Kiwifarms needs to stop doxing people! - Remove all dox immediately

Personally, I think doxing is overused. I always thought it should be used if someone is a genuine threat to society - pedophiles, abusers, rapists, zoophiles, scammers and grifters and the like. Real Degens. If you're just a weirdo on the web being non-threatening and just posting cringe shit, not hurting anyone, you don't deserve to get doxed. You're retarted for not knowing basic internet safety, sure, but you don't deserve prank calls and pizzas sent to your house.

However, it is within our right to use the ability to dox if given the tools to do so. To take that away, if anything, gives people like Keffals more power over us. It doesn't matter how you feel about it; whether you like it or not it's a part of the culture of this site.
 
it's an invasion of privacy. it's wrong to dox, 99% of the time, but I think everyone would agree that a pedophile or rapist should be doxxed due to the fact that they could harm someone.

doxxing someone because you don't like them is incredibly immature. I like kiwifarms, but a lot of the doxxing isn't warranted imo.

overall I believe doxxing has a very thin gray area, and in that gray area are pedophiles, rapists, or anyone who is currently harming or about to harm an individual, mentally or physically (idea guys, for example).

any sane person would agree that the doxxing of any of these people is warranted. NOT to "expose them", or "just because", but to make it possible for them to be investigated by authorities before anyone is harmed.

doxxing of keffals was 100% warranted. giving children resources to DIY hormone treatment is incredibly harmful to confused children.

Welcome to the internet, where almost all of your information is either available for any amount of money or just out there. If anyone wants to stop doxing, they'd go cry crocodile tears in front of all the big tech headquarters in silicon valley as well as every credit reporting bureau, utility company, advertising service, information broker out in the world. This isn't about doxing, it's a hook; it's best surmised in one photo...

Seems like a transparent push for we-but-not-for-thee.
You could lobby for federal laws to criminalize actions taken with acquired dox. Should people be able to swat you or harass your employer even if you're stupid enough to reveal who you are? Probably not.
 
Personally I don't see how a lot of doxing on here is necessary to laugh at a lolcow. I think we should be allowed to do it, but a lot of the times it's just personal info that's been displayed for what, making lolcows freak out? I see dox as a way to link a lolcow to other identities to see whatever dumb shit they've said elsewhere, but things like home addresses don't help with that, unless it's something like claiming they're poor and disabled but it turns out they live in a mansion.

I don't see the point in doxing family members unless they actively participate in the lolcow's sphere of interest or are mentioned extensively such that it warrants an investigation.
 
Contrary to what the troons say, the forum doesn't make threads on random nobodies or any old "neurodiverse" person. You gotta truly be an exceptional individual and I reckon it's fair game as long as it's done to be informative and not for retarded reasons. Retarded reasons would be doxing someone because you lost an argument with them for instance.

What even is dox anyway? Admittedly I don't browse 90% of the threads but I've never seen passport scans, SSNs or anything else that's particularly damaging. I'm no oldfag but I remember in the past just knowing name, DOB and address was considered incomplete.

Yeah, this. I don't really care about doxxing the cow if they've posted their own homes and personal lives on the internet for all to see, but I don't like the doxxing of their family members whose only "crime" is to be related to a lolcow. If it's not the lolcow the thread is about then it's not necessary info and it just comes across as petty and malicious at that point. Why drag innocent bystanders through shit when it's completely uncalled for?

I don't like PPP - even before I read through his thread I'd seen a few of the videos between him and Josh and the other one between PPP and Jim: and PPP came across as a two-faced and disingenuous person to me. A real snake. But when I got around to reading his thread I saw that his family was doxxed earlier on and I thought that was an unnecessary and kinda cunty thing to do tbh. It was too close to life-ruination levels for me towards parties who weren't even involved.

Talk about the cows, doxx the cows, whatever. But don't drag people who have nothing to do with the drama into bullshit that doesn't involve them personally. You don't jail the sibling for the crimes of their brother, so to speak.
 
It's a good idea, since we'd probably be less likely to get shut down again. Just because it's out there, and people dox themselves -- if anything, that just makes it pointless to put it here. It may be legal, but that doesn't make it a good idea. And just because we have a no harassment policy doesn't mean people are going to follow it.
To me it's just common sense.
I also see family members getting dragged in, and that's really fucked up. Nobody picks their relatives.


Although I agree that I really don't give a shit if it's some criminal, like Nick Bate. Otherwise? Let's not. We don't need the hassle.
 
i always thought it was kinda much for most cows and that virtual tough-guys post dox here to try to make a point. for some of the more heinous people discussed here sure whatever but you can't tell me unsanctioned faggots don't use dox to stir shit even if it's discouraged.
 
What's the point of a thread that doesn't even include the subject's SSN?
 
They really won't leave us if we do this but it would be the right thing to do. What do we need to know the addresses of lolcows for? What will we do with the info?
