It's extremely laughable, and quite concerning, that her original comic from nearly a decade ago when she was 14 is better than her comic at 23. Yes, that one does devolve into a shitpost as well, but the first 3 pages (outside of the last panel in page 3) do have some semblance of care put into them. It's basic, but I don't expect a 14 y/o furry to have outstanding story ideas that are emotionally touching. But it makes the current iteration all the more baffling. Many artists I know who've had characters for that long are very attached to them, yes, but I usually see them handled with care and the weight that they have been that artist's characters for so long.
I get the impression that she's trying to be funny with meta jokes by basically doing "waoh guyz we r in a comik!!! XDDD isnt that sooooooo kewl :3333" as the entirety of the new version. I think she's genuine in the title that it's a test comic to revisit the medium, but it's not at all taken seriously and looks more like a messy doodle page you'd make at 1am only to delete once you're lucid again. She's also leaning hard into her cringy "rawr xD random lulz" humor with things just randomly happening, the use of Comic Sans for the font type, the intentional typos, and the inexplicable loredump of there being a god/deity whom Crystal is well-acquainted with.
