coronavirus.
Drink a shit ton of fluids man. And not just water, gotta get those electrolytes in. Real easy to get dehydrated with these colds/flus sticking around so long.

I said the following in the megathread on Friday:
I got this* the last week of November and ended up with an intercostal muscle tear from the coughing. My boyfriend got over it relatively quickly but I still had a nasty dry cough until a couple weeks ago... when I started to get shortness of breath instead, followed by a horrid five-day headache, then muscle aches, a low-grade fever, productive cough, and general malaise. I self-isolated this week, just in case.

*this being the aforementioned nasty cold. As for the suspected corona-chan, this weekend I was feeling better until early this morning - when I woke up coughing, short of breath, with a burning tightness in my chest that I'd never had before. So I had to call in sick to work again. As there are no cases in my area and I haven't been in a COVID-ridden location since February 17th, nor am I deathly ill...yet, I don't meet the threshold for testing! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For a second I thought you meant one of those Mickey Mouse gas masks from WWII.

Started out with what I thought was a nasty stomach bug, turned into a low fever a few days later. Which then turned into a nasty dry cough that persisted for about two and a half weeks with a headache coming and going and plenty of sore muscles. Couldn't breathe well for most of that time, ending up coughing up about a tablespoon of unidentified goo in the final days. Was fortunate enough to be able to take the time I needed to heal, probably would have been a lot longer if I had been working. Took me out for the entire time, too.

Stay hydrated and rest well, my fellow plague-bearers. If you're lucky, you'll just end up with the milder version of it. Maybe we'll even get a special plague tag if we ask nicely!

edit: Caught it around mid-February, before people were taking in seriously here in the states. Currently we're not on lockdown, but the cops around here have been talking about how it's inevitable where we are. Was expecting that announcement last weekend, but doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon. The people are pissed off around here, people getting sick left and right because they still have to go to work and we have a high elderly population, too. Not looking too hot for Florida, honestly.

Back in early February, I started having trouble breathing. I've never been seriously sick in my life, but this was so bad that I almost decided to call an ambulance. I was kind of worried it was Corona-chan. Went to the clinic the next day, got an inhaler I haven't used because I don't like taking anything other than a few choice over the counter drugs.

I started to feel better, felt bad again, and now I'm starting to feel better again. Didn't get tested because nasty shit spreads like wildfire in hospitals, and now I can't because the only place testing near me has restricted testing to the severely sick and elderly due to a lack of test kits just days after setting up drive-thru testing.

I've self isolated since returning from the clinic. Don't know what it was. What I do know is that if I did have it, it fucking sucks and it only further deepens my desire to fuck China into the dirt for this shit.

Stay safe out there, friends.

Welp, my fever and cough are gone, but both my knees have completely swollen up with fluid which I had to go into the hospital this morning for anyway or I wouldnt be able to walk. It was, once again, my immune system being fucktarded as usual and freaking out.

A part of me wonders if my dopey immune system might actually be working in my favor for once and all the fluid from whatever it was reacting too ended up in my knees rather then my lungs. As it seems to do with worst case covid. Probably not the case but it's a thunkful thought nonetheless.

Never seen the VA hospital so empty on a weekday though. People really are following the "Shut it down". Only drama was some elderly black man tried to sticky finger the security guards tub of sanitation wipes. Brass tacks on that nigga. They just took it back and told him to fuck off.

Your last post really got me worried. I mean, we've never talked, but it's still disturbing to see a fellow kiwi suffering like that due to it. Glad you made it out okay, despite everything.

I could've had it, or not, I wouldn't know. That's the power of juicin' beets, yo. Ya don't get sick. :sighduck: :drink:

I'll let you know if I feel if anything changes, and how masterfully I deal with it though.
