Кино is a former Soviet post-punk band from Leningrad founded by Viktor Tsoi, which you might've heard either on doomer playlists or in GTA IV on Vladivostok FM. That being said, they've made some amazing music that's great to listen to whenever you're sad or happy.

Here's some of their most known songs:

Gruppa Krovi

Spokoynaya Noch

Kukushka

Peremen

They have made many more great songs, best of which were on their last 4 albums: Группа крови, Звезда по имени Солнце, Чёрный альбом, and the compilation album Последний герой.

Post-punk has had some recently with bands such as Chernikovskaya Hata, which has focused on more melancholic styled post-punk.
Ty Ne Vver Slezam
Nazhmi Na Knopku
Spektakl Okonchen

And also, other post-Soviet countries like Poland had their own batch of post-punk back in the day, such as Kult or Lady Pank, also worth listening.
Kult - Arahja
Kult - Hej czy nie wiecie
Lady Pank - Wciąż bardziej obcy
Lady Pank - Sztuka latania

Кино is amazing. The suprematist album cover art is killer, also.

Personally I love the melancholic russian bands, which I guess aren’t really post-punk? There’s some great math rock and emo revival bands though.
My favorites are Birdbone, Fakeholder, Medoed, Aesthetics across the color line, Имя твоей бывшей and Пекинский велосипед.

if anybody has recommendations for music that is more on the post Hardcore, heavier side of things I would love to know.
