This was talked about many moons ago in an older era of the forums (pre 2020) that there was interest in implementing a currency system to have a tangible reward for activity.

I know a lot of things will have priority with the rebuild and quality of life improvements prior to that being finalised, however I think given the popularity of old-style Internet website structure rising in the adjacent spaces to lolcows, and the numerous game developers we have on the farms, that it would be both beneficial to traffic and give users something new to play around with that it merits considerations.

A currency system could be established using posts, account length, and reactions as a method of acquisition and loss.

Digital TCGs have become popular and there is an existing lolcow tcg proving the concept works, so why not implement a collective card or fighting system? KiwiCardPacks worth x credits with a rarity value to create a market around trading and collecting.

Old style mini games - having funny flash and shockwave style games for users was discussed a long time ago and keeps coming up. With the upward direction of the farms for growth, why not now? The website is going through an overhaul. The best time to program something in is as the skeleton rather than trying to figure out the plugin down the line.

It's an interesting ideal, systems like this however usually just end up being exploited and don't reward behavior you actually want to promote.

Yeah but this is the farms where somehow social pressure and shame works (seriously for whatever reason users that do that nonsense don't seem to last long on here).

I was thinking about a lolcow tcg card game the other day and having each lolcow be a card with the activities and events they went through. The cards have the same shock value and design as Illuminati: New World Order played like TSSSF in a Magic the Gathering style.

Not in the sense of rewarding good behaviour though. I don't like being a Pavlovian dog getting +1 score from likes, imagine how bad it'll be if you have trading cards in the mix. If you aren't allowed to sell Trading cards then people will attempt to illegally do so anyways. That will allso attract a terrible breed of investors that gets their dick hard over virtual goods. Look at the Steam marketplace and the CS:GO community. No one's playing the game for the game, all they care about is the skins.

The only reasonably fair system would be for all existing accounts to start on the same day and for you to accumulate a set amount of currency each day you've logged in.

I can't think of any other way to implement dynamic currency generation that doesn't also encourage (even more) Reddit-tier behavior. People already try to farm reactions despite the fact they do literally nothing.

You can reward performance in official tournaments and events I guess.

Trading is fun in theory but you end up with (((merchants))) who won't engage in the actual game and will just play their own game of market manipulation. Happens every time.

Ideally, the game itself would require minimal currency to get to a point where you're competitive while also having currency dumps for prestige and cosmetic type stuff.

Shut up peasant. I have over 10,000 Kiwi Kard Koins. I can't hear the mutterings of poor people over the pleasant chiming of my koins klanking against each other.

One was already under development: Total Retard War TCG. I was piecing together an online version before RL took away all my spare time, it should be easy enough to implement if anyone else wants to try. (Don't use the first PDF, there's multiple revisions and a minor overhaul later in the thread.)

I had the same thought, and the KF Game Jam is probably the best starting place for it. It got creators used to designing and deploying games playable on a web site.

The problem is shoehorning in a deployment platform that allows for proper iteration, in a forum format, with safeguards. Xenforo posts aren't conducive to user-facing versioning or surfacing live versions. Embedding WASM or whatever isn't currently possible.

It's also is a massive security risk, the Game Jam only worked because volunteers individually inspected every submission. Even with that level of oversight, the Farms is currently under attack by someone uploading CSAM and reporting to upstream; adding anything interactive is a huge attack vector that will be instantly exploited.

And that's before we get to infrastructure requirements and software re-write. The bandwidth requirements alone may sink the idea.

your just describing neopets but more autistic.

TCGs are big gay! Deck builder are much more fun and the best one is the anime maid (tanto cuore) one.
Maybe somebody can make a lol cow version of that
